Altered Moods Recordings prepares its 28th release, “Our Ways” by Birmingham, UK producers LAAK. The release features four deep, melodic house tracks for your listening pleasure.
Sisterhood – Tunnels [TIEF005]
Tunnels features three original tracks showcasing the London based duo’s versatility and maturity as producers with Bicep reconstructing the title track, morphing it into a punchy, bassline focused roller with piercing atmospheric pads.
MK – Strider [MU003]
MK aka Marc Kinchen should need no introduction, he still is the master of the finest Dubs and Remixes in the House business for more than two decades. His 1991 track Strider remained an obscure Detroit Techno classic only for those who know and were lucky enough to get hold of the a rare test pressing of MKs first release Get It Right! on his own imprint called Masahiro Records which later became Area 10. However Strider didnt made it to the official release and was replaced by another track, as years gone by a video of this true gem caught a lot of attention and leaded to this reissue eventually. The track was remastered and comes with an additional extended version edited by Mojuba’s very own Oracy.

Nick Anthony Simoncino feat. Robert Owens – Some People EP [TRA028]
Italian producer & Hot Mix label boss Nick Anthony Simoncino is back with “Some People”, a collaboration with Chicago’s legendary House vocalist Robert Owens. Simoncino’s 3 original mixes sound just like tracks lifted off lost EP’s straight from the mid 80’s with deep, melancholy synths, driving analogue drum machine sounds and Owen’s yearning vocal performance coming together beautifully while showing off Simoncino’s versatility as a producer. “Some People” is perfect late night House music with a classic sensibility, for the deepest hours of the night or the morning. On remix duties we have the UK’s very own Chamboche who delivers a deep, rolling version of “Some People” keeping things nice and stripped back and adding a dubby quality to his mix while Finnish new school House head Trevor Deep Jr’s “Warehouse Mix” keeps Owen’s vocals right up-front with some killer drum programming and percussion rounding out the EP while keeping the old school vibe firmly anchored to the dance-floor.
Melja – Steady Mobbin’ EP [MSN011]
For this release the New York label has exhumed from Melja three cuts of bottom-end heavy, lo-fi and distorted techno music that will beef up a house set or nestle into a rhythm section of a long haul techno session. “I Won’t Forget” is the heaviest, industrial track on this 12″ while “Steady Mobbin” is body rhythmic, but with out the slam and assault you might hear from say.
Andreas Gehm aka Elec Pt.1 – Voodoo Wolf [CCC514]
Six nu-jack/acid trax by the Gehm. Voodoo Wolf features a sextet of stripped-back machine jams, which range from the spooky acid house of “Warming To The Galaxy” and ragging, Steve Poindexter-meets-Phuture wildness of “If I Was”, to the riotous, Dancemania-ish ghetto-house revelry of “Clap Your Hands” and the Larry Heard-ish melancholia of “77-88”.
Marko Furstenberg – Ghosts From The Past [ORN032LP]
Remarkably, it’s been 11 years since Leipzig-based minimal techno producer Marko Furstenberg released his debut album, Gesamtlaufzeit. While he’s been pottering away releasing singles ever since, Ghosts from the Past marks a welcome return to the full-length format. Like its’ predecessor, it delivers a range of smooth, warm, hypnotic and dub-influenced techno missives, high on tactile textures and low on crusty textures. The result is a set rippling with intoxicating grooves, soft-focus rhythms, fluttering chords and woozy late night electronics. Wisely, Furstenberg inserts a number of sublime downtempo interludes to break up the flow a little, with the beautiful “Piano” standing out.
Jp Enfant – Echoes Of You Ep [ARTLESS2189]
The next techno adventure on Mojuba sub label a.r.t.less is ready to launch. This release is the shimmering debut by JP Enfant aka Jean Pierre Enfant, one of the initiators of the well respected LET (Les Enfants Terribles) crew from Amsterdam and established Trouw resident. This EP hits you with three unique Techno tracks fully charged with emotions.
Simone Gatto – Moss EP [VOSNOS003]
Vosnos third release features Simone Gatto along with a remix from the dutch artist Orlando Voorn. On his Moss EP he opens up with The way of life a realy nice off beat dub techno track, which with its subtleness, brings a punch to any techno set be it a starter, mid session or end track. Moss gives you an opportunity to explore minimal house at its best. Simone invited Orlando Voorn to interpret The way of life and good on him for doing so! Orlando stays true to the original, which we praise here at Vosnos, and brings it that anthem feel without getting to obvious.

Ekman – Entropy [TTT030]
Ekman makes his TTT label debut with some crushing electronics. The Entropy EP finds Roel Dijcks expanding his palette further. There’s a sense of abstraction throughout all four tracks here, with notions of rhythm only loosely adhered too, with the overwhelming sonic pressure of “?0” and “Dissipation” offset by the lighter title track. Closer “?S” veers into the crawlspace between the insectile sound design of Mike Parker and the lysergic hardware manipulations of Hieroglyphic Being.
Gunnar Haslam / Acid Jesus – Overcomplete / Radium [NAIF006]
Two sureshots for the acid-proof dancefloor by Naif. On side A, Gunnar Haslam who delivers a blinding acid-journey of a rare kind with the track Overcomplete. Roman Flugel serves a re-release of one of Acid Jesus finest jams: Radium (with Jorn Elling Wuttke).
Emile Strunz – North Sea Body Music [FLR010]
‘Merck 274350’ With its propulsive mechanical basslines, industrial-strength percussion, and a Germanic vocodered mantra, this Teutonic Panzer Tank of a track takes absolutely no prisoners – an electronic matter of fact statement inspired by the passing of time, fate, circumstance, and synchronicity. Holland’s misanthropic high priest of psychedelic, doomy, dark house & techno, Drvg Cvltvre, delivers a trippy interpretation, turning the track into a lysergic love letter to this iconic chemical catalyst, maintaining the dynamic bassline of the original but adding a nagging 303 line to deliver an explosive 3am dancefloor device. One Step Closer to Heaven begins with a metronomic, rhythmic New Beat stomp and a nagging insidious synth refrain that recalls the more electronic side of New Order. Muscular synth riffs then drop in and out of the mix, taking the track into dark EBM territory and ramping up the pressure before the influences of Giorgio Moroder and Cerrone come to the fore, propelling the track into a rapture of hypnotic celestial electronic disco.
Jacob Korn – Shtum 005 [SHTUM005]
Jacob Korn makes his debut on Uncanny Valley’s sub label Shtum, to celebrate his old but not forgotten love for dark and bleepy Techno. The tracks’ origins date back to the 1990s when Jacob used to work with a MS-DOS based software sequencer called FastTracker. Imagine programming beats with Excel and look at the graphic interface on the A-side label of the record to get an idea of the workflow back then. Nevertheless, the tracks did not loose any of its intensity.
Peter Van Hoesen – Call & Response EP [T2X024]
The Call & Response EP features five brand new tracks forged in Van Hoesen’s Berlin studio during June and July 2014. It marks a further development of the Belgian producer’s sound, combining solid dancefloor material with highly personal leftfield techno.
