Shamal Wind, the celebrated second album by UK flautist and sax player Chip Wickham gets revisited by three producers cooler than the other side of the pillow, hailing from London and Berlin. Max Graef, Reginald Omas Mamode IV and Ishmael Ensemble get their hands on the tracks of one of the jazz albums of the year and come up with four epic remixes.

What a wonderful outlier on Holland’s 030303 label, this one. Lush breaks, with hints of UK hardcore and classic bleep house inhabit this wonderful EP. The EP kicks of with the track ‘Animal Samba’ is more housey with memories of 808 State, UR and Reese springing to mind. A2 is called ‘Junglitter’ and with a tempo so low, the track is perfect for slow raving; this is Goldie abusing the hand break…Breaks are at its heaviest on the first track of the flipside: ‘Musiphon’ keeps rolling on a brilliant formula of a dominant bass line rolling at mid tempo while an LFO-esque melodie fights for a second position. The last one ‘Vedelius’ -like the artist- a four/four track accompanied with breaks with the quirky melody in the bass and nightmarish screams taking over. This is possibly the track most suitable for the dance floor, not a cozy one though.

Beyond the Pub is a collection of tracks for the after hours. From drunken treks to the filthy kebab shop to outer body experiences in the icy wonderlands, Cosmic Pint Glass tells the stories that happened after leaving the Social House. In Vol 1. Mark du Mosch adds tension, FRAK takes you on that boozy journey to the Kebab Shop, Julian G reflects on the beauty of a frozen wonderland and Lie of the Land takes you on a introspective acid journey.

High Scoring EP from one of the hardest working producers we know. The A side is a pacey affair – a multi-ball dancefloor battle against the Grand Lizard. The two equally neon treasures on the B side were recorded at the gear laden Worm studio, Rotterdam in 2017. This is another cracking solo outing from the Ju Ju & Jordash / Magic Mountain High linchpin.

The elusive producer ‘Nortasun’ hasn’t released a record since his debut ‘One’ through SAFT back in 2016. After two years, it’s time for a follow up which is fittingly named ‘Two’. The track titles also resume in a fashionable manner with the opening track being titled: ‘Untitled 3’. On this track, Nortasun introduces a firm rhythm that is supported by the impossibly beautiful strings that serve as the tracks key element and appear throughout. Next up is the ‘AntonZap’ remix. AntonZap doesn’t do the stereotypical remix take on the original. His version is dub laden, otherworldly, and only implements miniscule pieces from the original take. With just under 7 minutes, the remix version is a true sonic voyage.

Tuskegee Music welcomes a standout dance music innovator with a new EP from Chicago great Jamal Moss.

Gifted Culture collective is ready to unleash the second jam session of the announced trilogy. GMI Jam Venice comes from the filth and the mug of the abandoned ex-industrial area in the outskirts of Venice. There, Autre and Two Thou invade Hawaiian Chips’ top-notch studio, where all together ride 70’s synthesizer rarities and try to domesticate the monstrous Yamaha CS 80. This jam, inspired by the post-industrial Venetian scenario, dives between the dreams of archetypal electronic music and reminiscences of psychedelic progressive bands, giving birth to two long journeys ready to gently carry the dance floor into the outer space.

Two absolutely legendary pieces of early Chicago house music finally reissued for 2018. Lucas Croon half of Bar and also known for his work with Dusseldorf projects like Stabil Elite and our uncle Themes For Great Cities delivers a four track EP full of downtempo synth and rhythm excursions.

Gerd returns to AUS with The Prophetess EP, a four tracker that showcases a producer capable of soundtracking peak-time moments anywhere and everywhere. The A side leans towards breaky drums and punchy melodies whilst the flip includes two acid bombs.

For the fourth instalment of SCB remix EPs from Hotflush, Mor Elian and Hammer step up for their own interpretations of tracks from Caibu. Fever AM label co-founder and hybrid club producer Mor Elian provides a spaced out take on ‘Fish Bowl’ full of angular drums and woozy synths. For his take on ‘Test Tubes’, Hammer formulates a steady groover for the after hours.

The heavy industrial crunch and rubbery synths of FRAK’s trademark sounds come to Hypercolour with the four track ‘Berga Magic’. The EP comes brimming with raw analogue explorations and delightfully incongruous noise.

Baltra returns to Of Paradise with his ‘Can’t Explain It’ EP, a kaleidoscopic and dazzling journey through the heart and soul of raw and hazy house music.
