Galaxian – We Are Power LP [SHIPLP09/DOWN6]

“We Are Power”, Galaxian’s first album in over a decade, cuts a new path. On this Foul-Up and Shipwrec joint release, Mark Kastner presents a rumination on the confrontation and power clash between humankind, nature, the spiritual and mechanistic industrial growth societies. What is authentic power? What is granted power? What is innate natural power? How is power accessed, wielded, utilised, felt? On this album the blistering beats and razor-edged rhythms that characterise the Glaswegian’s productions have been softened, the menace melted, the angst soothed (well almost.) Across eleven tracks, distinct audio vistas are surveyed. This album is unmistakable Galaxian, it marks a high-point and brings with it a culmination of intense expression.

VA – The Amazing Run In The Victory Boogie Woogie Tunnel [VXX-001]

Boogie Woogie NOW! is an ode to the Victory Boogie Woogietunnel and the new connection it creates between The Hague and Rotterdam. Boogie Woogie NOW! was conceived by David Schoch and the creative team behind culture podium PIP Den Haag. Together with artists from The Hague and Rotterdam they developed a light installation, with which they show their interpretation of the boogie woogie. The installation is by David Schoch, Jorick Mulder, Polo Vreedenburgh and Jeroen Meijer of PIP The Hague. Light and installation artist Philip Vermeulen adds 2 of his works. The music has been specially composed by DJs and producers Alden Tyrell and I-F, 2 leaders from the electronic music scene of The Hague and Rotterdam. The whole is introduced with a poetic ode to the Victory Boogie Woogietunnel, by Steven van Lummel, word artist from The Hague, and Dean Bowen, until recently Rotterdam’s city poet.

Strada – It’s The Monkey! [BST-X084 ]

“”It’s the Monkey!” is one of the most striking and unique reissues of Best Record to date, rises like a flame from the history of the Italo-Disco. Very well arranged and enriched by a creative use of many different sounds. There is nothing else quite like it! Strada was born in a studio where the extraordinary arrangers Ennio Tricomi, Enzo Vallicelli and Romano Trevisani work with Enza Kucic’s superb vocal skills, their favorite backing singer of Crusin’ Records. “It’s the Monkey”, considered to be one of the Top Five Italo-Disco tracks of all time, is a electro monster with all kinds of weird sounds and effects, wicked synth stabs, very original use of drum kits and arpeggios. “Street Dance” on the flip is an underrated electronic track with a deep dance potential, rhythmically slightly slower, with very catchy synth strings.
