John Beltran, class of ’69, is one who have surfed the musical scene for the last 20 years with unforgettable and unclassifiable tracks. Detroit Techno, jazz, ambient and electronica have all been part of Beltran’s career, just like the unchartered territories which are released here with Soul Research. Lunata, with it’s 3 tracks, is a record which brings back classic ’90s Detroit, enriched with soft and enveloping memories. A jump into the future with influences from the past.

Analog Superhero Perseus Traxx, known for his live performances and releases for Bunker, Chiwax, BOE, M>O>S> & Snuff Trax finally makes his way to the city of Chicago via Jordan Fields’ Klapmaster Records label. This was created based on a real life occurrence in Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest.

Appian Sounds is fast becoming a reliable source of extra-special deep house. This latest split EP, featuring tracks from a trio of rising talents, is another must-have release. Newcomer Jock Burton impresses with “Dolmen”, a chunk of loose and spacey deep house, that comes with a Slowburn’s remix, which adds a bleep style sub bassline and tools up the percussion. RDMA’s “Syeeda” is ultra-deep and heavily electronic – the kind of track you want to both dance to and immense yourself in while horizontal – while Route 8’s “Hemitropy” is a pleasingly dusty trip into yearning, half-remembered deep house

At the end of the year 2014, Hipodrome brings you a special Christmas present!

ASOK – aka Liverpool-based producer Stu Robinson – pops up on Good Ratio Music with two more far-sighted and fuzzy sci-fi-tinged jams. There’s a delicious shuffle to “The Fifth Book” – all bubbling Motor City electronics and foreboding chords – while “Probability Drive” joins the dots between vintage techno and sparse, otherworldly deep house. Flip for two tracks from Barcelona-based Good Ratio regular Baldo, who impresses with the fizzing analogue rhythms, chords and subtle acid of “Axel Nebulae”. His other contribution, “Seventh Dimension”, comes on like the soundtrack to a drunken late night jog through desolate, post-industrial landscapes.

The second release on Titanic City, features three tracks by Hermez with a remix by Nick Anthony.

Unreleased house/techno tracks recorded between 88-91 from the Chicago master Mike Dunn. ‘I Wanna B House’ comes with an edit from Johnny Aux as well as another straight up acid track ‘I’m The Houze’.

Pole Group presents a collection of 4 tripping stripped down techno by Woo York, Tripeo, Claudio PRC and Christian Wunsch.

Techno in his pure form! New amazing Planete Rouge by Brendon Moeller aka Echologist. Four trippy and dark techno athems. Opening with the Millsian ‘New Strain’, its rotational vibe continues on the dizzying techno of ‘Confusion’, before the tougher ‘Crystal Days’ leads on, ending with bleeps and sweeps of ‘Yellow Sands’.

Philippe Petit is welcomed to Figure SPC with this dextrous and inventive four-track EP. Ranging from the Euro-beat infusions of ‘Body’, with its menacing electronic palpitations, to the stuttering syncopations of ‘The Truth’, the bouncing, addictive tooly vibe of ‘Lost Again’, or finally the tracky, introspective chord-journey of ‘In Between’, its a varied and versatile EP from the hard working activist.

Detroit’s Manuel Gonzalez on Berceuse again. Manuel hits the groove hard and soft in two Detroit techno joints. A-side, ‘Full Frontal’ comes for your booty at 138bpm inna old skool UR or Rob Hood style, layering the kicks with chirruping alien bleeps and discordant synth surges. B-side he links up with Ramon Ramirez for the much more personable ‘Blowout’ yielding dubbed-out kosmiche synth expressions anchored by a billowing B-line at 118bpm.
