Introducing Jogada, the group behind PÚCA001, a Berlin based trio made up by João Comazzi, Dave Murrin & Gavin Kenny. ‘Cavalo’ is their debut release and is the result of a string of weekly sessions held throughout the stagnant year of 2020. After years of friendship and sharing music together, they started exploring what happens when different musical backgrounds join forces. The group is heavily inspired by traditional Brazilian rhythms, instruments and sounds from nature, infused with some dusty synthesisers and a quest for exploring the unknown.
Bladymore Galaxy – Far From Galaxia [VOYA006]
Following several reported sightings, a time travelling biplane from Galaxia has arrived on planet earth. The pilot on board was transporting a USB stick containing cryptic code from an artist by the name “Bladymore Galaxy”. Having received the data in Italy, Free Voyage owner SMS(IT) got straight to work decoding the data. Inside he found a selection of timeless melodic music, with clear influence taken from travels to the past and future. Now converted to vinyl format, the music is ready for release on Earth.
Marcela Dias Sindaco – Beijo Elétrico [GTD018]
Marcela Dias Sindaco’s music captures the essence of Gated as a label, sitting half way between so many genres: bass-heavy electro, funky breaks, squelchy synth-boogie… but driven by Marcela’s breathy Portuguese vocals, expressing the depths of her carioca soul. Marcela grew up in Rio de Janeiro, and as a classically trained pianist and cellist, music was in her blood, but it was her dad’s obsession with Krautrock that influenced her early music taste. Later, travelling around Europe as a model, she discovered the clubs of Berlin, Paris and Milan and incorporated what she heard into her own music, using a studio filled with analogue equipment. The result joins the dots between heads-down club stompers, electrofunk, Prince, and Brazilian samba.

Ron Trent ‘The Medi’ was actually constructed while riding trains and in hotel rooms through Italy, used as a secret weapon in special occasions…and we can hear why: a mind expanding suite that keeps evolving and going in places and spaces while constantly beating you hard. On the flipside Other Lands brings things down to more abstract realms with the floating almost Kraut inspired jam ‘Matter’.

A key figure in Chicago’s second wave of influential house and techno producers, Mystic Bill returns to Classic Music Company with ‘Body Moves’, a release with serious club credentials and drenched in authentic NYC, New Jersey and Chicago influences. This 12” package is becoming a firm favourite of in-the-know selectors, no doubt thanks to its party-starting qualities that are sure to captivate floors. Featuring four versions of the track, Bill navigates various different analogue moods, kicking off with the vibing house of the original, as euphoric synth arpeggios and a warm, groovy bass blend for dancefloor magic. The Reprise Mix is another juicy club cut, with a full-throttle bassline that rips through the newly looped vocal. On the B-Side the NYC Mix demonstrates Mystic Bill’s trademark deepness, headsy enough for the darkest recesses of the dancefloors but with buckets full of energy for peaktime sets. The NYC Dub closes out, an essential club tool for any discerning selector.

Dos Ritmos – Materia EP [WRECKS038]
Luca Lozano and Phran’s ‘Dos Ritmos’ project released its first record back in 2018, the Antropophony EP was a result of the duo’s shared appreciation for heavy percussion and worldly drums, sampled and mashed together to create a pan-national representation of polyrhythms and atmospherics. The second release from the duo sees Phran direct the project and expand the collaborative nature of the working process, contributors Ribes, Ivy Barkakati, Jonathan Sirit, and Hidden Memory all bring their own influences and flavors to the table. The ‘Materia’ EP steers the ship in a simliar direction to the first EP but the resulting tracks are more stripped down, driving and focus directly on whats makes a groove a groove.

Toy Tonics regulars and Munich based House & Disco specialists Coeo step up for their ‘Dance Routines’ on the vinyl-only Resista.On the A side is a Gabonese Boogie weapon with a beyond funky bassline and body-rocking drums mixed with an amazing vocal, triumphant horns and syncopated guitar hits.
Over on the B1, a rolling Giorgio Morode-esque Disco synth bass is layered with jacking Proto House drums and Arabic chanting for a track that wouldn’t be amiss in a Hot Mix 5 show. Finally the B2 whips up a percussion frenzy with a deep droning bass stab and a hypnotic call and response vocal.
