Trident Recordings drops a double pack on solid white vinyl, that finds Deltamaxx and O En One join forces. They take us on a storytelling trip through cosmic techno that varies in mood and tempo. ‘Conexxion’ rides a nice rubbery, bumpy groove with incidental and wispy synth sounds, then ‘Delta Pavonis’ seems to soundtrack a beach party up amongst the stars. There are darker, more heady cuts like ‘Donnager’ and icy electro cinematics on ‘Isonoe’ to make for a worthy collection of sounds that work on the dancefloor and beyond.

Drivetrain (Detroit, USA) taking flavorful elements from his deep house original, this is a killer dose of thick-set, granular house-meets-techno. Motomitsu (Paris, FRANCE) perfectly appointed, synthetic strings rise and fall; back-dropping deep, purling bass, anesthetic keys and distant, wraithlike vocals drifting in and out of view. Jani Ho (MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA) club weaponry delivering an exhilarating, full-throttle ride through a menagerie of ever-shifting layers, which themselves are in a constant state of leg-sweeping flux.Owen Ni (ATHENS, USA) a stratospheric, psyched-out house heater, fired up of aerial synthesizers, whisking off to beatific and unearthly sonic euphoria.
J. Mono – Redate III [DDCS03]
J. Mono twists our sense of time again, coming up with the third installment of his ‘Redate’ series: an elegant selection of uncut tracks, roaming in the fields of electro, acid, IDM and EBM. Redate III in its digital format presents tracks that were written and recorded between 2014 and 2015. As the cassette version, it includes not only Redate III (as side A), but a collection of J. Mono’s various other tracks created between 2017 and 2021, that appeared beforehand on various compilation albums (as side B). In other words, with this fresh new tape you’re all set with 8 years of J. Mono experience.

This compilation consists in 4 sound artworks trying to program complex algorithms for isolated and confused individuals with an altered state of mind through Differential Quadrature methodologies.
Alpha Visitor – Ciudad Fantasma [SHIP068]
A new entity has made musical contact with Shipwrec. Alpha Vistor. The newly minted moniker of musician and sound designer Ivan Zapico, this four tracker debut is steeped in the traditions of electro. In the ghostly “Ciudad Fantasma” threats lurk in the murky shadows of basslines and beats, an unsettling atmosphere of menace penetrating speakers from the outset. Clinical percussion and an overarching unease introduce “20202020.” Dark undercurrents of melody brood below shimmering glass chords in this foreboding work. The flip comes to life with “Malos Tiempos para la Guerra,” an ominous prescience coming to bear in the track title. A hi-hat haze is broken by sweetened strings, a kick drum maintaining the intensity. When a snare arrives, it is accompanied by greasy acid basslines; brightness countered with shadow. The final encounter comes with “Templo de Cova.” A soaked beat surfaces amid stabbing sythlines and twilight tones that break to triumphal highs, a reflective culmination to this ruminative record.

Greek-born DJ and producer Alex π is the founder of Pi Electronics label and event series, as well as co-founder of record label Modal Analysis. In the post pandemic era, he releases his archive of productions from the years 2016 – 2021 : a blend of Techno/EBM influences, with processed vocals and noisy textures, in a ’song’ like structure. Aiming to crossover the 80s aesthetic to a techno type of production using machines of the ’10s, the concept here is to avoid the sounding of a tool track while still staying within the boarders of dance-floor minded music. The archives will be released in two instalments: Part I on Tripalium Corp and Part II on Soil records.
De Fabriek – Music For Hippies [PLA043]
Platform 23 again explores to the dense voids, this time with a touch of the funk, with a reissue of Dutch experimentalists De Fabriek and two tracks from their “Music For” cassette series, this time calling all Hippies. Featuring both original and reinterpretations from modern-day heads, Dunkeltier and Khidja, this double-pack is something of an oddity, showcasing the bands’ expansive range, moving away from the noise, drone and industrial soundscape releases they had become known for and crafting here, free flowing, groovy longform jams.

Midori Takada – Tree of Life [WRWTFWW057]
WRWTFWW Records announce the worldwide reissue of Midori Takada’s solo album from 1999, Tree of Life, available on vinyl for the first time ever in a new audiophile mix by the Japanese percussionist herself, and in full half-speed-mastered glory. Originally recorded in September 1998 at legendary Ginza (Tokyo) studio Onkio Haus and released on CD only for the Japan market in 1999, Tree of Life is Midori Takada’s best kept secret, a lost gem of minimalism and percussive ambient. The album is separated in two parts, the first one finds Takada exploring her trademark environmental soundscapes with precise mastery of marimba, drums, and bells, notably on the magnificent fan-favorite ”Love Song Of Urfa”. The second half is a collaboration with Chinese virtuoso Erhu player Jiang Jian Hua, allowing Midori Takada to unveil new layers of her artistic mind with a slightly more theatrical approach and a beautiful crystallization of complex simplicity.
Slumberland & Sainkho Namtchylak – Lightkeeper [DOSER043]
Morphine Records is coming up with a massive loader from Slumberland’s self-made instruments sounds, from the bullroarer to sewing machines an d self made organs, combined with legendary Tuvan throat singer Sainkho Namtchylak. “Lightkeeper” was recorded and mixed by Lebanese-Canadian artist Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (Jerusalem In My Heart, Constellation Records) adding his distinct touch to the production of this rollercoaster of sounds. Belgian musician, composer and instrument-maker Jochem Baelus has been unleashing his obscure, hypnotic krautrock embellished with distorted exotica upon us as Slumberland since 2013. After creating his signature battery of sewing machines, projectors and dismantled mechanical objects, Baelus immersed himself into the world of 64 year old voice-artist Sainkho Namtchylak and assembled a new sound sculpture inspired by her colour.
