Dario Zenker – Alto Fragments [IT021]

Cover art - Dario Zenker: Alto Fragments

Ever committed to the techno cause, Dario Zenker returns once more to his own Illian Tape imprint with four intense statements of how classic and modern elements should be fused to make timeless tracks. “27 Northwest” undoubtedly has a whiff of original Detroit about it, but there’s no escaping how much of a hook the lead synth is over the tough but dextrous beat. “Cooking Booking” meanwhile exists somewhere in that discordant realm Kevin Saunderson dipped his toes into before rave emerged as its own offshoot, all the time still pounding out a detailed broken techno pattern. “Growin” gets a little more heady in its use of old-skool chords before “Karlim” softens the edges of the EP with a glorious slice of emotive techno.

Patrik Skoog – Exit Earth [3ELP-201311]

Exit Earth is Patrik Skoog’s first solo album under his own name. He has released on Drumcode as Patrik Skoog, but it is as Agaric that he is best known. As Agaric he has released tracks on his We Are label and on Josh Wink’s Ovum Recordings (the album Who Made Up The Rules in 2011). As Agaric, Patrik inhabited a more Housier planet. With Exit Earth he has produced one of 2013’s best Techno albums. Exit Earth is a Techno album. Purely electronic. It is intentionally forward thinking, not retrospective. It is inspired by the twin space crafts Voyager 1 and 2 sent out by NASA in the late 70s on interstellar missions, which up to and beyond the very day of recording this album have been exploring the planetary systems of Jupiter, Saturn and the outer reaches of our solar system. Third Ear Recordings is proud to release Exit Earth. It is imaginative. It is beautifully written, played and produced. It reminds us how much we love Techno.

Nuklear Default – 303 [SONICULTUREUNLIMITED013]

New floor filling EP where Lewis Fautzi, now re-baptized as Nuklear Default, takes us on another joyful ride of groovy techno. Explorations in acid are the mottos of 303 and Acid is back. Rocking and Intense are just few words we can use to describe these floor filling bombers. Filthy goes in another direction, where dub and techno are present and arranged with very strong drum programming. Again, the dancefloor is the target and the will to go crazy should arise and be huge.

Giorgio Gigli & Obtane – Perception Through Dissonance [PP039]

PERCEPTION THROUGH DISSONANCE (RROSE REMIX)

Perception Through Dissonance features a collaboration project from Giorgio Gigli and Obtane. Each production is filled with deep philosophical undertones creating a very nostalgic experience. This release also features a remix from the illusive stateside artist Rrose. This three cut journey starts with “Industrial Assaults” showcases a circadian rhythm style production reminiscent of an old John Carpenter film filled with scattered decaying elements, unearthly soundscapes and brutal baselines. Next in line is Rrose’s interpretation of “Industrial Assaults” which highlights deconstructed elements, warping aquatic molecules and erratic eccentric builds. Ending our journey is an experimental tool that embraces the feeling of solitariness in some alien landscape playing true to the name “Ambient Drama”.

Raw M.T. – Raw Music Theory EP [WB012]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/full/CS509075-01A-BIG.jpg

Our new release ”Raw Music Theory EP” is the debut for the young but very talented Italian producer Raw M.T. The opening tune, ”Walkman Is Dead” does, in fact, sound a bit like dismay over a broken piece of domestic electronics. As if the original wasn’t weird enough, it is backed with L.I.E.S’ very own Greg Beato’s remix that would easily make it into one of these fashionable screwed up mixes that everyone seems to enjoy so much these days. Keeping it so lo-fi it nearly crosses the line of DJ-unfriendliness, Greg stretches the original synths, delivering something on the unexpected-yet-welcome border of trance, speed garage and powerhouse. On the flip, a more laid-back and relaxed ”Sara”, possibly dedicated to a special one, takes us all the way back to the Drexciya times.

In Aeternam Vale – Machine à Laver [MW049]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS509243-01A-MED.jpg

Minimal Wave is proud to present a third 12” single from our French favorites, In Aeternam Vale. The single features two more epic, pioneering masterpieces. Machine à Laver (Washing Machine) sounding much like its title, is 12 minutes of pure electronic hypnotica. And the flip side is a more straightforward 127 bpm 11 minute number entitled Ultrabase – which is an unashamed slab of innovative dub techno from 1990, existing completely outside of its genre. Neither of these tracks have ever been released before.

Crystal Maze – Enter the Maze LP [ADEPTH010]

CRYSTAL MAZE - Enter The Maze

Formed of Italian producer Ma Spaventi and Dutchman G-String aka Gijs Poortman, whose releases for the likes of M>O>S and Echovolt have provided some of Holland’s most interesting deep techno output, Crystal Maze arrive on aDepth Audio with their debut album, Enter The Maze. With only two 12? releases to their name, a full album of Crsytal Maze material is an ambitious statement from the pair, but one that sees Spaventi and Poortman continue to develop the Crystal Maze sound which has been characterised a decidedly dark edged manipulation of analogue techno. Across ten tracks the duo display a wide variety of sounds and influences; “Slow Swirl” sounds like Drexciya taken down to a lumbering, mid-tempo groove, “Indian Tape” combines rubbery, ghetto house textures with swelling deep house chords, “Mirrors Chamber” comes across like the sub aquatic dub techno of Porter Ricks, while “Dr Claw” creates a low slung, warped vision of Detroit techno’s first wave. An ambitious album, yes – but one that more than succeeds.

Legowelt – Crystal Cult 2080 (Album Sampler) [CR1273]

https://i0.wp.com/imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS510801-01A-MED.jpg

Ahead of the release of his next full-length album on Creme Organization, irrepressible Dutchman Legowelt has readied a new EP. This EP features four tracks, one of which is Crystal Code 2080, which will also appear on the forthcoming album Crystal Cult 2080. The EP starts with the track from the new album. Coated in melodic mysticism and alive with many impish synth spirits, a celestial mood pervades the whole track as jumbled acid lines and jacking percussion fill in the foreground with plenty of energy. The other three tracks are just as muddled and multi-layered, texturally rich and typically Legowelt. They include the eeriness of Majestic Alchemy, the stormy and filmic emotions of ‘Mistral’ and classic house jack of Do What U Gotta Do with its mesmerising synth lines and deep moods.

Atom TM / Tobias – Physik 1 [OTON072]

Atom™ & Tobias. deliver their first tracks recorded for Ostgut Ton on the “Physik 1 EP”. For this collaboration they opted for two classic Acid jams. On the first side “Physik 44A” builds a steady sweep with its continually modulating Acid line and relentlessly driving percussion. Luscious beats are propelled through an intricately crafted hi-hat construction until the filter cut-off signals a break, only to allow the track to strike back in full force. On the B-side “Physik G321V” focuses on the groove. The same subject with a different approach. A surprising balancing act between the serious mood layed down by the track and the combined playful vocal stabs that are comfortably bathed in Acid as though they always belonged there. A thoroughly timeless record.

Phantom Planet Outlaws / Tr One – The Muscle, The Beets [APT005]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS510323-01A-MED.jpg

For the latest Apartment release two interplanetary gangs come face to face in a techno battle for the ages.

Hailing from the Phantom Planet we come across Forsh, Bin Man and The Red Defender, a trio of rebel Outlaws whose spaceship is under fierce attack from The Muscle Patrol, the Hi-tech Galaxy’s ultimate and most fearsome tool of oppression. Following wave upon wave of Acid attack, the Outlaws are forced to eject from their ship, landing on a mysterious jungle planet…

Unbeknownst to them, the trio have landed on Huguenot, infamous for it’s ghostly shark creatures which rise up to hunt the living…and they smell fresh meat…

…meanwhile, traveling across deepest space aboard The Viceroy 9-c we find The Dean of Threenie and e-D aka The Beets. They are 2 disparate characters from the planet Tr One, infamous for it’s GreenLight Sector, a nefarious haven for low-life traders and smugglers. The duo traverse the galaxy in search of rare treasures to capture and trade back on home soil. Unlike the Phantom Planet Outlaws, these two know what awaits them on Huguenot…or do they.

Will The Beets save The Phantom Planet Outlaws from the bloodlusting creatures of Huguenot? Will they sell them out to The Muscle Patrol? Or will they join forces to rid the galaxy of it’s most fierce oppressors?

The black gold sat upon your turntable contains all the answers…and more…

Entro Senestre – Root Canal [LIES034]

https://i0.wp.com/images.junostatic.com/300/CS509781-01A-MED.jpg

Entro Senestre makes his L.I.E.S. debut with the two track ”Siamese Connextion” EP. Root Canal sounds just like the title, a painfully executed techno/electro track. Starting with a blown-out stuttered kick pushing air coupled with synths and melodies that wouldn’t sound so far off in an Ultradyne song crushing the listener. Siamese Connextion is a completely different animal clocking in at 9 minutes with lush chords and melodies, building up and breaking down, providing perfect early morning modern house sounds.

Tuff City Kids – Roby Tease EP [DSR-H7]

Roby Tease EP

Running Back boss Gerd Janson and fellow German Phillip Lauer are Tuff City Kids and are the next pairing to contribute to Delsin’s house leaning series. Opener ‘HFS’ is a louche and laid back affair. It’s a spacious track with plenty of ambient textures as well as hollow sounding melodies and more grating percussive stabs. A beguiling combination of the blissful and the brutal its about as fresh as house can sound in the modern day. The more kinetic ‘Wendy (Girlfriend 43 Piano Mix)’ is underpinned by a rasping, hiccupping bassline and is built on heavy rubber kicks whilst a lead melody brings a sense of brightness to the otherwise murky mix. Completing the fine trio of tracks on vinyl is ‘Reeze’. With its well-defined drums and snares, ramshackle percussive flourishes and juddery bass, it’s a sketchy slo-jam that will work crowds into a stupor with ease.
