Exciting and fresh fluid structured organic techno with that trademark natural feel of Voices From The Lake on their own new Spazio Disponibile label. First release is a superb release by Donato Dozzy and Neel showcasing their mutual love of advanced textured sounds and carefully crafted rhythms that create a deeply hypnotic effect.
Spring assist, rapid one-handed deployment, half-serrated stainless steel glass breaker for emergencies. Easy and safe carry. This EP contains material by Area & Donato Dozzy.
As with his previous releases Etapp Kyle captures his playful, multi-layered Techno endeavours with single-word track titles: Continuum EP starts off with Opto, an atmospheric track with fazing bleeps, ensouled synths and subdued claps – a prime example of his great feel for musical detail. Ahora builds upon this vibe with more asynchronous drum patterns, well placed drips of melody, distant pulses, mesmerizing pads and hints of rattles amongst other percussion. The EPs title track Continuum is distinctive through its use of industrial hammer jabs and reduced, puzzling synth pads that are counteracted by a more dominant, steady and stubborn kick drum. Limb contrasts unconventional pulsating, hypnotic synth tones with sharp claps and snare sounds, and rounds off this 12“ of all new, puristic and futurist Techno, catering as much to the darker corners as to the brightest spots of the dance floor.
“It’s one year since we started this adventure and we want to celebrate pressing our first vinyl. For this special event we have onboard one of our best friends and someone we respect massively, no other than Oscar Mulero. He his providing two futuristic reworks of UnCUT’s track Beneath, floor orientated but mental at the same time, with flanged synth sequences and scientific drum programming making two techno tools that will crush sound systems worldwide.”
The Revenge continues to release forward thinking music on his very own Roar Groove label with the announcement of Intimate Connection – a double EP featuring all new tracks plus special ‘live dub’ recordings from title winning ‘Love That Will Not Die’. Graeme Clark has rebuilt the foundations in the form of Roar Groove releasing his own original material with a range of vocals, tempos and dubs along with esteemed likeminded producers.
Vivod move into their next series of releases with Portuguese maestro Photonz at the helm. A 4 tracker of dark house that effortlessly slip into the label catalogue entitled Lotus Wheel On My Orion. Beautiful packaging again this time with full printed sleeve.
Transmitting from the Orgonite heart of his Levenshulme bunker, zest fuelled mastermind Ste Spandex breaks through the static and reaches the ears of the mighty Tusk Wax, scoring himself a well deserved label debut in the process. Modern melodic spacey disco house tracks.
Toeing the line between divinity and profanity, blurring beauty and debasement, is Drvg Cvltvre. Following Offender Status and Gauwvuur is an eight track album: Into the Endless Night. From the guttural emotion of “Where Embers Die” to the bleak ferocity of “Brakes are Death”, a complex and hardened array is on display. Buried angst is never far away. “There Were Rumours” flexes with embittered bars before the unrefined purity of “Jericho Flats.” Respite from this whirring carnival is a rarity, relief from the seesawing serration of “Shock Corridor” or rollicking jeer of “Charge of the Haploids.” But there is reprieve, radiance breaks through. “Into the Endless Night” pulses with brightening hope, one which is reflected in the gritty finale of “Winnerden Flats.” Heartening warmth piercing the hail. Balancing on the precipice, an album of scared and soulful sounds from this darkeyed light in modern electronic music.
Alessandro Parisi is casting off for his debut on Charlois. The Italian is setting out his stall with a five tracker. Honeyed bars are cut by sharp percussion as the brooding “Meduna Waves” opens. Space soaked synthlines coil around a pulsing drum for the slow burning “Cosmica 1999.” The flip sees a wave edge enter. Cascading chords and a bolstered beats form the pain streaked beauty of “Fear and Money Never Had.” “Exhibition of Love” is brimming with meaty snares biting into thick strings combined in a power filled piece. Parisi illustrates his enviable talent throughout, a talent that comes to the fore with the arpeggiated intensity of “Virtualand.”
First release on new Malmö based vinyl label Kess Kill, run by Rivet. Kess Kill was started with the will to continue the legacy 1979-1983by bands like Liasons Dangereuses, Tommi Stumpff, Xao Seffcheque, Geile Tiere and others, music that oozed techno, long before techno was a concept. Some of the music on Kess Kill will be brand new, some will be 30 years old, but it will all be unified by the naive frustration and punky rawness that has long been absent.
Mikron’s love of melody and pattern are very much at the forefront with every track full of great hooks and rhythms. The album takes you on a journey through various sub genres all delivered with careful execution and enviable studio mastery.
Delsin Records welcomes back Dennis van Gemert aka Area Forty_One for a second EP on the label. It is a second part to the Nocturnal Passions series started back in 2013, and come five years after his first ever release, which was on Ann Aimee in 2011, once again fusing ambient with techno, downtempo and electro. Nocturnal Passions Part 2 is seven minutes of slithering electro funk. Full of twinkling keys and spaced out chords, it has rugged bass and bumpy drums all making you want to move. Voyage is then a raw, beat driven yet still brilliantly serene affair with angelic chords, Consolation is a comforting, mid tempo tumble through the galaxy with soft focus, rippling melodies and gentle churning kicks and Orbiting is a suspensory, fully ambient track that sounds like a slow journey up to heaven. This is teary eyed, emotive stuff that comes from another world entirely.
Shad T. Scott under his Gosub alias releases this Sunday At Battle Ship Key titled EP for Barba Records, staying true to that initial principle. Its far away from just being good though, its beautiful and warm electronic music at its best, oozing chill and feel good moods. Original two tracks are accompanied with a remix by second time appearing on Barba – JTC aka Tadd Mullinix who this time nicely surprised us with his ol’ school NY style house beauty. Overall one fine classic record this, period.
Schaltkreis Wassermann returning with a 2LP album including all their 1980’s minimal synth and soundtrack productions from around the recording sessions of their debut album Psychotron. The bands captured the impressions from the LSD dimension, converted them into synthetic sounds and bringing them to the listeners mind with their music releases. An unique form of art, expecially exciting if you are minding they are from the inner circle of group around Albert Hofmann (the explorer and designer of the substance LSD which changed the world in 1960s). Stella and PJ lived in Albert Hofmans house, on weekends they done their LSD research sessions in their studio, experimenting with their ARP2600 synthesizer. Some tracks made it on their debut album Psychotron, the rest is available now on their 2nd album „SKW“.
The first release from Sign Bit Zero features two powerful edits from Mick Wills. Giving new life to the track, ‘Center’ by Ale Mania, a San Diego based band, the cuts here contain wholly new structures with a greater focus on the oppressive yet powerful vocal parts and the uplifting string section. By extending the (acoustic) drum track and giving it the groove and strength we have come to associate with his edits, Mick has created a unique take on the new wave / dark wave genres – ideal for any DJ who wants to showcase this sound in a club-focussed context. ‘Center’ originally appeared on the EP, ‘A, who sings that beat?’ on Volar Records and was written by Andrew Montoya.
