Shemale – Hell Transformation Screens [TRAJECTORY1007]

Astounding new material beamed via Shemale’s Atomic Allotment, concealed in an outermost shadowy recess of darkest Hyperborea. The musical paintbrush creates a harsh, barren landscape for ‘Hell Transformation Screens’, as deeply brooding electro and dramatic synthesisers propel each musical journey in its own unique style.

Momentform – Momentform [WT007]

Wt Records takes another expected turn by releasing a mini LP of new wave tracks from Momentform. The first track, ‘Momentform is Fake,’ spans the gap between new wave and house with 707 rhythmic patterns and raw, unedited bass lines. ‘Selected Works’ with its melancholic vocals and juno arpeggio has a way of finding its way into your brain and staying there. 6 tracks of excellent melodies and melancholy angst make this a great record for listening from start to finish.

Hadamard – The Jupiter Cycle Part 2: Jupiter Lucetius [TRAJECTORY2019]

‘Emergent Behaviour’ is what one might determine the calm before the storm, as we dive into the second instalment of ‘The Jupiter Cycle’, as the drifting ambience and somewhat ominous synths proceed ‘Abstract Thought’, itself a stubborn barrage of hardened electro beats, rigid stabs, crystalizing and melding into an explosive mayhem and of course, ‘The Ghost in the Machine’, if anything a more traditional styled, yet irresistible electro hit. ‘The Deep’ showcases Hadamard in a distinctly experimental mode, where all the fine details are tuned to perfection for maximum atmosphere. Finally, drifting into ‘The Collective’ and ‘Satellite Swarm’, both gliding onwards and ever deeper into pure ambience, the latter closing piece eloquently preparing the audio stratosphere for the next chapter in The Jupiter Cycle…

Hadamard – The Jupiter Cycle Part 1: Jupiter Summanus [TRAJECTORY1019]

The first phase in the breath-taking new musical project from Hadamard. As we enter Hadamard’s universe of ‘The Jupiter Cycle’, we hear a synthesis of straight-up electro coalesce with spellbinding ambient and experimental futurism, to create an overall Bladerunner-esque environment.

Orgelvärk is a compilation of Swedish synthpop, experimental and industrial music representative of the underground tape scene that thrived there in the 1980s. Orgelvärk was originally compiled and released on cassette in 1986 by Tor Sigvardson, also known for his own musical project 18:e Oktober and cassette label Neuköln. The vinyl edition includes five previously unreleased tracks which were submitted to Tor for the original 1986 cassette release but due to space limitations, never made it on there. All twenty-four songs have been remastered from their original tapes especially for vinyl by Tor himself.

Adapta – Adapta EP 1 [BRUTALSUN001]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS433917-01A-MED.jpg

Steve Conner unfurls a new project in the shape of Adapta, with this classy quartet of gritty machine funk for the newly minted Brutalist Sunset imprint. The Adapta project is the result of Conner’s live recording in a studio based around a redesigned Memorymoog synth bulked up with Roland and Elektron hardware. “Concrete Sun” in particular is an abrasive delight, with jagged textures scraping across a backdrop of scattergun binary melodies and swampy bass. “Duerden Sound” even sees him indulge in doom laden steppish dub techno, on an extended studio flex with particularly bleak thoughts running through their heads.

Philipp Gorbachev – In The Delta [CÓMEME012]

GORBACHEV, Philipp - In The Delta (Front Cover)

Comeme imprint return from a short break sporting a new addition to the family. Hailing from Moscow, Phillip Gorbachev’s arrival on the label sees them expand operations continentally and with real style. Proceedings get off to a thrusting start with the epic sounds of “In The Delta” little more than a steadily crescendo building arch of arpeggiated energy over straight-up proto kicks. “Gas Lady” is equally simple in its execution and deadly in its intent, grasping several layers of synthy excellence over searing tones and loose limbed electro rhythms. “Montana Blues” combines a cavernous house rhythm with over the top electric guitar axe riffs; and somehow manages to sound thrillingly sweat inducing as opposed to awful and cheesy. “Postovoi” ends this release in diverse style, throwing a big old gristly punk funk bassline underneath a storm cloud of descendant rhythms.

Glass Figure – Brightside Of House [SOL005]

‘Brightside of House’ represents the debut release for the french band Glass Figure, Christoph Le Gall and Julien Mercier.  They make dance music with the old age, iconic and of course comforting, tag of Acid House. The music that sound-tracked the 2nd summer of Love and for most Europeans, the soundtrack to arguably the last great cultural movement of the 20th Century. Crafting their music on “synthesizers Alpha Juno, TB-303, SH-101, TR-707, TR-909, TR-626, TR-808” plays a large part in the authenticity.
