Howard Thomas – Skin Breaker LP [SS100]

Theo Parrish’s venerated Sound Signature label hits the notable milestone of 100 releases with this new double album, Skin Breaker, from Howard Thomas. ”The inspiration for ‘Skin Breaker’ comes from my early years of watching sci-fi films. Howard has always been fascinated by them . As a huge fan of 80s beat tracks and 80s sci-fi, Howard aimed to blend those influences into this project. This project is a tribute to the sounds and styles that have inspired him.”

SILF – DDE07 [DDE07]

Dalmata Daniel, with the seventh installment of the lathe cut series, invites us on a time travel journey. 11 years ago, on a hot and acidic July evening, the SILF guys secluded themselves in the Ballacid studio in the concrete jungle of Újpest to dive into the night with their analog setup. During the jam session, led by the TB303 bass synthesizer, these two timeless classic acid variations were born from a single theme. ‘Tot-O’ is the darker, more rugged stomper, while ‘Tot-A’ is the lighter, more upbeat acid-house track, featuring the playful use of the TR707 and TR727 drum machines by the duo.

Coral Morphologic – Coral Morphologic 2 [TF011]

Coral Morphologic’s first album took us on a journey through space. Now with their sophomore LP we arrive at our destination, an aquatic world teaming with life. Across the vast expanse of the cosmos we approach a shimmering satellite globe. Entering its orbit in a hypnotic swirl our eyes peer closer and closer to the glowing sea below. We land near an intertidal zone wondering what enchants this world and its waters. Coral Morphologic 2 is inspired by the corals’ cosmic ability to synchronize their lives to Earth’s daily rotation upon its axis, the Moon’s monthly trip around Earth, and Earth’s yearly orbit of the Sun.

ManooZ – Juno Dreams EP [CHIWAX041]

ManooZ on Chiwax with Juno Dreams EP. This release is for those smoother out chill-out house sessions on the dancefloor. The title track is a future classic, dreamy, like early 90s Italian ambient house. ‘Boxin’ With GOD’ is melodic and nice while ‘Galaxies’ is more soulful but still deep. A bit more upbeat and techy you could say. ‘Glow’ is possibly the most underrated here, lovely track! Overall, the Juno Dreams EP is a solid EP that is sure to please fans of deep house, ambient house and Balearic styled house music. Smooth and cool is the order of the day.

The Vision – Spectral Nomad [M025R]

As The Vision, Robert Hood provided Detroit techno a pinnacle of the artform. It may be justifiably best known for the lip-bitingly strong minimalist transport of Detroit: One Circle with its sparing central refrain “Detroit” and spine-playing riffage, or for the killer Explain The Style variant, but for us the EP’s shortest and freakiest number Modern And Ancient is also one of its strongest, a mad, half-stepping slice of Afro-futurist electro encryption that still blows our mind today.
