Stephanie Lange and Claudia Hossfeld, the original singers of legendary Eighties band Saâda Bonaire, plus founding member Ralph von Richthoven are teaming up four decades later for two very special takes on ‘You Could Be More As You Are’. Dark moody vocals meet super disco beats: this is what it sounds like when pioneering DJ and producer Jens Mahlstedt invites Saâda Bonaire over to his studio.

These are “Demo” tracks from the album “Anadolu Funk”. Reflecting the rich musical heritage of Anatolia, this track combines traditional melodies with contemporary funk rhythms, and the use of traditional instruments such as the bağlama, lively bass lines, and farfisa organ riffs, creating a unique fusion with a modern sound. This tracks again captures that nostalgic atmosphere by using instruments and recording techniques reminiscent of that period. Instruments such as Fender Jazz Bass, Ludwig Super Classic Drums are included.

Humphrey Aniakor started Duomo Sounds after a trip to Milan. The idea was to produce a new sound for the emerging generation. A sleek funky but refined, Nigerian disco sound. This compilation captures all of that intention with a broad array of artists. The music is sometimes sung in local Nigerian languages and sometimes in English but always with an African Accent. Modern grooves for an African market. After several months spent hanging out at studios in Los Angeles and New York, observing the musicians, producers and engineers at work. He went to nightclubs to study what kind of sonic textures made the crowd move. And when he felt he had gotten the hang of it, he returned to Nigeria to set up his record label. A label that would showcase the au courant, cosmopolitan face of the Nigeria’s emerging young generation. That would encompass the boundlessness of imagination, focus, persistence and craftsmanship. That would deliver music that touched the soul.

Like the morning sun penetrating a Winter sky, a shimmering frost flecks the brightness of “Message to Nowhere”. The four tracker showcases the sound of Ruben Benabou’s Hyperstellar nom de plume, a sound that draws inspiration from sci-fi soundtracks and the warmer currents of electro. Refracted bleeps introduce the title piece, shorn beats cutting through glowing synthlines as the EP takes flight. Tight terse drum patterns are the launchpad from which melodies sail and swoop in “Words in a Void”, bittersweet strings and warbling pads bending and shifting above juddering basslines. Fellow Frenchman, and all-round electro virtuoso, The Hacker remixes “Message to Nowhere”. Pulling the track toward the centre of the floor, scissoring snares slice through echoing notes and silken shrouds in this machine funk remake. Temperatures rise for the close. Bold key changes and snapping rhythms gather in “A Thousand Nights”, a lively late evening close to a quartet of sheer quality.

llusive master reworker E.E. returns to Slow Motion’s ‘A UFO’ Free Edit series with his seductive blend of Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Bobby O. The rework results in a full-power marriage of ‘Relax’ and ‘Pump It Up’ reminiscent of Paradise Garage and this unmistakably shimmering era. E.E. raises the tempo and cuts the majority of the vocals, keeping the thumping bass line and classic synth riffs as a focal point throughout. Staying true to the sound of 1985 and not messing with the delicate tones, he achieves a perfect balance, re-invigorating these hits and readying them for another round of dancefloor explosion.

Following her iconic and genre-defying EP ‘Spacewoman’, Charlie has joined forces with Italo heavyweight David Vunk and prolific label head Franz Scala for two remixes of her singles, “Let Go” and “Spacewoman.”

Two originals from the enigmatic producer pdqb: An übergroovy and supernatural disco track that could easily be the brainchild of Claudio Simonetti and John Carpenter, followed by a dark and dystopian technoid dancescape. On the flipside Danny Wolfers chips in 2 outlandish electro-eargasm Legowelt remixes.

Forest Jams continues the journey into the great beyond with Mori Ra’s Mantra–an EP composed of four edits created for any inquisitive earthling and forest wanderer.

The italian trio Mamosato composed of Paolo Macri, Cristian Sarde and Emanuele Montalto, come back to squeeze a new lemon.

Red Laser takes us for one last spin on the waltzers. Tried and tested at their road block parties in Manchester, these edits shine a light on four primo-grade Italo face melters. Fervently excavated by Bosco over countless visits to Bel Paese and streamlined for the hydrofoil, with some extra added calories for the club.

A rare German disco experiment from 1982 by Herbert Hildebrandt-Winhauer of Rattles fame and Peter Hesslein, delivering a sleazy electro-boogie groove with funky vocal layers on the A-side and a cosmic disco instrumental with thick drums and synth magic on the flip side. Originally released as a 7-inch, this remastered 12-inch edition includes Trent’s DJ-friendly extended edit of Erotica and a high-energy reimagining of Rado-Keno.
