Rick Wilhite – Limited Japan Promo #1 [STILLM032LTDPROMO]

This is the 1st of two limited Japan promos which landed on these shores featuring exclusive tracks not included on his recent ‘Analog Aquarium’ LP. A-side is the raw and ready groove controller ‘Cosmic Soup’, while flipside you’ll find the incredible exclusive ‘Cosmic Jungle’, nearly nine minutes of deep trekking vibes powered by Maurizio-like bassline and wiped with moody strings, all in that shady, inimitable Detroit style.
Prostitune – Justfixit [JAB004]

Just another pair of deep and dope House grooves from Prostitune for Just Another Beat. He’s evidently down for a boogie this time, pushing the tempo up slightly for the swing-jacking, swirling and seductive Chicago-meets-Detroit drive of ‘Justfixit’, while ‘Nj Turnpike’ offers some beatdown contrast for the deeper corners of the night.

MD – It Ain’t What It Used To Be [X]

Mysterious released, no information about the label or the producer. Melodic retro acid house/techno, classic early 90s sounding Detroit stuff. “It Ain’t What It Ain’t” powers along on a snapping 808 drum track with a bubbling 303 bassline, big washy strings and jazzy synth solo. Flipside cut “Megapolitan Soul” is a sublime piece of beatdown house that oozes soul. a gospel / soul vocal, hand claps and Detroit house pads and efx make this an absolute blinder for me.
