Erell Ranson – Dreams Of Nila EP [BAR019]

French producer Erell Ranson’s affinity for the deeper shades of Detroit sound and his ability to absorb those influences and create beautiful music with his own signature are well known. Erell became quite skilled in crafting sophisticated and emotional tracks which still seem to feel perfectly at home in a crowded 3 AM club situation. This Barba EP, titled “Dreams Of Nila”, is a 4-tracker with an additional remix treatment by a Rotterdam-based project Duplex.

Rocco Siffredi – Per Aspera Ad Astra [BAR018]

Ukraine’s arguably most interesting contemporary electronic music producer Mikhaylo Vityk, known as Vakula, returns to the Burek family. He came up with a new name, Rocco Siffredi, and a spaced out 3-tracker EP titled “Per Asper Ad Astra” for sublabel Barba Records.

Heinrich Dressel – The Styx Swamp [BAR014]

Roman producer (and a force behind MinimalRome label) Valerio Lombardozzi known as Heinrich Dressel returns to Barba with a second release for our label, titled “The Styx Swamp”. Heinrich has a unique way of combining classic techno and electro sounds with elements from the beloved Drexcyan universe and John Carpenter leitmotifs, and making them come together in a manner that both moves your body and pushes your mind beyond the point of awareness. “Gray Slope”, “Sailing The Nether Waterways” and “The Styx Swamp” are all quite moody and deep, rich with sound and thick with vibe. However, the tracks feel equally at home in 4 am techno situation and a heady afterhours affair. He truly is a master of crafting hybrids whose influences get so flawlessly embedded that it’s hard to point them out. If that’s not enough, “The Styx Swamp” got a treatment by Nigel Rogers aka Perseus Traxx, a multi-faceted producer and a mighty live act performer. Nigel stayed respectful to the original but made the original’s bouncy groove into something more direct and reduced, while retaining the same feel conditioned by lead synth’s hypnotic quality.

Nubian Mindz – Pulsing Heart EP [BAR010]

London-born producer Colin Lindo aka Nubian Mindz is not your average predictable artist.  Generally speaking, the music is deep and rich, yet very direct and club ready, but with plenty of those unpredictable moments which made us go crazy for these tracks in the first place.

Lerosa – Your Soul [BAR009]

Italy-born, Dublin-based producer Leopoldo Rosa aka Lerosa returns with his second EP in 2016 and continues a string of excellent releases for Croatian label Barba. “Your Soul” comes as the 9th release of Barba, and is very much in the area of previous ones – heady, mental and diverse. Lerosa effortlessly manoeuvres between genres on this 4-tracker, while at the same time keeping the overall sound and vibe consistent. 303-reminiscent synth serves as an underlying leitmotif which appears in every track, but in a different manner. Blood is an obvious A1, direct and trippy techno with a misty mood. With Duelist Lerosa wears his electro suit, while maintaining the atmosphere sketched out by the first track. Ghost sits right in between the first two, with its 1/2 tempo serving justice to the track’s feeling of neither resting nor moving. B2, Your Soul, is a house track with an elegant Lerosa twist on the classic Chicago vibe.

Gosub – Sunday At Battle Ship Key [BAR007]

Shad T. Scott under his Gosub alias releases this Sunday At Battle Ship Key titled EP for Barba Records, staying true to that initial principle. Its far away from just being good though, its beautiful and warm electronic music at its best, oozing chill and feel good moods. Original two tracks are accompanied with a remix by second time appearing on Barba – JTC aka Tadd Mullinix who this time nicely surprised us with his ol’ school NY style house beauty. Overall one fine classic record this, period.

FBK – Screaming Her Name [BAR006]

FBK aka Kevin Kennedy is a hardworking man, be it battling computers and machines when producing music or when going out there and getting job done. In either case, one things is certain – theres no messin’ around. He’s also one half of ‘The Fallen’ a duo performing live, showcasing their love for banging darker industrial/wave inspired techno. His pal James Johnson aka Plural, artist with release on legendary Metroplex label last year, provided great remix on this latest EP by Kevin under his FBK moniker for Barba Records. All three original tracks are long building, big room, grooving stompers with a lot of emotions that would fit in various sets pretty much at any time. To keep things entirely ‘D’ footed, the legend, the man of weird, beautiful, unique and reduced techno world – Terrence Dixon rounds things up with his hypnotic re-interpretation of title track.

DJ Stingray 313 – Communications System [BAR005]

Sherard Ingram aka DJ Stingray 313 for this fifth Barba release hits us with elegant but typically fast pacing modern electro 3 tracker. Each one is a beauty in itself, deep, resonating space funk, elegant yet dark at times but melodic in the same time as one would expect from the man. Simply put – truly outstanding craftsmanship across all tracks. Title track also gets a remix treatment by Aubrey, UK seasoned techno dj, producer and label owner who’s recent remix seen a light on legendary Metroplex label earlier this year. Enough said. Here Aubrey bravely bites the bullet and maintains the original high tempo but seriously twists the original resulting in stomping into stratosphere monster track creating his own communication system.

Heinrich Dressel – Lurking Underwater [BAR004]

Burek’s sister label Barba on its fourth release introduces Heinrich Dressel, project related working name of Valerio, a force behind MinimalRome label from Italy. His productions have been gaining serious attention amongst deeper electro connoisseurs who appreciate almost cinematic feel but still with an eye on the floor which resulted in quite a few moody smashers released on various EPs in the past. Three tracks here evoking familiar feelings heard before but still somehow they all sound fresh and drag you in wanting for more. As if this wouldn’t do it, there is first but, not last appearance for Barba label by mighty JTC who needs no further introduction delivering a remix. This time he cleverly uses sparse but recognizable parts of title track which he then transforms into relentless floor shaker where Detroit meets Chicago, if any such comparison needs to be made.

Marco Bernardi – Laffer Ep Part 2 [BAR002.2]

Part 2 of the Laffer EP Marco Bernardi on Barba is going head down, straight ahead and striving for energy. Attack of the Dessert Stormers is an overload of dark electro power, six minutes of squirming bassline-driven movement with surges of intensity from analogue bleeps and subtle drum pattern shifts. There’s no let up on the flip side where Two Sliders brings equal force but in a more techno style. Right from the start you’ll be grabbed by the bassline, but this one rewards extended listening as the track develops progressively with new melodies and metallic touches taking you deeper and deeper. There’s a moment of sweetness to end our journey with “There’s always tomorrow”, a chiming melodic ramble through tinfoil meadows that will fit beautifully into a warmup set.

Marco Bernardi – Laffer Ep part 1 [BAR002.1]

Archetypal Detroit electro techno taken to the next level by Mr. Bernardi on Burek sub label Barba. Bernardi delivers a double album worth of ideas, spread among 2 releases. The first half of the release is very much in the robots-having-an-argument rather than the peaceful-cosmic-journey vein. The tracks feature abrupt changes, stabbing asymmetrical rhythms, multiple layers of sound and a darker moodier feel.

Esa – Serenity in a Forbidden Place EP [BUREK006]

Drummer, producer and DJ, Esa Williams aka Mervin Granger has been a resident at Glasgow’s Sub Club for over half a decade, as well as releasing as Mervin Granger and Esa. Esa’s 12” on Burek spans the emotions upon returning to his native South Africa and the trials of becoming acquainted with his new home of Glasgow. Alongside Esa’s original cuts we also have a superb remix from Edinburgh’s Fudge Fingas. The remix encapsulates both of the original tracks and adds FF’s own distinctive slant to them to finish an EP that we are most proud to present.

Toby Tobias makes his debut on Burek. Running away is a classic house peak time tune with a 90’s bass line, wonderful melodic synth stabs and a vocal sample which at its peak simply drives people crazy on the dance floor. Tres Mal wins the listeners almost instantly and has all the requirements to become a hit. Cleverly made arrangement, fat bass line and high quality production are filled with an exquisite vocal of Toby’s close friend Be Atwell.
