Transformation / Beau Wanzer – Kozmik / Orbit [KODE05]

A split release on Nation’s sublabel, Kode. Two exclusive tracks from Transformation & Beau Wanzer. Transformation’s 2nd document of their time in the makeshift studio for another 15 minute psychedelic slo-trip continuing steps in creativity, gaining access to various pieces of musical equipment, hitting the garage, practicing and recording in hopes of making it, entitled “Sketch 4”. Over the past year Beau Wanzer’s output has been fueled by deformed synths, grim vocals, and hard hitting drums more suited for dungeon dance floors than heady home listenings. For his next release he offers an icy subdued drum machine workout. ‘Oklahoma 3’ was recorded in the winter of 2009 while visiting his parent’s house over the holidays. A combination of Roland drum machines, sampled jazz tones, and ambient atmospheres the track sets a tone for a bleak winter in the countryside.

Traxx – Demented – Fluids of Acid Adrenaline, Uncontrolled with Endless Effects

For the next episode we present an acidic journey through the familiar, yet unfamiliar realms of the uncanny. A special 2 hour and 42 minute presentation of psychedelia that recalls the dark corners of warehouse parties of a forgotten era, while at the same time, striking to the current core of modern jakbeat aesthetics. Further mind altering experiences are provoked and amplified by a delay pedal that runs its course from beginning to end, while making no apologies for its audible presence. And without further adieu, we present “Demented – Fluids of Acid Adrenaline, Uncontrolled with Endless Effects”, a sound painting by, Traxx.

Charles Manier – Luxus Steroid Abamita [BOP007]

Tadd Mullinix’s Charles Manier project returns with a third double-LP, Luxus Steroid Abamita, an edict of nine new amorphous transmissions and clustered, clangorous, hemi-synthetic funk. This is experimental machine music: it’s inspired by the fringes of dance, but skirts petrified arpeggios and other stock Wave and Technopop emblems. Its spirit elicits Sheffield Post-Punk and Düsseldorfer NDW desiderata, but exploits are crisp, psychedelic, and expansive.  Lyrics come as laconic Dada, sociopolitical impressions—in counterpoint to concrète tape smears, echoing guitar deluges, and entrenched in ever-shifting grime. A wide spectrum of density is proffered. Atmospheric zones are submerged, modulating knells. When tempos increase, sample & hold mutations make synthesizers sputter and writhe. The title track and opus,“Yopo (Calcium Tree)” carry this with heavy pulses—storming like locomotives.

D’Marc Cantu – The Lodge [AMR038L]

After a quiet 2016 which saw the label release only a single EP, Altered Moods Recordings launches the first in a steady stream of releases for 2017. With “The Lodge”, AMR has joined forces with techno and jakbeat wunderkind D’Marc Cantu. On this double-12, he shows us and the world his more melodic, deeper side, while still maintaining a sense of urgency and a fingerhold on the jakbeat throughout.

D’Marc Cantu – Hypnopompic [ENDILL010]

As the world collapses, dragging its unwilling inhabitants into insanity, a few things, fortunately, remain true. The man who’s contributed to the development of the JAK sound on behalf of the Nation community from Lake Michigan to the Dutch west coast, where he became well known for several EPs released on Creme Organization Records, is back. After two full-length albums, dozens of EPs and action in the 2AM/FM project, D’Marc Cantu has gained well-earned respect as an underground artist. We are very pleased to bring this little return to the JAK beat style.
