DMX Krew – Decaying World EP [TONES002]

London rave collective come record label Wavey Tones do it right with their second release, securing four tracks from Rephlex regular DMX Krew. Operating under all manner of aliases, the UK artists is renowned for delivering consistently varied sounds and the Decaying World 12″ confirms that wide ranging reputation. Lead track “Mustard Parasol” is a half-stepping tune which slip neatly between the modern UK Bass movement and the synth explorations of Legowelt, whilst the title track starts off with a powerful electro-tinged bassline but quickly transforms into a bumpy drum machine workout filled with superlative effects and yet more mutated sonics. Over on the B-side, “Flat Rate” enters the acid kingdom and pushes forward with sharp snares and dreamy voices, whilst “Three Days Of Entropy” slams back to the 80’s for an inspired synth trip with neat bursts of punchy percussion and far-out, tweeting melodies.

Ovatow – In Loving Memory of Juvenile Jay [HCS1000]

Ovatow drops 3 extremely deep journeys into the fog of endless re-verb and delay applications. ‘Flame’ and ‘A Thought’ are 2 electro-techno tracks that are both build on randomly step-sequenced square bass lines, raiser sharp snares and dubbed out melodies drowned in layers of breathing dusty tape delays. ‘Visitation Dub III’ is a different version of an Ovatow track, earlier released as part of the ‘Viewpoints Chapter One’ compilation, but this time stripped down to the core bass line, reminiscing BC’s ‘Presence’. The release is dedicated to the loss of South Rotterdam based DJ Juvenile Jay who played an important roll in the early DJ career of Frustrated Funk’s head honcho Klen, the man behind the Ovatow moniker.

Der Zyklus – Krypton 84 [WEME313.7]

Abstract modern electronica by Heinrich Mueller. First new material for the Der Zyklus project since 2008. Killer electro experiments from the laboratory of Gerald Donald aka Heinrich Mueller aka Dopplereffekt aka Der Zyklus. Motorik bass arpeggios propel ‘Krypton 84’ through a 3D stereo field buffeted by toxic gas explosions and prodding bleeps, over to the half-tempo lab-waltz of ‘Thorium 232’ and the concluding ‘Untitled’ anomaly.

Marco Bernardi – Stratagalastico [AFS011]

Futuristic, razor-sharp techno from the Bristol based producer, dropping one of his deadliest EPs to date. ‘Stratagalastico’ is an absolute bomb of machine-made dynamite, dark and deadly for those who like to lurk in the shadows. Creepy shenanigans are most certainly the order of the day, but with that said, Marco ends the EP with a deep, melodic piece titled ‘Bugs in the Virus’, a transcendent composition that enriches the Stratagalastico experience and completes the package.

RedRay – RedRay [JACKPLAYMOBIL002]

Redray - Redray

Meet Antwerp’s ultimate Soda King aka Redray. After many years of isolation Redray has mastered his craft and learned to create believable demonic black eyes without Photoshop. Do not make eye contact for he orchestrates his moves with depraved sonic tendencies. He sees right through your soul. Xrays remove electrons from atoms and ions but only very hard x-rays can penetrate molecular clouds. The whole shock’n’awe type of thing, born bad, dripping goo and straight up evil. Arcanoid – Migration To Nowhere [SEMZ]

Semantica presents a smart selection of Electro, Techno and House with an IDM polish by Arcanoid. Cinematic theme ‘Time To Die’ sets the scene with a Vangelis-like flourish of synth brass, while the technoid gloom of ‘Espora’ and the grubbing Electro of ‘Force Of Gravity’ at once remind of vintage SCSI-AV and more recent Vatican Shadow moves. Flipside his grooves follow sleeker contours with the plush Electro-meets-Deep House chords of ‘Interzone’ and the rolling finesse of ‘Zero G’.
