Back and cooking up more funk and flavor with his second album for Rekids, Mr G proves he’s still the king of rhythm with ‘State Of Flux’. Packing more history than most of the top current producers put together, Mr G has been fine-tuning his breed of music for two decades. Described by the man himself as “it’s all about a bassline”, his music takes the formula of a ballad and the movement of reggae.

Edit-Select013 features a new track from Mark Broom and a heavyweight Edit Select remix. Expect more suspended alien terror and sub-aural rumblings from distant planets. Totally convulsive and burning with radioactivity. The original takes cues from Jeff Mills’ space exploration; spitting synths sit low in the mix while looping 3/4 arpeggios disorientate and hypnotise. A completely mechanized bassline chugs without missing a single beat. The Edit Select mix adds static hats and whirling, sweeping atmospheres which suggest we’re preparing to take off to another planet rather than explore the one we’re already on.

The Box series returns on Theory with 3 peak time tough edged tracks. “Bite This” sees Ben Sims drop an anthemic analogue fuelled jacker. “Reverse Processed” from Holland’s Ritzi Lee is an uncompromising old school Techno banger and “Dry Run” by Paul Mac is a drum heavy DJ tool with a crowd pleasing vocal sample

More business from the man like Sanys, on his fledging Downfall Theory label. Like previous releases the mastering and cut on these records is truly electrifying, and sure to send currents of energy through most underground rave dungeons. “Forward Thinking” has rattling percussion against a sonic bed of luminescent strings, twangy acid bleeps and an intermittent piercing lead. “Front Row” is more heads down. The phasing percussion jars rigidly in between the grooves while some filters get to work on the pads. A head-mangling track which should get people pulling out the strangest of shapes, if they manage to keep vertical that is.

Inner Surface Music present their fourth release with two stalwarts of the UK underground techno scene – Patrick Walker and Inigo Kennedy. ‘Data Distill” kicks off proceedings with tough but grooving rhythms snaking through twisted melodies and textural sound scapes. ‘Parity Function’ starts as it means to go on, the kick drum and groove has a major stomp to it, while spacey bell sequences play with the subterranean dub chords and metallic drones, building tension to the track and locking you in. ‘XOR gate’ is spaced out techno at it’s best, driving dubby drum palettes build with the echoing bell sequences and cinematic strings, transporting you to scenes of a far away place.

EarToGround Records 3rd release, once again features as a limited pressing on high quality black wax and is likely to be seen by techno purists as ready to go dj ammunition for a variety of dance floors, as each track & remix carries its own identity. Solid techno gems by Chris Stanford, Dax J and Gareth Wild. Features strong remixes from Samuli Kemppi & hard-hitters AnD.

The Secret Initiative return with the latest chapter in the series. Going for a classic Detroit and Chicago Techno House vibe. ”East of the Northern Star” blends dark dub-ish chords , deep melodies over classic 909 Wild Pitch styled drum rhythms. On the flip side ”Half A Life Ago” is a proper classic Detroit drum driven fueled affair layered with a lower the low deep hertz baseline , melancholic strings.

Bocca Grande is the alis name under which Kousuke Ishida is producing music focusing and marked by the piano blending in with electric sounds to the expression of music with former piano teacher Yuka Kobayashi. This is a nice remix package featuring Morphosis, Artifact, Chromatic Filters and Corrado Bucci.

Hands Up is the production team formed by The Analogue Cops and Alex Picone. Their analogue joint venture has groundbreaking results. Machine powered house music heavily influenced by the Berliner dub techno and by the funkiest 2step ,with a debt to Detroit. This first release features 2 dancefloor killers recorded on tape and saturated with bass.
