The Exaltics – Das Heise Experiment 2 [SOM045]

“Das Heise Experiment 2″ marks the 6th album of The Exaltics. Lovely presented on double 10” vinyl with full cover artwork from non other than the mighty Godspill, who also designed the pre release of this album with an amazing looking shape picture disc. To hold things special the guys from Solar One Music put a full comic with the story of “Das Heise Experiment” in each record. The music ranges from dark experimental techno, electro, ambient and soundtrackish nightmares which goes perfect with the story of the comic. Also Gerald Donald collaborates with The Exaltics for one track , which is one of the highlights of the album. This music is nothing for the club its much more, a complete story to feel. Turn your headphones on and dive into the world of aliens, scientists and distant gallaxies.

2017 Top 3 – Readers List

#VăVedemDinSibiu

It has been 4 years since I made the last ‘review of the year …’ or ‘best of … ‘ list and it was not planned for 2017, but looking back at last year somehow the music scene shifted in a good way. From the music point of view, I think we are living better times now, we can see a revival of the old school electro and acid house, afrobeat is still hot, EBM is going strong.

Lab Rat XL – Mice or Cyborg [CAL011/C#31LP]

For those not schooled in Drexciyan history, Lab Rat XL was a short-lived alternative alias of the legendary Motor City electro duo. Mice or Cyborg, the project’s only release, originally appeared on Clone in 2003, just months after member James Stinson passed away. It remains a superb example of timeless, otherworldly electro and techno fusion, with Stinson’s penchant for ethereal melodies, atmospheric chords and fizzing drum machine rhythms – such a regular feature of his work with both Drexciya and the Other People Place – rightfully coming to the fore. Naturally, the inherent positivity of some of the tracks is counter-balanced by clandestine creepiness in others, making Mice or Cyborg a brilliantly balanced and hugely entertaining collection of cuts.

The Exaltics feat. Rudolf Klorzeiger – Das Heise Experiment 2 – The Prequel [SOM044]

EXALTICS, The - Das Heise Experiment 2 (The Prequel)

The Exaltics are back with new transmissions from their universe in form of the second part of “Das Heise Experiment”. The first part from 2013 on Abstract Acid will see his follow up end of 2017 on 2xLP inclusive a Comic book about the story of the Heise Experiment. This amazing looking shape picture disc, developed with the dutch artist Godspill aka Mehdi Rouchiche, is “The Prequel” release and sees The Exaltics in assault mode. Side A brings a stomper in typical exaltics style with deep strings and a pumping bassline like an alien invasion which is on course to earth. Side B begins with a cryptic alien speech signal transmitted direct from the universe whilst the second track is a collaboration track with non other than Dopplereffekt’s Rudolf Klorzeiger. Both artists together create a timeless electro voyage with sharp snares and fast running basslines and combine their both styles perfectly together. Every record comes with a download code for the release itself and 3 exclusive bonus tracks. This release is strictly limited to 500 copies. The outer contour of the picture is also the contour of the record and makes this release to something really special and to a high collectable item.

Dopplereffekt – Cellular Automata [LSR020]

“Cellular Automata” is the new album from Dopplereffekt (Gerald Donald and Michaela To-Nhan Bertel), their first in ten years since 2007. Cellular Automata approaches mathematical growth and decay as an iterative process, with each data input considered individually relative to the overall model. The result represents one of the group’s boldest creative endeavors, defying expectations while remaining unmistakably Dopplereffekt. Cellular Automata is the third Dopplereffekt release to come via Berlin’s Leisure System label, following 2013’s “Tetrahymena” and 2014’s “Hypnagogia”.

Heinrich Mueller & The Exaltics – Project STS-31 – Spiralgalaxie [SOM040]

Project STS-31-Spiralgalaxie (Hubble Telescope Series Vol.3) A clash of the Titans! Celebrating Solar One Music’s 40th release and 10th anniverary, this split LP sees two stars under various disguises, Heinrich Mueller (aka Der Zyklus and various other projects) and German producer Robert Witschakowski aka The Exaltics, back to back in a no return odyssey through the depths of the Galaxy. Expect nothing but contemplative and cosmic electro beats using original outer-space sounds from the Universe. Closing the Hubble telescope trilogy which brought to you Luxus Varta and more recently E.R.P. (respectively with the “Everything Is Nothing” and “Ancient Light” EP’s), trippy “Spiralgalaxie” will mark a new step in SOM’s History. As usual, the final chapter of the series dedicated solely to Hubble and all the great scientists and engineers at the NASA and ESA, comes with a beautiful cover print picture taken by the Space Telescope. CD comes with bonus tracks by Project STS-31, The Exaltics, Robert Heise and a extended alternate bonus Version of Der Zyklus – Ionospheric Delay.

Der Zyklus – Renormalon [WEME31312]

Renormalon is a collaborative effort between Elena Sizova, Heinrich Mueller: music data and Dr Olga Karelkina: visual data + encoding. Its purpose technically is to visually and sonically communicate the renormalon physics principle. Each composition is separate component of the theory representing a particular phenomenon in the realm of quantum uncertainty. The observer is to be immersed conceptually and hopefully will experience discrete states of energy which is integral in atomic behavior.

Zwischenwelt – Paranormale Aktivitat [CAL007LP]

Zwischenwelt is a project combining the talents of former Drexciya member Heinrich Mueller, New York DJ and producer Susana Correia, Spanish producer Penelope Martin and vocalist Beta Evers. This is the first vinyl edition of this special project. A well executed audio-visual experience playing with the tension between machine and human vox. Musically rooted in the early 90’s lab-electro style that has been presented as Gesamtkuntwerk, further conceptualized and developed into an even more abstract but not any less powerful or less intense experience. Cold voices sonically merging with emotional machine sounds (or is it cold machine sounds merging with emotive vocal sounds?).

Der Zyklus – Axonometric EP [VF173]

Legendary electronic pioneer Gerald Donald of Dopplereffekt and Drexciya returns with an incredible four track EP under his Der Zyklus guise. It is fair to say Donald is an electro pioneer, godfather and leading figure in electronic music. The Detroit artist, who took inspiration from the likes of Kraftwerk and Yellow Magic Orchestra went on to form his own uniquely experimental sound and would inspire a generation of techno and electro producers with his boundary pushing attitude.

Scots-Belarusian electronic producer Dollska (formerly Dollskabeat) returns with her new EP ‘So Long for a Small Storm’. The EP features a rare remix by Detroit Legend Gerald Donald (Drexciya/Arpanet/Japanese Telecom) under the guise of Rudolf Klorzeiger and a bonus track ‘Opus Dreams’ by Dollska on the B-Side.

Drexciya – Black Sea / Wavejumper (Aqualung Versions) [CAL004]

Alternate mixes of two seminal Drexciya tracks. A longer version of Black Sea and a different mix for Wavejumper (without the infamous ‘skip’). And to finish it off an Unknown Journey.

Dopplereffekt / Objekt – Hypnagogia [LSR012]

Hypnagogia marks Dopplereffekt’s second appearance on Leisure System, following the Tetrahymena EP. This time the electro outfit has contributed one track, Delta Wave, which takes up the record’s A-side. Appearing on the flip is Berlin artist Objekt, whose mutant brand of bassy techno has appeared on labels like Hessle Audio and Power Vacuum. The label says the two efforts are ”borne of mutual inspiration” and were ”derived from a shared journey into extrasensory perception and subconscious thought.”

Visiona et Dopplereffekt – Die Reizen [TRAJECTORY1017]

https://clone.nl/platen/artwork/large/plaatimage28704.jpg

Collaboration between the fresh and immensely talented Visiona and the mighty Dopplereffekt. ‘Die Reisen’, encapsulating what you will soon recognize to be the distinctly warm and engulfing sound that is Visonia, here morphing with Dopplereffekt’s unmistakable, deadly bass arpeggio and subterranean stratospheres utterly amazing. Flip over to the AA side and witness Visonia with two markedly different styles. ‘Antarctic Love’ is an emotive piece of electronic music and ‘Impossible Romance’ a fresh, new-wave inspired.

Dopplereffekt – Tetrahymena [LSR007]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS501967-01A-MED.jpg

Three brand new sonic experiments from the Dataphysix lab! Detroit enigma Dopplereffekt has been resurrected, emerging from a grave of jagged detritus and technotrash for their first release since 2007. Dopplereffekt has always preferred mystery and myth, and the Tetrahymena EP on Leisure System is a scorching assertion of their capacity for hallucinogenic abrasion. Tetrahymena wanders through decommissioned factories and an omnipresent chemical haze, evasive and contemplative like the last man alive in a crumbling steel city. Whether in the ethereal voices and plunging bass of title track ”Tetrahymena,” the unidentified flying objects droning maliciously in the thunderous weapon ”Gene Silencing,” or the retch and hiss of arpeggiated bad trip ”Zygote,” it’s a transportive journey of dread as only Dopplereffekt can create. Leisure System is proud to release the Tetrahymena EP, an essential vision of dance floor dystopia from one of the most consistently compelling artists in electronic music.

Der Zyklus – Krypton 84 [WEME313.7]

Abstract modern electronica by Heinrich Mueller. First new material for the Der Zyklus project since 2008. Killer electro experiments from the laboratory of Gerald Donald aka Heinrich Mueller aka Dopplereffekt aka Der Zyklus. Motorik bass arpeggios propel ‘Krypton 84’ through a 3D stereo field buffeted by toxic gas explosions and prodding bleeps, over to the half-tempo lab-waltz of ‘Thorium 232’ and the concluding ‘Untitled’ anomaly.

Gedankenexperiment – Experiment Defined [WEME313.5]

“Gedankenexperiment” (german for ‘thought experiment’) is a one-time project by Beta Evers and Heinrich Mueller for WeMe313. For “Gedankenexperiment” Evers and Mueller designed a hypothetical situation and followed the structure of a typcial experiment to explore its consequences.
