Oleg Poliakov also known for his releases under the ‘Skat’ moniker, Oleg’s early production career was built on creating beats for Hip-Hop MC’s and lending his studio skills to Rappers. Switching to Radio production, he went onto to work with French national stations, further enhancing his technical skills. It was at this time his began to explore electronic music as a composer. With a sound that strays from specifics, he looks to create his own compositions using a subtle combo of all electronic worlds.

Debut release from Tom Bugs on FXHE Records. Bugs is the man behind the BugBrand modular synthesizer company in the UK. His hand built electronics have become a staple in many studios including that of FXHE label head Omar-S. “Living Leaving” is a peak into the creative mind of Bugs- two extended tracks that wander amongst the outer boundaries of techno, experimental, and ambient electronic music.

R-Zone – R-Zone 02 [RZONE002]

R-Zone is a new label launched by Global Darkness. Who is involved isn’t exactly a secret, those who feel so inclined can piece the information together quite easily. It is however irrelevant to the concept of R-Zone, which would like to shift the focus away from namedropping and perception based on hype around individual artists and bring it back where it belongs; in the lap of the music.

VA – Network EP [ANDERTRAXX002]

Ander-Traxx is back with more supremely crafted tracks from label head Alex-Ander. This E.P definitely has a strong low-end swing to it, and there’s a subtle rawness gathering in the heart of all the productions here. This is probably best exemplified in the tough soul of Borrowed Identity’s “Reflection”: reminiscent of some of the less aggressive U.R cuts of the past. In fact, all the original tracks presented here have that elusive touch, one that is actually rather hard to convey in writing. “Broken Tape” by Alex-Ander is a leisure-pace stomper worthy of the Fit catalogue, that gives us one of the most syrupy basslines we’ve heard around these parts in a while Slowburn’s “Dermopad” brings abstract elements to a righteous groove: well-implemented Chicago/Detroit influences, unafraid to introduce new sound palettes to a heavily aped style. For remix duties, main man Meschi returns after his appearance on Ander-Traxx 001, putting his solid sound signature on “Broken Tape”, showing us once again his deft talent for structure and ability to tickle the ivories.
