Jordan GCZ, aka Jordash from Juju & Jordash delivers for Future Times! ‘Swingonoguitaro’ hits a very unique place. Far from chopping up typical disco guitar licks, J runs a fierce house rhythm through varying six-string zones, from rainy day Slippertronics and Cocteau strums to the dusted, poly-rhythmic bends that warp the song’s ending. ‘Digitalis’ starts as cold, snake-charmer funk that gets washed away in outrageous keys and hovering, molten electronics. ‘Fusionfuk’ closes the EP with a barrage of library gusto. Jordan showcases his amazing synth work on this one, destroying and rebuilding melodies at will.

Violet Poison is the dark, enigmatic and esoteric side-project of Francesco Baudazzi, already known as Obtane, co-owner with Giorgio Gigli of the defunct techno label Zooloft. The new project is focused on analogue proto-techno with influences from 70’s Italian progressive bands like Goblin or OST composers like Fabio Frizzi and earlier Downwards records from 1994-1995.

Here’s something to excite those of an experimental techno bent: a collaborative set from veteran producer Function and drone/industrial sort Vatican Shadow. Given the qualities’ of both producers, it’s perhaps unsurprising that Games Have Rules is rather good. Like any good collaboration, it tempers the more outlandish aspects of each producer’s work, delivering a set bristling with icy textures, bittersweet ambience, dreamy atmospherics and, perhaps most pleasing of all, sprawling techno (see the brilliant “Bejewelled Body”). Highlights are naturally plentiful, from the crystalline mood of “A Year Has Passed” (reminiscent of Selected Ambient Works era Aphex Twin) to the murky textures and spooky electronics of “The Nemesis Flower”.

Returning to Delsin after 2013’s What I Feel EP, Italian producer Herva aka Herve Atse Corti is now serving up a double EP offering, Instant Broadcast. Instant Broadcast, the 12 tracks to be released on 2 x vinyl, proves that in spades, combing as it does intricate electronic stylings with an off kilter sampling style, organic instrumentals and plenty of rough hewn charm. The album kicks off with ‘And The Crunch Goes On’, a fractured, sample heavy track with sensuous piano notes floating above barrelling techno drums. It evolves through many different forms across its 6-minute duration and from there the kaleidoscopic journey really begins. ‘Slam The Laptop’ is deep and lo fi techno, ‘Pitch Business’ is glistening IDM and ’01 (Edit)’ is scuzzy dystopian ambiance of the sort LIES has become famous for. Elsewhere there is blissful and heavenly ambiance, sketchy sound collages that put dusty old soul vocals next to trilling melodies and pounding broken beat that is awash with spring like rays of sunshine. Sometimes dark, sometimes beautiful, but always unpredictable, Instant Broadcast is a refreshingly original, sketchy album that shuns the usual Chicago and Detroit reference points and instead conjures up a truly idiosyncratic style that puts Herva in a class of his own.

Though many of the artists that have featured on WeMe Records have released with other labels, it’s fair to say the Brussels operation still retains a unique identity that has set it apart over the past decade. That’s certainly the impression you get from this 13 track compilation, issued to celebrate WeMe Records surpassing the 10 year mark, and a release that neatly documents the label’s commitment to electro and more esoteric fare. Entitled WeMe10ans, the compilation is filled with exclusive material and finds electro mainstays Der Zyklus, DJ Stingray and Global Goon rubbing shoulders with composers such as Francois de Roubaix and Giles Lamb and the singular Leyland Kirby.

Earlier this year Anterior Research Media Comm label presented Clock 2, a USB stick of Clock DVA material that covered audio and video content. Fans of the iconic ’80s Steel City industrial act who prefer their Clock DVA in a more traditional format will no doubt be pleased to see that the label have pulled two of the reworks that featured on that USB for this lovingly presented 12″ release.

Hypnagogia marks Dopplereffekt’s second appearance on Leisure System, following the Tetrahymena EP. This time the electro outfit has contributed one track, Delta Wave, which takes up the record’s A-side. Appearing on the flip is Berlin artist Objekt, whose mutant brand of bassy techno has appeared on labels like Hessle Audio and Power Vacuum. The label says the two efforts are ”borne of mutual inspiration” and were ”derived from a shared journey into extrasensory perception and subconscious thought.”

Stian Gjevik (EOD,CN), passionate and curious about electronic music, found in a Trondheim thrift store a tape of the norwegian legendary project : the educational music “Sports/Tools”. He contacted one of the two composers called Dildrian Schrodinger. He has managed to negociate with him a deal for a vinyl license with WeMe records. We can find in this project ordered by the norwegian state all an experimentation work with electronic machines from the 1980’s. It is sometimes accompanied by a clumsy singing quite modern at that time.

Cabaret Voltaire member Richard H. Kirk with an experimental electronic release including the great dancefloor track ”Never Lose Your Shadow.” On the EP, there’s tracks originally recorded between 1978 and 1987, which have never before been released on vinyl. The title track, Never Lose Your Shadow blurs the lines between harsh industrial, dance floor, and no wave. The other three tracks are more experimental and reference ideas Kirk was exploring in Cabaret Voltaire at the time.

Berceuse Heroique label deliver the second 12″ from the Heroique Edits series, coming form Japan Blues, aka Ethbo Records founder Howard Williams takes an altogether more eccentric approach. Opener “Half Dead Pulse” is dreamy, melodic and, well, rather odd, with vocal chants and fluid melodies riding a skittering drum machine rhythm and long, drawn-out chords. “Baroque Mutiny” sounds like post-punk-meets-chiming synth-pop (with a dubwise beat), but is almost certainly an edit of an obscure new wave track. Finally, “Mysterious Satsuma” delivers an attractive blend of exotic, Eastern synth lines and curious, experimental Italo rhythms.

Gunnar Haslam – Ataxia No Logos [DSR-C1]

Gunnar Haslam steps up with a new four track EP on Delsin that showcases his wide-ranging style. The EP opens with ‘Corridor Metaphysics’, a high-pressure bit of deep techno with urgent drums and eerie, haunting glass tinkling sounds. It’s a warm and humid track that places you right at the heart of it and everything that happens does so subtly and suggestively rather than with brute force. ‘Ataxia No Logos’ is then a spangled and disorientating track with panning and ever more manic synths encircling the listener. Incessant ticking highs and distant drones add to the sense of oppression and on a dancefloor this will do some serious damage. Flipside ‘Dunsinane Hill’ is more tender and sensitive, with deep house chords and drums peppered with loose tin pot percussion. It’s moody but purposeful, sad but cerebral and eventually makes way for ‘Discrete Markov Dub’, a rippling bit of techno with crisp hits, a fat bassline that pulls you right in and oversized hi hats leaving long trails.
