For more than twelve years, Morphology have been re-writing the rules of electronics. Michael Diekmann and Matti Turunen have melted electro, IDM and techno into their own unique sound. To celebrate their achievements, FireScope has sifted through the impressive discography of this Finnish pairing to bring long out of print tracks back to life. Split over two 2×12 inche releases, Twelve 1 & 2 brings together a decade’s worth of music released between 2009 and 2019, 24 works that traverse genres and labels like Abstract Forms, AC Records, Analogical Force, Central Processing Unit, Cultivated Electronics, diametric., Inner Space Records, Semantica, Stilleben and Vortex Traks.
Finnish twosome Morphology has released some incredible records over the years – mostly of the intergalactic electro time – but we’d wager few are as sonically sparkling, life-affirming or pleasingly melodious as their latest two-tracker. ‘Destroit’, the A-side cut, is simply sublime: a far-sighted, futuristic fusion of crunchy, Chicago-influenced machine drums – all snappy snares, tough kicks and fizzing cymbals arranged into a delicious post-electro rhythm – intergalactic chords and bright, breezy electronic melodies that tap into the sci-fi sounds of purist Motor City techno. The duo opts for a warmer and woozier, acid-flecked sound on flipside ‘Distance’, a classic-sounding chunk of deep ambient techno tailor-made for late nights and early mornings.
Morphology return to Cultivated Electronics with the follow up to their 2017 EP ‘Mind Stealers’ (CE023). ‘The Dark Wheel EP’ marks their fourth EP for Sync 24’s label. Morphology are Finnish duo Michael Diekmann and Matti Turunen. Formed in 2009, Morphology fuse early electro sounds with haunting melodies to create a deep blend of atmospheric future funk, and their new EP ‘The Dark Wheel’ is no exception, as they deliver four tracks of faultless production technique, warm synths and crisp drum-work.
Much talked about project, now release is finally coming into fruition. Morphology approached Exalt with the idea of releasing one of their tracks. Roll forward a year and this 4 track EP comes with 2 brand new original Morphology tracks and stellar remixes from John Shima and B12 legend Steven Rutter.
The Finnish duo Morphology joins FireScope Records for their 10-track ‘Traveller’ LP, a vision of travel to destination unknown. Morphology’s third album continues their intensive deep-space exploration at the intersection of electronic/electro music and scientific discovery. Awash in the beautiful sounds of hardware-derived music direct from Morphology’s command center, the album takes listeners into their skilfully crafted universe. Each track is a new world in itself of crisp beats, deep basslines and melancholic melodies. Interspersing the frenetic pace of hyper-speed travel with ethereal landings, ‘Traveller’ is an intergalactic trip without taking off your headphones.

Diametric is pleased to announce the return of Morphology with a release of four new deep electro/techno tracks. Being praised as one of the finest electro acts in recent years, this new twelve-inch showcases why this praise is so well-deserved. The Finnish duo, Michael Diekmann and Matti Turunen deliver their mix of superb machine funk, electro beats and melancholic deep synth work to perfection here. ‘Herschel Crater’ will cause some serious frenzy on the dancefloor with its straightforward beats and dark sequence that respectfully nods toward the sound of Drexciya.
Semantica’s electro department puts on display Morphology, a Finnish act consisting of Matti Turunen and Michael Diekmann. Their second single for the Spanish label is something for electro purists. Although in “Dalek Invasion” one might expect deviant sci-fi rumble, it’s a friendly tune with gentle pads, reminding of Dopplereffekt. Carrying the mood of a suburban sunset, “Journey’s End” features fatter bass along with clean riffs and hints of jazz-funk for an old-school flavored track.
New release on Cultivated Electronics by the Electro flavour of the moment Morphology. The EP kicks off with the title track ”Information Paradox” a solid, smooth, straight up electro jam with punchy 808 kicks and snares, crisp 606 hats, tight percussion and a minimal quirky bass line over layered with signature Morphology strings. “Escape Velocity” heads into more a 4/4 electro groove, a territory not really explored by Morphology to date. Super spooky pads and stabs float over a rolling groove and staccato bass making this a real dance floor treat!! On the flip label head Sync 24 takes to remix duty on ”Information Paradox”. This mix picks up the pace of the original and moves into darker grounds with a pulsating bass line, hypnotic arpeggio, spacey keys and eerie pads. The EP is rounded off with ”Tangent Spaces” a beautiful, deep piece perfect for the start the night or after hours chilling. Smooth rolling beats, lush chords and dreamy piano keys make this the perfect end to the EP.
The new Nucleosynthesis Ep from the finnish Duo Morphology shows the classic future sound of electro. A1 and A2 are two dark, atmospheric tracks with lots of analogue power. The tracks on B-side combines spacy and melodic sequences with the fine drum-programming.
