Morphology – Landform [13DIAM]

Diametric is pleased to announce the return of Morphology with a release of four new deep electro/techno tracks. Being praised as one of the finest electro acts in recent years, this new twelve-inch showcases why this praise is so well-deserved. The Finnish duo, Michael Diekmann and Matti Turunen deliver their mix of superb machine funk, electro beats and melancholic deep synth work to perfection here. ‘Herschel Crater’ will cause some serious frenzy on the dancefloor with its straightforward beats and dark sequence that respectfully nods toward the sound of Drexciya.

Norm Talley – The Westside Project [VP003]

Number three on the french label Vibes & Pepper comes from Norm Talley and is called the The Westside Project. Lead track “Do What You Like” deftly weaves in some expert Voodoo Ray sampleage amidst a permanently punchy groove whilst “Greenfield Groove” has Talley in looser rhythmic mood, with busy percussion driving through a thick swamp of vocal pressure and ever twisting piano riffs.  B Side hugger “Grove Street Shuffle” was originally featured on the producer’s 1997 release for City Boy.

Ovatow – In Loving Memory of Juvenile Jay [HCS1000]

Ovatow drops 3 extremely deep journeys into the fog of endless re-verb and delay applications. ‘Flame’ and ‘A Thought’ are 2 electro-techno tracks that are both build on randomly step-sequenced square bass lines, raiser sharp snares and dubbed out melodies drowned in layers of breathing dusty tape delays. ‘Visitation Dub III’ is a different version of an Ovatow track, earlier released as part of the ‘Viewpoints Chapter One’ compilation, but this time stripped down to the core bass line, reminiscing BC’s ‘Presence’. The release is dedicated to the loss of South Rotterdam based DJ Juvenile Jay who played an important roll in the early DJ career of Frustrated Funk’s head honcho Klen, the man behind the Ovatow moniker.

RedRay – RedRay [JACKPLAYMOBIL002]

Redray - Redray

Meet Antwerp’s ultimate Soda King aka Redray. After many years of isolation Redray has mastered his craft and learned to create believable demonic black eyes without Photoshop. Do not make eye contact for he orchestrates his moves with depraved sonic tendencies. He sees right through your soul. Xrays remove electrons from atoms and ions but only very hard x-rays can penetrate molecular clouds. The whole shock’n’awe type of thing, born bad, dripping goo and straight up evil. Think about a room filled with thick fog, vicious strobe lights and deep bass hits that would probably blow a submarine out of the water. Classify under: ”confrontational presence” and ”downright alien”. Limited black vinyl edition of 300 copies. Packaged in beautiful handsilkscreened cardboard covers with artwork by Redray himself.

Arcanoid – Migration To Nowhere [SEMZ]

Semantica presents a smart selection of Electro, Techno and House with an IDM polish by Arcanoid. Cinematic theme ‘Time To Die’ sets the scene with a Vangelis-like flourish of synth brass, while the technoid gloom of ‘Espora’ and the grubbing Electro of ‘Force Of Gravity’ at once remind of vintage SCSI-AV and more recent Vatican Shadow moves. Flipside his grooves follow sleeker contours with the plush Electro-meets-Deep House chords of ‘Interzone’ and the rolling finesse of ‘Zero G’.

Pal + – The Forest [EYE004]

The Forest is the debut release from Pal +. The two tracks on The Forest demonstrate Pal+ to already be in possession of a fully formed sound notable for its disregard for standing still. The Stottifield vacuum of grainy textures that permeate the opening moments of “The Forest” are soon engulfed by the orchestrated light of the track in full flight, while “Inside” is a constantly shifting mass of jacking drums and deranged key stabs. The mysterious German duo Snuff Crew are commissioned to remix the title track, and they turn in a suitably grubby rework with killer staccato drums, the end result being a vastly different vibe to the original cut.
