ARA-U & Radioactive Man – The Houghton Blues EP [NSA003]

ARA-U & Radioactive Man turn a bad situation into a great collection of tracks with their latest collaborative release The Houghton Blues EP. When cult Norfolk gathering Houghton Festival was cancelled in 2019 because of high winds, this pair had just bought some booze and were already on their way. After a moment’s sadness, they decided to turn bad news into good and head to the studio to work on some tracks. Across two sides of vinyl on ARA-U’s NO STATIC / AUTOMATIC label, the accomplished electro innovators once again serve up pure analogue vibes and raw machine funk.

RADIOACTIVE MAN/ANNIE HALL/SANSIBAR/VC 118A - Exit Planet Earth: Nitrogen

‘The third edition of the Exit Planet Earth vinyl series features four more exclusive intergalactic selections from Ralph Lawson. First up is a true legend of the UK electro scene, Keith Tenniswood aka ‘Radioactive Man’, who creates a constantly evolving sonic trip called ‘One Out’. Sharing the A side is the Spanish producer Annie Hall, creating melodic landscapes, layered with intricate string orchestration driven by deep bass. On the flip side Helsinki-based Sunny Seppa aka Sansibar shows exactly why he is fast becoming hot property following his immense debut album on FTP – ‘Targeted Individuals’.  Sansibar brings the record back to the 4/4 with a flowing yet subtle working of synths and pads. Also based in Finland yet hailing from Holland is VC-118A, delivers some deep space dub with expertly crafted production centring on low end theory.

Derailleur – Hydraulic Performer EP [DB001]

Derailleur announces new vinyl label Decade Box, acting as a sonic time capsule, the imprint will present the music honed by the producer over the last 10 years. Hydraulic Performer EP is the first in a series of releases to share the fruits of his dedication to machine made music. The release sets the tone for the label series, showing off two different sides of Derailleur’s production styles. Title track Hydraulic Performer is a raw and cutting rave-primed electro track. Radioactive Man is called up for remix duties, upping the ante with his precision drum programming and unique sonic trademark. Device One rounds up the EP, a wonky, jacking cut warmed up by stepping synths.
