A-side finds Colours of Infinity AKA Andy Donnelly, who runs the Hidden Waves label, delving into slow, sludgy territory while on the reverse, obscure wave digger BLΔCKMOON77 takes the production reins for a full industrial immersion.
Fresh from contributing from The Glowing compilation Vertical67 AKA Thomas Pahl is back on brokntoys with Morphed Reality. BT18 shows his versatility as a producer switching between gnarly, acid flecked electro to more introspective, IDM influenced brooding techno.
Eidetic welcomes Kovyazin D & Moralez for the 2nd release of the series. Based in Moscow & Saint Petersburg; Dmitry Kovyazin & Alexandr Moralez between them have released on respected labels such M.O.S, Chiwax, New Flesh & International Deejay Gigolo. The Night Watch brings the two of them together for the first time for an intergalactic rollercoaster ride, swerving between jacking techno and starry eyed electro.
Eidetic is a new project from the brokntoys camp, focusing on the deeper side of techno. To kick off the project, Eidetic welcomes Exhausted Modern – an alias from Layup, the co-founder of Endless Illusion, for a 4-track EP of grimy, grubby, eerie electronics suited for the early hours on the dance floor.
BT17 The Glowing brings together an array of fresh up and coming producers. Morah has cut his chops as a producer with releases already under his belt on Helena Hauff’s Return to Disorder, Berceuse Heroique and Lux Rec. One Conversation with a Funny Demon is pure grimy power electronics for the freaks. Solid Blake from the Copenhagen based Apeiron Crew makes her production debut with the creeping Burns. On the flip, Ivna Ji’s celestial beauty of Oscillating Universe opens up proceedings before Vertical67’s Distortion takes us deep into the rabbit hole to finish.
Boris Bunnik needs little introduction, a prolific producer who uses an array of monikers to release his many personalities. For Polychange he finds the balance between abstract, ethereal and jacking across all 4 tracks to create the sound of his unique take on electro.
Komarken Electronics makes his debut on Brokntoys with Expanded Consciousness. He serves up shimmering neo electro with Early Mornings following up with the fidgety Bubble Theory. On the flip, the title track runs deep into ether before Delta Funktionen steps up with a heavy remix of Early Mornings to close proceedings.
BT14 brings back Pip Williams & Koova along with Simon Lynch as London Modular Alliance for Out of Sync. Across 5 tracks they bring together a wide range of influences from electro, bass & techno to create their own unique sound. Opening the EP De-Orbit_118 is a beatless excursion into space before crashing back down to earth with the deranged The Mind is a Terrible Thing. Closing the A side, Tinker matches sombre pads with squelchy intricacies. On the flip Their Discontent grooves and trips out while closing track Out of Sync offers an even deeper variation of opener De-Orbit_118.
BT12 welcomes ITPDWIP to Brokntoys. Founder of Remote Influence; a collective and record label pushing 70’s to 00’s electronic music. ‘Taking An Already Taken Decision’ takes on what post love would sound like with a doleful, melancholy interpretation of electro. ‘Dolphin’s Cry’ accommodates skipping, intricate minimal grooves. Closing the EP ‘Haguenesse Wind’ brings bass heavy, mechanical electro.
Electro maestro Luke Eargoggle collaborates with some of his favorite producers creating an EP that delves into the many sides of Eargoggle. Eargoggle & The Hacker open the EP with a sleazy take on New Beat with Body. Eargoggle & Marco Bernardi are up next with trademark nagging basslines complete with fragmented weirdo speech and demented melodies for Rat Wire Chomp. On the flip Eargoggle joins forces with long term collaborator Rutherford for the driving emo Stalkers Behave. Closing the EP Das Muster goes in the for the kill with the metallic Starke.
Discos del Quebranto kicks off with acid adventures from the Börft legends, reigniting Styrka studios with 4 jams of twisted techno.
Brokntoys welcomes Dan White for his debut for BT11. A key figure within the Melbourne underground scene, Rory McPike also releases under the alias of Rings Around Saturn and 2200. He has released on labels Forbidden Planet, Cult Trip and Butter Sessions taking in ambient, acid and electro along the way. Here he presents 4 tracks of dusty, emotive, tripped out house and techno that carry an underlying uneasiness for those early morning moments.
Invisible Darning brings together 4 unique acts, covering a wide spectrum of techno and electro. Crystal Maze’s Crossroad Blues kicks off the EP with slow mo tripped out techno. Dez Williams’ Hand on Mouth follows up with spaced out, stargazing electro. On the flip we have Switzerland’s Echo 106 – 100M Splutter bringing stuttering arpeggiated synths for an epic showdown. Closing the EP Albert Van Abbe resurrects his dormant The Pulse Projects for the brutalist crunching Grounds.
Marco Bernardi returns to brokntoys for yet another rollercoaster of emotions. Switching between jittery house, lo-fi nagging electro and blissed out techno with nods to Detroit.
The second release of the year for Brokntoys finds the label returning to Sweden’s Ronnie ‘Rutherford’ Johansson. ‘Singularis’ represents one of the rare occasions the Gothenburg-based artist has released outside of Luke Eargoggle’s Stilleben label, and features some proper icy electro productions as well as more abstract fare.
Brokntoys presents their fifth release by Koova. He brings 5 tracks of futuristic driving electro aimed at the dancefloor.
Key players of the Scandinavian electro scene have worked together to deliver a snapshot of their unique sound for BT04. Luke Eargoggle, Kan3da, Obergman and Rutherford deliver everything from icy electro to downtempo, mournful IDM leanings.
Glaswegian producer Marco Bernardi offers up 4 tracks of unsettling, quirky, off the wall techno and electro. Along with his heavy release schedule, Marco has also launched his own label Take the Elevator that focuses on non-conventional house and techno.
Next for Brokntoys is prolific producer of the underground UK Electro scene, Scape One. Kurt Baggaley has released on many electro labels over the years including SCSI-AV, Drivecom, Electrix and Cultivated Electronics. For this EP Scape One serves up 4 tracks of deep and murky electro and techno for the early morning and afterhours.
