Innershades presents a heavy and vibrant trip through electro, techno and acid on Ocular Unity, the 12th release on Berlin’s Mechatronica. Following up on his ”Aalst To Charlois” rave weapon released on the label last year, the Belgian producer continues to push his signature sound in new directions, maintaining harmony and once again underlining his undeniable strength in producing hypnotizing electronic music for the floor.
Italian producers Teslasonic and Composite Profuse (aka. Heinrich Dressel) touch down on Berlin’s Mechatronica with a powerful and spacious electro record, splitting each side of the EP and remixing one another to full effect. The Breakout EP is an electrifying journey into their vision of electro, drawing on new inspiration and decades of musical output. From the dazzling cosmic funk of ‘Golden Sphere’ and ‘Teleforce’ to the strange and dark spheres of ‘Ausser Betrieb’ and ‘Thronic’, the two producers present a captivating outlook on the electro sound, bound to move bodies and transport minds.
Rotterdam fuses with Berlin, as Das Ding lands on Mechatronica for the third record in the label’s White series, dedicated to limited vinyl-only pressings of EBM, wave, synth, electro, italo, industrial and experimental sounds. ‘Alien Insane’ opens the record with a relentlessly progressing piece of dark machine music, followed by the dazzling cosmic journey of ‘Idiomatic Transnominator’, both tracks vividly blending Das Ding’s signature sound with classic Dutch electro, synth and italo styles.
Cestrian (aka Ali Renault) lands on Mechatronica for the Berlin label’s 10th release with a remarkably wide electro-driven EP, exploring different rims of the genre from the transporting melodic peripheries and weirder edges, to the raw core. Two hypnotizing journeys in ”Gradients” and ”Rake & Pikel” make up the A-side along with the frenzied styles of ”Cat Strain”. ”Speak & Spell” blasts open the flip with an anthemic groove and potent basslines, before ”The Weir” rounds off the EP in heavy and atmospheric fashion, concluding an essential electro record – for the mind and for the floor.
Mechatronica drops another forceful electro release, this time with a diverse collection of new and familiar faces. The Moroccan Casa Voyager crew conducts the A-side in style, Kosh carefully manufacturing an expanding, fat and spacey electro drive while OCB laces old school electro flavours with breaks, acid and devastating groove. On the flip, harder and darker electro sounds evolve as decade-long French electro producer Jauzas The Shining drops a potent electro/acid track in ‘Machine’, followed by the relentless energy of Stella – a murky, ever-intensifying journey through electro, breaks and industrial soundscapes by French producer Ersatz Olfolks.
Berlin collective Mechatronica continues their limited, vinyl-only White series dedicated to sounds across synth, new wave, EBM, italo and electro, with a split EP by Danish producer Nixxon and Italian dance wave wizard Franz Scala. Nixxon’s gloomy, cosmic electro slow-roller opens Mechatronica White 2, followed by the heavier sounds of West, driven by razor-sharp synth stabs, voodoo percussion and a colossal bassline to boot. On the flip, Franz Scala meshes italo, acid and spacey synth grooves into two effective anthems for the floor, destined to move bodies and transport minds.
Australian producers Jensen Interceptor and Assembler Code team up with The Hacker to deliver another powerful electro release on Mechatronica. Vapour Waves is blasted open by the effective, bumping sunray anthem Random Pain, followed by the darker soundscapes and wonky bassline of HRL6. On the flip, The Hacker’s stingy, metallic rework of Drive Shift plunges straight into the deep, following the cold groove and hypnotic design of the original version.
No Moon blends electro, breaks, acid and UK bass into a forward-thinking club EP for the 7th release from Berlin based collective, Mechatronica. Opening with ‘Sirens’, the A-side plunges straight into deep and breaky sub-domains, before sliding on to the brighter and melodic, but equally heavy workout, ‘Bathtub Dub’. On the flip, electro and UK bass come together on gloomy tool ‘Where Am I’, before ‘Acid IX’ finishes off the record with a blissful, distorted acid frenzy for the floor.
Mechatronica launches their new White series, dedicated to limited edition white label records across synth, wave, EBM and italo with a VA release featuring Inhalt, Violet Poison, Sneaker and Daniel Holt. Mechatronica White 1 opens with Sneaker’s gloomy remix of German synth-pop band Opus Leopard, followed by the electrifying instrumental version of ‘Alles’ – a relentlessly progressing piece of body music from San Francisco trio, Inhalt. On the flip, Violet Poison summons a fat, trippy EBM-leaning groove, before Daniel Holt finishes off the record with anthemic synths and a ticket to the cosmos on ‘Floating Mansions’.
Zeta Reticula a.k.a. UMEK drops a dose of razor sharp electro, built in collaboration with mysterious co-producer Helga Neuer. Having released records under the electro-driven moniker for the past 18 years, Zeta Reticula continues to develop his unique soundscapes of harmonic electro bliss, cinematic chords and powerful, dynamic bass. From the A-side’s anthemic title track and moodier journey of Luminsferatu, to the trippy realms of Mimic To Appear and Cromat, I Am Mensch truly encapsulates the sound of Zeta Reticula, and carefully blends inspiration from past, present and future electro domains.
Berlin’s Mechatronica returns with another compilation of forward-thinking electro and acid sounds from Innershades, Norwell, DJ Nephil and Gestalt. The A-side packs a dose of merciless electro/acid for the floor by Innershades, followed by a dazzling, atmospheric electro journey by Norwell. The flip boasts a more gritty sound, as Russian producer Gestalt debuts on Mechatronica with the twisted ‘Mndfck’, and DJ Nephil’s slow-rolling monster ‘White Dwarf’ finishes off the record.
Berlin’s Mechatronica with a new VA compilation featuring The Exaltics, Drvg Cvltvre, Le Chocolat Noir and Kluentah. The Exaltics and Drvg Cvltvre pack the A-side with gritty, hypnotizing acid burners, relentlessly paced and bound to induce frenzy. On the flip, Le Chocolat Noir and Kluentah (50% of Hamburg duo Fallbeil) dive deep into analogue driven electro trips, culminating with Kluentah’s 9-minute journey ‘Nightliner’.
With a fleshy mix of acid and electro cuts from Sync 24, Privacy, Luke Eargoggle, Etcher and -=UHU=-, Berlin’s longstanding machine-driven music collective, Mechatronica, forcefully unites the classic and new sound on their first record release. A first-ever collaboration between established electro commanders Luke Eargoggle and Sync 24 opens the record in toxic floor buming fashion, followed by a cold and tightly programmed electro journey by -=UHU=-, blending the mechanic and the monotone in a comment on today’s relationship between machine and man.
