Lux Rec brings out the latest work by Mathematics & HotMix artist Joe Drive, delivering a spaced out three track EP, from “Clone Replacement” dark funk mutations to the Drexciyan electro of “Crossing the Forbidden Planet”, landing eventually on “Saturn 15” hitech soul.

Ricardo Miranda – Round Plastic Archives [BOSCONI017]

Bosconi Records presents a three tracker by Rocardo Miranda. Analogue pleasure and dancefloor goodness including the bouncy acid house groover “State Of Mind”, the dry and minimilastic Chicago rooted drum tool track called “Drum With The Funk”, and in the end the peaceful, dreamy and atmospheric trip of “No Sound”.

Dieptepunt – Feeling Deep [DIEPTE002]

DIEPTEPUNT - Feeling Deep (Delta Funktionen remixes) (Front Cover)

Dieptepunt was responsible for a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it 12″ on their own self titled imprint last year. Now, “Feeling Deep”, the title track from that EP gets two superb reworkings from Delta Funktionen. On the A-Side, his “Mono Mix” of the title track sees a churning bassline sitting inside some devastatingly simple kick drums, taken into more atmospheric territory with some heavily processed, silky pads. On the flip, his “808 Mix” begins with the kind of sparse tom and snare arrangement, before launching into some deep, squelching acid licks that sound like they’re wrapped beneath a swathe of damp mist.

XDB – Recago EP [DOLLY008]

This time it’s XDB delivering the goodies for Dolly, as always pushing the boundaries between house and deep techno. With this 4 excellent cuts XDB is taking the label in even deeper territories. Even though they are very well playable and will easily rock the floor, taking it up to somewhere between jupiter & mars, XDB’s tracks are more than just proper dj-tools. So well-crafted, deep, harsh and hypnotising, but always firmly keeping floor contact with minimal yet funky drum programming, exactly as this kind of music should be. To top things of, Brooks Mosher on remix duties delivers a Detroit inspired remix of ‘Sunda’.

Sepalcure – Sepalcure [HFCD006]

The duo of Travis Stewart (Machinedrum) and Praveen Sharma (Braille), utilize the broader canvas of the album format to develop their collaborative process and incorporate the diverse influences present in their solo work to their sonic mixture. But both artists add a crucial sense of emotional sensibility and melodic sensuality that defines the Sepalcure sound.

Redshape – On Da Floor [RB029]

The man with the mask has the ability to maneuver between true school techno, malicious house, break beat bombs and Motor City romanticism – all ornamented with Redshape’s very own mark. For Running Back, he delivers something like a cross sum of his work. “On Da Floor” is subterranean haunted house with a broken heart, while Goom features a take-your-shirt-off Reese-bass-line.

Dj Sotofett – DJ Sotofett Presenterer Dritfett [WANIA098]

All the tracks here are based around the 909 – thunderous kickdrums and sharp, hissing hi-hats that cut through the mix. Still, there’s a broad range of sounds, from head-down, fists-clenched warehouse workouts with an industrial edge, to more melodic tracks with Detroit references aplenty. Good honest techno with a real raw live feel.

Kartei – Lichtgarten [WT008]

The debut Ep from mysterious Parisian techno duo, Kartei, starts off with the Renaissance style “Lichtgarten”. In its unreleased state, the 15th century style arpeggio and driving beat already turned heads with appearances on some legendary Legowelt dj mixes. The record continues on with a modern track reminiscent of “hot on the heels of love,” and the heavy kicked aquatic space styled “Transponder”. And that is just the A side. The B side is big room Convextion/Basic Channel style techno and a gentle come down ambient track.

Dax J & Chris Stanford – Programm EP [ETG001]

EarToGround presents their first label release. Out of London comes the Programm EP with original sounds written and produced by Dax J & Chris Stanford. With their strong influences of traditional techno they have brought it’s rawest stripped back elements to life. A mechanism of deep synthesizer stabs, a hard but sweet kick drum and complementary hi-percussion & shakers setting a solid platform for this new born label. On the flip side, EarToGround welcomes remixes Shifted and Truss.
