Precession – Retrograde Motion EP [RSO-02]
RAWAX presents Precession aka Steve O’Sullivan with the second release on his own series. This one is very special as it’s the first release Steve ever did 25 years ago. 2 tracks on this outstanding ep were co-produced by WIS. Retrograde Motion EP came out originally on the legendary Ferox label, runned by Russ Gabriel.
Sterac – Numbers EP [MOTE059]
Steve Rachmad, aka Sterac returns to Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver imprintto release the ‘Numbers’ EP, with four tunneling techno tracks. Kicking off the release is ‘Ghost 37’, which employs vacillating grooves, ominous synths and intricate mechanics before ‘Lost Track 22’ fuses sizzling 303s, dynamic drums and mammoth, alien-sounding modulations. On the flip, ‘Rey Fur 2.1’ keeps the energy flowing with a high-impact clapper featuring bustling fx and expansive tones until ‘Tr-15’ masterfully rounds off the EP with twisting synth flutters, rattling highs and hypnotic bass grooves intricately unfolding underneath.
Sterac – Asphyx [DSR/STC1]
Steve Rachmad’s richly melodic strain of techno has resulted in a huge body of work he has been growing since the early 90s. His sound is the perfect distillation of machine soul – dubby atmospherics and crisp, danceable dynamics balanced in perfect unison. Amsterdam’s Delsin Records gathers together some of the Dutch techno figurehead’s most important, sought-after works in a new EP series, all remastered from the original DAT tapes from Steve’s archives. His flagship Sterac project is present with Asphyx EP, featuring four absolute classic Sterac works dating from 1995.
Terrence Dixon – Reporting From Detroit [RHM035]
Seven years after the classic ‘Theater of a Confused Mind’ (as Population One), Detroit techno phenomenon Terrence Dixon is back on Rush Hour with a new album, this time under his own name. ‘Reporting from Detroit’ is another prime example of the distinctly unique sound language Dixon has developed over the last three decades – defiant, forward-thinking afrofuturist techno that could only have been made in the Motor City.

Subradeon – We Are Resilient [SBRDN003]
Although now based in Berlin, Subradeon began their career in home city Naples. The Neopolitan twosome specialises in a brand of techno that combines the crunchy, full-throttle techno sounds of their native Italy with a soulful musicality that deftly draws on classic house and Motor City techno sounds. It’s an ear-catching and entertaining formula that delivers more hits than misses. For proof, check out the pair’s latest EP, and in particular bouncy, sun-splashed opener ‘We Are Resilient’ and the stab-happy joy that is retro-futurist anthem ‘Don’t Fake The Funk’. Subradeon’s love of combining cheery, looped riffs and heavy grooves is further explored on ‘Wisdom’, which is then given a more dubbed-out, late-night re-fit by Underground Resistance crew-member Rolando.
K1 feat. Dopplereffekt – Star Gazing EP [PBX-32]
Keith Tucker and Gerald Donald of Dopplereffekt finally got together. The combination of these two musicians has created a bombardment of funk as only Keith Tucker and Dopplereffekt can bring. That unearthly eerie funk and strings from other worlds. That snappy intelligent funk that Detroit so heavily influenced and unleashed to the universe.
Conforce – Wavetable EP [SNG008]
Conforce signs ”Wavetable” to Sungate – an energetic and diverse four-track EP produced using mostly wavetable synthesizers. These chord-driven tracks showcase a sophisticated danceable approach with proper groove. Rotterdam techno in its purest form.
Stasis – Time is Right EP [FP003]
Third release on Steve Pickton’s co-owned Fencepiece record label features something special from the Other World Studios archive – the first ever Stasis release from 1993. Three sublime examples of classic UK Techno from one of the true originators – Vanmannans Answer also features an early studio collaboration with fellow UK legend Nuron. Originally released on the tiny Time is Right label.
Kenny Larkin – Azimuth (Expanded Edition) [ART2021-1]
A staggering collection Detroit techno-soul music, beamed directly into your consciousness from 1994. Kenny Larkin is one of a handful of artists from the city whose original and unique sonic output has helped shape and advance techno as an art form and as a serious musical movement across the world and it’s galaxies beyond, a formidable DJ and producer whose music continues to push the envelope today. ‘Azimuth’ gives us what would be Larkin’s first full length offering, and across 11 tracks of blistering hi-tech machine funk, ambient, soul drenched rhythms and futurist club music he deftly crafted a classic. Originally released on Warp Records, ‘Azimuth’ is a record that effortlessly sounds like it came to earth yesterday while being 25 years old, a true Detroit classic that still makes waves across the planet today.

To open M-Plant’s 2021 schedule, Robert Hood announces the return of the Perpetual Masters series. The ‘Underestimated EP’ still sounds as fierce as it did when it was originally released in 1998, delivering Hood’s personal style of minimal, stripped back Techno with crisp beats, powerful build-ups and flawless grooves; nothing is superfluous.

Orlando Voorn – Internal Destination [KOM426]
Kompakt welcomes 2021 with a new member in the person of Dutch techno legend, Orlando Voorn. Orlando brings his extensive knowledge of Techno and House to the forefront for his Kompakt debut “Internal Destination”. Spacial sounds connect perfectly together – the playfulness of the track feels like each moment is caught in mid-air but the beat keeps it all moving forward without hesitation. “Ride The Wave” rounds out this EP – an electro loop is serenaded by a funked up synth melody that jams to the drum in the most soulful of ways.
Mirror Touch – Balancing EP [MET038]
Metamorphic is announces a new EP from Mirror Touch, a new project from London-based producer Tim Van Zandyke. The sound of Mirror Touch can best be described by a moment in time when mid 90’s trax records from the US Midwest combined techno’s brutalist grooves with layers of emotive harmonies harking back to Detroit’s funk, soul and jazz legacy. Then techno sound hurtled forward, blazing new paths of experimentation, minimalism and hypnosis. Mirror Touch points back to that magic moment when Techno emerged from Detroit, with a series of hardware tracks that combine emotional rawness with the flow of 21st century techno.
