w1b0 – When Humans Ruled The Earth LP [27UTRQDM27]
U-TRAX presents the debut album of Dutch producer w1b0, who sadly passed away in August.
Wibo Lammerts’ sudden death on August 15th shocked the worldwide electro community, and also left the record label, that had been working on the debut album with the artist known as w1b0 for the past two years, dumbfounded and in grief. Wibo had jokingly always called his upcoming debut album ‘his legacy’, which now sadly has become a painful truth. With the support of Wibo’s family, U-TRAX is now doing the only thing that doesn’t feel totally wrong: proceed as planned, and release ‘When Humans Ruled The Earth’. W1b0 made quite a name for himself with heavy electro tracks that he released on labels like Bass Agenda, Hilltown Disco and Discos Antónicos. Standing at 202 meters, and combined with a cheerful character, most people remember him as the gentle giant of electro. For this album, Wibo wanted to steer away from the dark and heavy electro he mostly made until then. The idea of having a platform to create delicate electronic music in different styles, and make it a showcase of his versatility, was very appealing to him.

Launched in late 2017, The Melting Point concept sees label founder Bloody Mary invite a selection of her favourite and most respected producers to offer up an exclusive cut that represents their own take on the acid sound. Dame-Music now presents Volume 4 of the V/A acid series, as she welcomes four new guests including Fear-E, dyLAB, Freddy Fresh and UMWELT to share the record with her this December, to mark the imprint’s 46th release.

A dream collaboration with Dario Argento for the soundtrack of his new film ”Occhiali Neri”, Maestro Arnaud Rebotini is back on Mannequin Records with a brand new 4-tracks ep ”I Drive East”. For this new ep, Arnaud started working more on a song form, deeply inspired by his rock’n’roll roots. Having heroes like Suicide or Alien Sex Fiend in mind, he was able to create the perfect link between EBM and Industrial Rock. The final production was orchestrated diving deep into percussive drums and digital synthesizers, a mega hybrid of analog and digital, recalling back our favourite mid-80’s productions.
Mike Ash – Robotik [OZONLTD002]
Mike Ash pops up on the revitalised Ozone Recordings with an EP rich in authentically sparse, sub-heavy bleep & bass cuts of the sort that were all the rage in Yorkshire back in the day. A-side ‘Robotik’ is, in effect, a loving tribute to Man Machine’s 1990 single ‘Man Machine’ (the bassline and electronic motifs are very similar), with slightly more jacking drums. ‘Bleep Off Again’ continues in a similar vein, with Ash adding sparse, alien bleep melodies and fuzzy electronic stabs to another beefy bassline and skittish TR-909 beats, while ‘Sub Roll’ is a pleasingly intergalactic affair full of Rob Gordon style bass, dreamy ‘LFO’ pads and sparkling lead lines.
SW. – okALGORYTHM LP [AVE66-18]
The elusive SW. returns to Avenue 66 with okALGORYTHM. His third LP for the label is a semi-opaque wandering through the shadowy byways of memory, driven by tough-yet-supple production and his unmistakable, unerringly original voice. Inspired by all night electronic radio shows of the ‘90s, okALGORYTHM pulses with rich imagination and a sense of purposeful meandering. Speaking in cryptic fragments, the artist hints at elusive reminiscences “back then on the autobahn, to Berlin, with friends” while also noting that some recollections are “of things that didn’t happen that way.”
