VA – Yellow Jackets Vol. 5 [YJ005]

Time for another chapter in the ever expanding Yellow Jackets series from Mother Tongue. On the A side we have Marcellus Pittman’s rework of the Belgian 1983 cult track ‘Death Disco’ by Arbeid Adelt! Not much to say about this one, it’s simply a nasty piece of industrial acid disco. On the flipside Chicago’s genius, Hieroglyphic Being , brings the listener to an astral ceremony with ‘An Astronomical Object’.

Fred P / Specter & Jose Rico – Yellow Jackets Vol.4 [YJ004]

Yellow Jackets number four follows the direction of the previous releases with more phat jams spread on a vinyl only 12’. Fred P offers the rhythmic yet melodic and spiritually engaging ‘Inspired By Dopeness’. Chicago’s own Specter and Madrid’s Josè Rico, who often work together as Our Own Organization, go extradeep, raw and hipnotic on the other side with the aptly titled ‘You Don’t Believe’.

Ron Trent / Other Lands – Yellow Jackets Vol.2 [YJ002]

Mother Tongue keeping the pressure high and unleashing straight away the follow up to the deadly Yellow Jackets Vol.1. This second Yellow Jackets double A sider features Chicago’s royalty Ron Trent and the extra talented multi instrumentalist Other Lands. Ron Trent ‘The Medi’ was actually constructed while riding trains and in hotel rooms through Italy, used as a secret weapon in special occasions…and we can hear why: a mind expanding suite that keeps evolving and going in places and spaces while constantly beating you hard. On the flipside Other Lands brings things down to more abstract realms with the floating almost Kraut inspired jam ‘Matter’.
