It’s that time of the year when celebrations are coming around and this year we have one more reason to celebrate. In November 2008, being in a trip to Amsterdam, I’ve attended a party at the famous club Studio 80. There, in the small & dark backroom of the club, I was absolutely mesmerized by the eclectic session of a young DJ that crafted together techno, electro, Chicago and italo. Now, exactly 5 years from then and 3 years of trying to book this man, finally we made it!

Here you go! A surprise edition of the Hipodrome Podcast series, a back2back session from Muzikalist and Maxi Clash aka Eugene Efimenko and Maxim Falaleev, two young DJs, musicians and promoters based in Kaliningrad. They forged down a “Guide To The Dark” with more than two hours of acid house and techno.

Here we have a very special installment of The Hipodrome Of Music podcast series, featuring a guy that I was hunting for a long time to get it on Hipodrome. Iulian Cazan aka Jay Bliss is one of the persons and djs that had a great influence on my evolution in the electronic music, opening my mind to new musical horizons when moving to Sibiu 8 years ago.
Since then, Iuli has moved from being one of Romania’s youngest dj talents to one of the most respected Romanian producers and djs, with releases on labels like Diynamic, Hudd Traxx, Fear of Flying, All Inn and 20:20 Vision and collaborations with fellow Romania starlets Mihai Popoviciu, Petre Inspirescu and international artist like Och, Markus Homm and Skudge. Also he had shows all around Europe, from UK and Spain to Germany, Holland and Russia.

Another year passed imperceptibly and The Hipodrome Of Music blog is still here promoting uncompromising music and artists alike. After having invited some of the heavyweights of the electronic music scene (Mick Wills, Traxx, Intergalactic Gary) this year we are looking to the future.

After a quite long break, we are back with the 13th installment of the Hipodrome Podcast Series. And it’s a very special podcast indeed, because we had the pleasure to invite Mr. Leon Segka for this one.
Leon Segka has been making music since early 1998 and he is one of the main figures of the Greek electronic music scene. In 2000 he established the highly successful Ntrop Recordings and since then he is producing music under different aliases and projects.
I hope you enjoy this!

2 Years of Hipodrome
In October we celebrate 2 years since the blog was started, with a special guest from the Hague, Intergalactic Gary.
Having a professional DJ career of over 20 years, with special appearances in Berlin, Munich, The Hague, Amsterdam, Moscow, Dublin, Glasgow, Madrid, Barcelona, Geneva and many many more IG will come for the first time in Romania, October 8th at the 2 Years of Hipodrome celebration.
Prepare yourself, physically and mentally for a journey through time and space with the best of Chicago and Acid House, Italo-Disco and Electro.

Levente Takacs aka Ivel Tax is next in line for Hipodrome Podcast Series. Levi is a young dj, producer and label owner from Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He started his producing career some years back, having his debut in 2007. Since then he had the privilege to work or to share releases with artists like Aaron-Carl, Jefferson Velazquez, Steffi or the Dutch duo Jeroen Search & Dimi Angelis and labels like Terpsichore, All Inn or Studio Soulrock.
He is also managing the Green Apple Radio Show, a 2 hours monthly show on Proton Radio and Ensonic Radio, showcasing exclusive mixes from world renown Djs like Brandon Moeller, Stewart Walker, Robert Dietz, Bazz or Phil Weeks.
In 2009, Levi started his own label Disco Birds focusing on underground house music.

“It’s been a while since the last podcast saw the light of day, so we would like to make it up to you, our fans and supporters with the first session that comes from Mick Wills, who has been with Nation for quite a while now, and even though he didn’t have the chance to shine with his productions yet, his Jock-Abilities are just as admirable.
This Session was recorded at Champagneria Berlin, in the heart of Kreuzberg, while Mick visited some friends of ours from a far away and haunted place, and they decided to throw a little shindig.
“Master of the Edit” Mick Wills dives deep into his record-box and fuses together a unique pastry of older and newer records, higher and lower, darker and lighter, Alpha and Omega!”

We are at number 10 with our series and we have a mix from DJ soFa, from Brussels. As he likes to say, he is a “dj and vinyl victim” since 1997, playing all around Brussels, Belgium and Europe. He is a very eclectic dj, playing a wide range of electronic music, from dubstep to house and techno, always doing experiments. Being a versatile dj he managed, during the years, to share the stage with artists from a very diverse spectrum of electronic music, artists like Aardvarck, Actress, Ceephax, Danny Breaks, Egyptian Lover, Mike Dehnert, MLZ, Neil Landstrumm, Shackleton, Spirit Catcher, Substance & Vainqueur, Tim Exile and many others.
DJ soFa is running Lamadameaveclechien, an independent label that aims to release good and eclectic music on physical formats (vinyl and CD). The label is releasing mostly experimental stuff from friends and artists that share the same musical vision.
DJ soFa will visit Bucharest and Sibiu at the beginning of April, so listen carefully this podcast to get a glance of what you will experience during these two parties.

It’s time for the first podcast from the new year and we bring you a very special session from a vinyl devoted person. Lektronikumuz, Remus Miron in his real name, is a true defender and keeper of the vinyl, one of the last of his kind in Romania. Remus is playing exclusively vinyl and he is, in my opinion, the only dj still playing regularly quality Detroit techno in Romania.

The year 2010 was a good year, we started to do the podcast series and some events also, bringing artist like Mick Wills and Traxx and revealing mysterious cats like Das Komitee and Transilmania. Mostly we championed the Chicago sound in our podcast series, there was also some techno on the side and Italo in the middle.
Now we present the last podcast of 2010, a session from Alexander D’niel, a young artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina. This podcast is an one hour length incursion in the berghain-esque sound.
Happy holidays and happy listening.
