Hoya:Hoya welcomes the multi-talented Tadd Mullinix with his JTC alias. This time round, on ‘Park Days’, he flexes a house side that’s not been seen too often in his career of 13 years. Whether the driving groove of South Brooks, the late night drum machine jam of Argo, Creal’s ever evolving scatter, or the delicate Gallup, ‘Park Days’ is one of those records where everyone has a different favourite.
A Sagittarium brandished a fully formed blend of becoming house and techno and a cloak of mystery and both elements to his/her/their identity have remained intact across the smattering of material that has surfaced in the subsequent period. A Transparent Mind is a fine return for A Sagittarium pairing two original productions against remixes from Marco Bernardi and Aubrey.

This winter Tresor dons hardhat and flashlight once again to exhume more lost treasures from its stated past. Under the guise of it’s own 10-year dormant Archiv Series comes a reissue EP straight from the heart of the club’s former Wertheim department store days, courtesy of long-time resident Juan Atkins.
Rekids have teamed up with Detroit’s Fit Distribution and enlisted the services of motor city locals Marcellus Pittman and Urban Tribe to put the 313 sound on ‘Working’ and ‘Taxi Talk’. On the former, Marcellus Pittman lays down his trademark blend of mechanical yet jerky old-skool drum machine rhythms and disorientingly dissonant, tripped-out synth chords – creating a somewhat eerie atmosphere that evokes images of Detroit’s manufacturing plants of yesteryear. On the flipside, Urban Tribe transform ‘Taxi Talk’ into a big room monster, using rumbling synth bass, electronic bleeps and laser gun snares to transport us back in time to a dark and hazy 90s warehouse rave.
Here’s a brand new stellar cooperation by Oscar Mulero & Christian Wünsch. The duo’s commitment is to depart from their trademark sound in search of a new transmission. They join software and hardware to create this four-piece EP that explores the deeper side of techno, heavily inspired by space and futurism, focusing on liquid textures, harmonic sequences and classic drum machine sounds, yet preserving the danceable feeling.
Holland’s FAH (aka Robin de Bekker) presents his album of braindance influenced electro Fahzers Set To Earth. Tight, punchy electrobass riddims, operating on the cusp of Rephlexian electro a la DMX Krew and Drexciyan aqua-funk, Fah cycles from the skating 808 patterns of ‘Not Enough Fahzers’ to the whirring syncopations and jazz chords of ‘Casting The Rod’ on the front, while paying tribute to James Stinson on the flipside’s woozy ‘Glowism’ and the skewed, angular hyperfunk programming of ‘Magnetic Freedom’.
Rephlex hooked up with Jodey Kendrick. One might say it’s very Drexciyan or Aphexy music, but that’s because it’s rooted in Rephlex’s favourite genres of New York Disco, Chicago House and Detroit Techno, though with a certain mystery something special added. Careful use of microtuning and analogue tweaking, combined with a very British pastoral quality, Jodey provides us with something pleasurable and original to listen to every time. This album is the accompaniment to Jodey Kendrick’s other recent album, Plus Ten. Jodey has worked long hours for the last eight and a half years as a steel fabricator on some of London’s largest buildings but this hasn’t stopped him from amassing a library of hundreds of tunes, a reflection of his passion and drive for music, hence the Steel Erector album.

Last year he appeared on Big Strick’s Resivior Dogs with “Night Moves.” What better way to bring 2013 in than “The Lost Tapes”, the new EP from Reckless Ron Cook. Here we have four high adrenaline first generation pure Detroit Techno tracks.
The no. 10 materializing as an Ike Release 12″ called Chasing Quasars EP on Machining Dreams. The five track project goes backward while looking forward as Ike presents a classic sound using contemporary principles. UK based Emile Facey joins the frustrada familia bringing a heavy, ice cold and highly emotive 3 track EP. Much in the vein of ERP and the likes but with a sharper sounding more abstract approach. This makes Plant43 a unique and welcome addition to the Frustrated Funk label.

Kai KZR Alce of NDATL announces the upcoming release of Olmec Save Us by R&B powerhouse Donnie. The original mixes produced by Alce is marked by high-end tones and layered, multitracked vocals. The musicality conveys an otherworldly, high-frequency vibration and is generally more percussive, with greater emphasis on the keyboards (played by Ricky Corey). While listeners are treated to the full-length orignal versions of Donnie’s epic tale, the Yoruba Soul Mix by noted house producer Osunlade allows for a deeper interpretation of the overall message. Also included are instrumentals of both versions that will have house heads anticipating personal and creative transformation through the sound and on the dance oor.
Detroit’s original underground groove-maker comes on board with a 4-track package of goodies. Mr. Wade brings back the deep and soulful vibes of his famous ‘night series’ with the Night Addiction ep. The A-side title track kicks off with dark keys winding through a thumping bassline and sultry horns, while Enter Dawn plunges deep into an ocean of warm pads and hypnotic bass. Flip over to the B-side for the obscure sounds of Hold Youth’s modern rework of Night Addiction, plus S3A’s disco-house interpretation, full of funky sampling, that will surely have hands up in the air.
John Daly dropping a monster track on his own 1track Records. Moving away from the previous deeper and chicago rooted tracks on the label he drops a massive peak time house track with massive chords and a pulsating sub baseline. Flipside has a more stripped and dubby Pandora Box remix.
