Telephones – From The Vaults 1998-2018 Vol. 2 [EC02/TLF02]

Digging deeper into rescued attic-material, Telephones offers even more genre-wobbly, and inspired sounds, featuring bipolar detroit techno/bongo-disco, stuttering warehouse-atmospheres and a failed attempt at making Speed Garage (without ever really knowing what that was) – instead ending up somewhere, which can best be described as balearic techno with a dutch twist, hyperactive steroid-disco and degenerate house. Originally conceived and programmed by a juvenile Mr Telephones on ancient PC-software at the turn of the 90s/Y2K – 20 years later, salvaged, exported and meticulously overdubbed, re-recorded and edited to current high standards of Telephonic Communication.

Massimiliano Pagliara – With One Another [PLAYRJC032]

PAGLIARA, Massimiliano - With One Another

Massimiliano Pagliara’s second album on Live At Robert Johnson. This second full-length, ‘With One Another’, is mostly made up of collaborations with locally based producers. Norwegian exile Telephones lends a hand on the deliciously Balearic “Long Distance Call”, with one-time NYC resident Lee Douglas recalling his TBD work with Justin Vandervolgen on the murky acid assault that is “Fall Again”. Elsewhere, you’ll find a range of moods, ranging from the enveloping power house of “Native Tribes of Jupiter” (a hook-up with Credit 00), to the dreamy synth-pop of “With One Another”.

Telephones – Lotusland [LOTR003]

Berlin-based Norwegian producer Henning Severud is in the midst of a fine run of releases as Telephones. Love On The Rocks is back again for the second time in as many months, this time with a true summer release. With EPs for Sex Tags Ufo and Running Back causing a huge stir, Telephones goes even further, offering the beautiful Meditiranian house anthem that is Lotusland and comes backed with remixes from Discodromo and Gatto Fritto no less.

VA – Pleasure Unit 1 [PLEASUREUNTZ001]

Pleasure Unit is the new label from the excellent Keyboard Masher and it gets off to a fine start here with a selection of reworks from Norwegian producer Telephones that’s been issued in conjunction with the Berlin crew Untz Untz. By no means the most prolific of producers, Bergen-based Henning Severud has nonetheless graced the likes of Full Pupp, Sex Tags UFO and most recently The Very Polish Cut-Outs under the Telephones guise so you expect quality. And that’s what you get as Severud reworks tracks from Skatebard, Love Nation and Dove Station in his own inimitable style. The lead take on Skatebard’s “Confirmation Bias” is a particularly wonderful thing to behold, utilising a whole eight minutes to take flight into what the label quite aptly describe as a long lost Larry Levan remix of Manuel Gottsching’s epic “E2 E4”.
