A sensible alternative to emotion is the second full length album by the spanish techno duo Exium. More than ten years in the bussiness confirm them as one the fundamental combos of european techno. We have the pleasure of presenting you this new step in sound design, ten tracks that show a new twist in their style, relaxing the frequencies and the tempos and departing from linear concepts, offering a well balanced tracklist with ambient or near IDM experiments, dreamy or even melodic techno and their traditional obscure feeling.

Mobach – Cold Rain [SD030]

Mobach drops his lush melodic debut album ”Cold Rain” on Syncom Data Records. Four years after his ”Metrobots” twelve inch Mobach delves deeper into his unique hybrid form of techno, house, electro, dub and downbeat experimental electronics. Ten tracks full of infectious melodies, clever beats and weird soundscaping that creates this typical Mobach audiosyncratic world, probably best reflected in the beautiful artwork, also from the hand of the artist.

Unbroken Dub – Deepfrozen Soil EP [RAWAX013]

Siberian producer Unbroken Dub returns to his regular home of Rawax for the Deepfrozen Soil EP. “Mansi Song” places a simple phased bassline and undulating textures in an echo chamber environment, keeping its kicks low in the mix, while “Deepfrozen Soil” takes an even more sedate approach, as a simple kick drifts through a glacier of weeping pads. On the flip, “Low Freq Vibes” offers a similarly placid take on house, but its “Dub Layer” that impresses most, containing some particularly Basic Channel-inspired textures, as malleable chords bounce around inside an increasingly narrow confine.

The last track“Tunnel of Light”, an awesome soundtrack a bit more experimental to close this great release.

Mystica Tribe – Stars Are Mine [SD029]

Cover art - Mystica Tribe: Stars Are Mine

Here comes the second of two new bass-infected dub EPs from Japan’s Mystica Tribe on the Syncom Data label. Title track ‘Stars Are Mine’ has a prickly dub atmospheres, with lurching bass and odd effects combing to great effect. ‘His Temple’ is indeed both tribal and mystical, like some dub excursion to a clearing deep in side the jungle. Dark and moody, it’s evocative stuff. ‘Prayer’ then evolves around a catchy melody that won’t leave your head for days, ‘Zen Stone’ rounds out the EP nicely on a gloomy sci trip. It’s an interesting and unfamiliar world in which Mystic Tribe lives, and he soundtracks it beautifully.

Mystica Tribe – Flowers [SD027]

First of two new bassheavy techno-ish dub EP’s by Mystica Tribe. Four tracks of excellent electronic dub with heavy techno and acid influences. Although only his second release after his debut in 2011 with ”Meditation Stick” the Japanese Mystica Tribe already delivers a powerful trademark sound: loose, shuffling beats, layered with heavy basses, tribal percussion and trippy elements, like the dark acid tale on titletrack ”Flowers” and the classic melodica stabs on ”Fractale” and ”Moon & Stone”. Tokyo Dub at it’s best.

Marco Shuttle – There’s No Point… That’s The Point [EE002]

Cover art - Marco Shuttle: There's No Point... That's The Point

Second installment on Marco Shuttle’s EERIE is again a 2 tracker by himself. Sticking to the deep cinematic hypnotic signature sound that has trademarked all his work so far, the London based Italian producer delivers 2 long journeys of deep, dubby, Detroit flavoured EDM. Both tracks have a subtle progression, building up gently from an intro initial part to a more ”dramatic” core through very subtly arranged and modulated layers of sounds and subliminal melodic elements.

Seph – AM 02 [AMR002]

AM 02

The Aula Magna team proudly presents the label’s second release, a solo EP by Seph. A mind dazzling odyssey through the artist’s breaks and techno obsessions, exploring new dance realms of his sonic world. On the A side, Temporaria kicks off the record with dancefloor intensity and Reflejo grooves on a funky edge, with layers of modulated dub synths and bells. The energy doesn’t stop on side B, shifting into a more introspective feel: Navi drives forward with its warm glitchy breaks and sets the stage for the mysterious Zoom (Bi), an epic dream that deconstructs it’s melodies over a sci-fi rhythm and ghostly distorted whispers. The journey resolves with the shimmering evolving synths of the digital exclusive track Glow. We hope you enjoy the ride.
