Ben Sun On Delusions Of Grandeur. Kicking off the EP we have the title track Your Footprints setting the scene with Benʼs trademark raw hihats, bass and 909 kick. Next up Ben drops the BPMʼs a little for a lovely, loose, lo-slung number known as Affirmation. A snaking analogue bass line provides the hook and sets the scene whilst a layer of moody chords build around it underpinned by benʼs carefully crafted MPC beats and vocal FX. Finally we have the Chicago don Tevo Howard getting busy on his remix of Your Footprints.

RoundHouse Kick are a couple from Portugal, one with unusual couple fixations: they’re constantly buying, experimenting and selling synths, drum machines and records. Combining analogue and digital in search of an honest, evocative sound, inspired in equal parts by the increasingly documented traditions of Detroit and Chicago and the formative early years of a naive and emotional portuguese rave scene. DMT’s first one-sided 33 rpm colored vinyl release consists of two tracks by Knotweed Records owner Philippe Petit. ‘Give’ starts with some spaced-out chords and then shifts into a dubby Detroit inspired floor filler. The second track, ‘Take’, is a much darker heavy peak-time affair aimed at blowing the roof off!
The newest offering from Luke Hess’ Deeplabs imprint: Warehouse Sessions Volume 1. All four producers on duty here keep the vibe deep and unique, jacking at times while laid back and cosmic at others. Four tracks with a groove firmly rooted in early to mid-nineties Detroit warehouse techno, the results mix analog instruments and machines with a dose of atmospheric dub.
