Over 20 years of friendship and Reggie Dokes and Red D are still at it. Their first joint E.P. was released on Red D’s We Play House Recordings label and kicked off the label’s much-lauded U.S. Series in 2019. Moving back across the pond we now find Reggie and Bart sharing a release on Reggie’s legendary Psychostasia imprint. On the A-side Reggie is bringing his trademark sound and taking it deeper than ever. Moody melancholy paired with solid beats and drums to take you into deep house heaven. On the flip Red D brings his Detroit inspiration into deep and swinging techno territory reminding us of Scan 7 and the likes with a vocal that gives a respectful nod to an Underground Resistance classic.

“The Vault Vol. 1” is an auditory voyage through the heart of Detroit’s finest dusty crates, a compilation of beats and melodies meticulously crafted by esteemed producer Reggie Dokes. Dokes unveils a treasure trove of his finest deep house creations, never before released on vinyl. Delve into the hypnotic rhythms, lush harmonies, and pulsating basslines that define Dokes’ signature sound, as he seamlessly blends elements of house and soul to create an immersive sonic experience.

Without question, Reggie Dokes is a soldier of Deep House. Touches of jazz and otherworldliness find there way on his latest EP with Contrafact Records. Three tracks ranging from the sultry to the beyond, putting the listener into a blissful state. A must have for the fans of Deep House.

Norm Talley’s Upstairs Asylum label only arrived in 2021 but is already up there with the great Motor City imprints. The boss has been busy putting together a trio of new EPs for the first half of 2023 that showcases a wealth of Mid-West talent. House hero Boo Williams kicks off this one with his typically tight drum programming and party-starting synth work on ‘Tickin Clock.’ Eric Johnson keeps it raw, deep and loopy on ‘Melodic Gruv’ then Reggie Dokes brings his signature Atlanta house sound to ‘Mother’s Child’ with its melancholic lead sax and ‘End of Time’ is a broken beat bliss out.

With “Universe Speaks”, Reggie Dokes is at the helm of the third release for Still Techno. It is rare for Reggie to drop 4 deep techno tracks on one serving but here we are. All tracks featured on “Universe Speaks” are an ode to the dancefoor and Detroit, where melodies, jazz, percussions and real electronic music collide to create a new and subtile soundscape.

Inspired and positivie vibrations from the DJ, producer and label head, Reggie Dokes from Detroit City.

London/Lisbon label Release/Sustain start the year as they mean to go on. Presenting a 4 track various artists 12” titled “Nightfall & Other Stories”. Opening proceedings on A1 is Vakula, a regular at the Release/Sustain ‘Conclave’ parties and part of the RS family. His offering, “809”, is a percussive drum tool trip of a track, with sporadic raw percussion shooting shining across a positively minimalist backing. For A2, we see Italian stalwart of underground dance music Simoncino. Obscure sample work, and a repeating line ‘I can use a friend’, twist and turn over rugged, thumping, functional drums and bass. Furthering the quality of this standout 12” is Chicago house music pioneer Vincent Floyd. Rich in melody and familiar classic house sounds, Reggie’s soft jacking house sound bring a silky smooth, North American touch to a previously rugged, European 12 slab of wax.

Sistrum welcomes the second installment in the Genesis Tracks series, bringing together four special cuts from Patrice Scott, Reggie Dokes, Eric Cloutier and Kai Alce. Label head, Patrice Scott opens the EP right – setting the tone with a smooth excursion into lush chord stabs and deep, low end vibrations. Vintage strings ride high, while tinkling jazz keys dance amongst the waveforms, making for yet another future classic in the Sistrum lineage. Mr. Reggie Dokes offers up nothing less than a baptism by sound for his contribution, going deep with reverberant rhythms and crisp synth work, crafting an interstellar afro journey of the highest order. Keeping the quality at its highest, Eric Cloutier’s entry is a deep, techy mover – designed to lock the dancefloor into a hypnotic state. Drifting strings provide the foundation for highly modulated, gritty chord stabs to lead the way through the darkest of dancefloors. Kai Alce rounds out the EP in fine form – stripping things back to the essentials. ‘Jelly’ is raw, bouncy goodness, simply put. The filtered down acid-esque bassline is nothing short of a call to movement for all believers in the authentic sounds of house music.

The second release on People of Earth is from another Detroit native that calls Atlanta home, Mr. Reggie Dokes. The Psychostasia Boss is back with his trademark jazzy, soulful house tracks that blend techno and house in a way that only Reggie can. Straight dance floor heat.

Ten years of Deep Explorer… The celebration started with “The Capsule remixes 10” that was released 2 months ago, now is closed with this “Far & Beyond”, a double pack vinyl where the brothers and heads of the label (Dubbyman & Above Smoke) make their own selection of exclusive material into groove and dark deepest house tunes from artists worldwide.

The ever-loving team at Still Music present yet another unmissable selection of East side beats, this time shifting focus from Chicago to Detroit to shine the light on some of the less celebrated talents operating in the city. There is boundless quality at every turn here, from the jazzed out tones of Craig Huckaby to the raw chemistry of Marcellus Pittman. Terrence Dixon does an excellent demonstration of wormhole techno with “The Fall Guy (Part 1)”, and DJ 3000 brings a demonic brand of slow-chugging house to the table. Alex Israel also reminds everyone that he truly is one of the most slept-on gems the Motor City has to offer, so get busy and connect with this utterly essential selection.

Cinematic’s latest release comes from Reggie Dokes in the form of “Child of The Sun EP”. An inspired artist hailing from Detroit, Reggie spoils us with three funk fuelled cuts via the motor city.

Reggie Dokes is on a mission to captivate the mind and soul with creative and inspiring techno. The first release on this new Kuumba label comes with three tracks that are moody, eclectic and dancefloor friendly.

Reggie Dokes returns on Clone Royal Oak, with 2 amazing tracks. Emotional and passionated house tracks, raw, unpolished music. Title track “Once Again” has received a remix treatment by two young dutch producers called Morning Factory. These guys show the same passion for their productions as Reggie, and they delivered a great edit version that added some extra energy to the original mix.

Reggie Dokes is definitely keeping busy – “House Is My Soul” is the latest in a series of releases for 2010. Deep, melodic Detroit house done in Reggie’s signature, string heavy style which already has many fans.

After his big release on the Clone Loft Supreme Series, and great tracks on Prime Numbers and Philpot Mr Dokes is back in the spot lights. Here another intense three track ep with tracks that ll give you goose bumps all over. With his special way of programming, his dramatic strings and light piano play and shuffling house beats this is one of those artists with a special musical finger print that one recognizes out of thousands. A rare talent which puts more value on playing with his moods and emotions instead of aiming in straight dancefloor power. This 12 is building on what he started with the Chicago Pimp release… Pure house tracks with a deep irresistible drive combined with joyful keys and seductive strings. Some magic tracks from Mr Dokes!
