Amir makes his triumphant return to Argot with an exceptional and strange EP, across three arresting new tracks. The Butterfly is a seductive record. Its supple grooves and unique textures are ear-catching whether or not you notice the twisted lyrics of “Butterfly (The Monarch)” or the read into titles like “Many False Prophets”. Yet close observers are rewarded with bread crumbs that bring Alexander’s perspective into focus
Interval is the longest musical event in European nightlife history. Planned as a 100 hour nonstop party, it takes place in 3 of Bucharest’s central hubs devoted to house & techno fans. Interval features 100 international and local artists as well as over 380 hours of music throughout its 5 days.
Amir Alexander’s Anthology one brings together 4 of his most in demand tacks spread out over 3 EP’s onto one 12 inch compilation. ‘Necessary Sanctuary’ has proven to be an instant classic since it’s quiet and humble release 5 years ago. Both tracks are included. The Original Mix and the 3 AM Dub. Also included is ”The Universe’ from his Deep Vibes released Outsider Music EP, as well as The lovely ‘Transcend’ for Amir’s first full solo EP on Machining Dreams.
Anaxander, contributes two beautiful pieces and has one of them reworked by Amir Alexander. Lost My Soul (in Yours) is twisted little number, with dual synth riffs echoing off each other for maximum effect. A Question About You uses jazzy chords and flutes over its undeniable bassline to retain some soulful flavoring, but Amir strips all of that away on his interpretation, preffering instead to let the acid and the warehouse vibes have their way, taking things right into a 6am rave nightmare.
Amir Alexander returns to New York’s Plan B Recordings with three dusty house trax. “Channeling” kicks things off with a sullen, funky bassline and intricate swings of percussion backed by distant piano keys, whereas “Deep Banger”, as the title suggests, is more of a straight-up house jerker, and “Nocturnal” fuzzes things out with its growling bassline and eerie background atmospherics.
AAACID003 is the second EP from Amir Alexander’s Richi Ratchet Moniker. The major difference in the work of Richie and his twin Brother Jack Ingoff is the clever use of vocals. Singlehandedly writing new chapter in the Acid House Manual with off kilter polyrhythms, odd time signatures, and unconventional tongue and cheek topics, Amir through his AAACID label continues to go from strength to strength as he seeks to refine and progress the artform of Acid Jack.
“A recontextualized hybridization of that which is familiar to create the foreign….
Using classic Chicago, Detroit and New York as a reference, I sought to explore new sonic possibilities while limiting myself to the classic machines and sounds of the era that inspired me to dedicate my life to this art-form.
Revivalism was not my intent. Perhaps neo-futurism if any ism’s must be assigned. That, and a strict code of minimalism. I aspire to use time, space, and absence, as well rhythm and sound, all in equal measure to create suggestive music (pun intended). Defined as much by what is not there as by what is. Music for travel. For Dance. For Contemplation. In a club among hundreds, or at home in bed.
An album. Along player. A fantastical voyage through the soul and mind via abstract, minimalist etudes exploring the range of emotions that are joined to a particular year in my life. Using as few elements as possible to create the most emotive material I could, these studies are recorded documentation of one student’s pursuits to master the craft of creating raw, yet elegant. Rich and sonorous, yet stripped down modern electronic music. For the club, at home, and everywhere between. Modern music for modern living.
I hope to contribute to the progression of the form and create excitement in the next generation so that some of them will also be inspired to expressively create and add on to the culture. Peace”
Amir Alexander Acid (AAACID) returns with his Jack Ingoff alias, a sub-alias of his Smiley Virus pseudonym to bring you an abstract acid dj tool EP. As per usual, the tracks on this label always feature odd time synth patterns against 4×4 beats creating poly-rhythmic effect that first stupefies and then invigorates the crowd as they realize that these are not the average acid tracks. Stripped raw bangers. Just 909 and a 303 pure and simple.
