Conforce – Autonomous [124DSR]

Dutch producer and live act Conforce is back with ‘Autonomous’, a fifth artist album and the latest in his long relationship with Delsin Records. Conforce is Boris Bunnik, a producer who explores the deepest realms of dub, house, techno and electro under many different names. His Conforce alias is where his most club orientated material comes from and this new nine track album finds the Transcendent label boss producing dark syntheses inspired by his hometown and harbour city, Rotterdam, and its automated industries. A masterfully conceptual album that really paints a vivid picture of a harbour as heard from deep down in the depths.

Radius – Obsolete Machines [ECHOSPACEDETROITRDSLP1]

This marks the first vinyl release from Echospace [Detroit] this year. An unreleased classic from the vaults emerges with beautiful reshapes by CV313 (recorded and reshaped from 2007-2016). This is where the sound of CV313 was realized, culled from cassette tapes recorded live (1995-2000).

Planetary Assault Systems – Deep Heet Vol. 4 [MOTE050]

This new set of four highly concentrated cuts shows how effective Planetary Assault Systems can be at fueling the imagination by fusing together rhythmic and incidental elements into a unified, animated meshwork, without even a prominent melody to help out. Deep Heet Vol. 4 also showcases Slaters aptitude for choosing just the right moments to deviate from a steady groove.

Industrialyzer – Analog Planet [SW121]

Ricardo Rodrigues hasn’t been active as Industrialyzer for some years, but if there was ever an occasion to revisit the uncompromising techno alias, a release on Damon Wild’s legendary Synewave label must surely be it. The Portuguese artist goes in on “Analog Planet” with fearsome intent, serving up that Robert Hood-flavoured mechanized, weaponised loop goodness that gets the business end of the night shaking the way it should. “Multiple Walls” is a funkier affair with a playful organ line, but then it’s back to the darkside with the devilish “Orbit X”, rounding out an EP of no-nonsense techno like momma used to make.

Lost Trax – The Saturnian System / The Sequel [DSR-X11]

The Delsin re-issue arm turns its attention to Lost Trax. This EP features four cuts taken from two different EPs, The Saturnian System and Lost Trax 2 from 2006 and 2010 respectively. Saturnian System opens the EP with some acid laced electro slickness. Fluttering snares and spacey synths carry it away into the cosmos, then The Sequel gets much busier. Scurrying lines dart about in manic but funky fashion, with serene pads off setting the high energy drums. Self Destruct Sequence then drops into an urgent, slippery electronic groove riddled with squelchy sounds and rubbery bass all perfectly orchestrated. Last of all, Birth is a nimble electronic house cut with plaintive synths and kinetic drums that wiggle and wriggling through the night sky. This is an EP stuffed with timeless sounds and is another essential reissue from Delsin.

Jaime Read – Relief Sevensixty [MC014]

Jaime Read is something of an unsung UK legend. ‘Relief Sevensixty’ is a collection of Read’s rarer tracks that have appeared in a roundabout way, on a legendary Chicago label in a tale that has by now been widely documented. Across 4 tracks this EP shows what a dynamic producer Read is, the music contained within has a depth and maturity and of course it’s some funky as, futuristic, space Techno that sounds like it’s just escaped the warp drive and landed here on earth and implanted itself in our eardrums.

Mick Wills – M.W. Cuts [ARMA017]

Arma Records returns with a rare treat from legendary DJ, Mick Wills. Mick has been active in the seedier corners of electronic music for more than 30 years. A life spent digging in the undergrowth for deviant dance music has given him the edge that makes a truly gifted spinner, without riding on hype. For this release on Arma, Mick has given us two edits that speak to his distinctive style as a DJ – the original tracks are cult choices re-moulded into deadly, subversive club weapons. The brooding darkwave of ‘Himmelfahrt 89’ is enough to turn the most indifferent bar crowd into swaying, baying denizens of the night, while ‘Stay Silent’ pummels out a relentless electro motif that teeters on the edge of destruction for 11 thrilling minutes. These aren’t crowd-pleasing DJ tools, and neither are they slick and easy edits of obvious classics. This is a peek into the inner workings of a man with decades of experience working masses of flesh into a sweaty fever pitch using sounds you’ve never heard before.

VA – CPU Remixes [CPU00110010]

Following their 50th release milestone CPU celebrate 5th anniversary with a 2×12 LP remix compilation. CPU has been reticent in regards to remixes, with a grand total of zero during its first five years of existence. This all changes with this dedicated remix compilation celebrating the label’s 5th anniversary. The exalted roster have chosen their favourite tracks to remix from the label’s back catalogue and are brought together in a very special 2×12 gatefold sleeve. B12, Jensen Interceptor and Morphology all make an appearance alongside some of the label’s seldom seen artists. There is also a posthumous Microlith remix of Tryphème – Mélodramatique. Electro has again proven its staying power and CPU has played a key role in championing some of the genre’s greatest: bringing new artists to the front line and cementing the status of the established. This five year celebration showcases the diverse tastes and backgrounds of the roster, crossing many genre boundaries – all executed with precision and attention to detail that the label is known for.

Rhys Celeste – Microlith [FR016]

“Rhys Celeste aka Microlith passed away 26th February. 24 years old. The fatal weekend when Rhys lost his life I was mastering the tracks for his release in Fundamental Records. Rhys sent me the tracks only a few days before. He kept about forty untitled tracks for Fundamental Records and together we selected a perfect track list for the album. I was with all these melodies in my head all that weekend, I remember perfectly that feeling. Today I still have that special sensation that you can feel in all tracks composed by Rhys, something nostalgic with a big doses of happiness and hope in every note. When I was mastering his tracks I was like a young kid with a new record in my hands, each track is great, even the interludes are very special compositions.I am sure the people who support the projects we release in Fundamental Records will support this album not only for the circumstances but mainly because the quality of the tracks from someone with only 24 years… this is sad. I feel a deep emptiness inside of me because Rhys never listened the final tracks mastered… we released each track with the original references Rhys used for his tracks, except two tracks included in the very special 7. This feeling is something I can’t explain in words, and it is very difficult to carry within me. The next monday after his death I was like out of my body, we had a mountain of work with the shipping of the 808 Box but I felt totally paralyzed, my wife Anais and I could hardly speak, we were speechless for some minutes, looking to the screen of the computer trying to understand what happened, then I decided I have to do what I said to Rhys only two days before, and I opened the player in my laptop and I started to work in the design for the cover with the music of Rhys in repeat mode. I was in front of the screen all day, printing many sketches and color variations. I called Fundamental Records to our label for a very good reason and this project deserves this adjective in full effect. For the same reason I also decided to release this album under the real name of the artist, Rhys Celeste and use his music name, Microlith, for the title.”

The dance floor is never far from his mind with each track building upon his signature thunderous kicks and android basslines. Melas demonstrates his meticulous knowledge of the genre on this E.P. as he jumps between aquatic synths and no nonsense UR science.
