Developer – Archive 4 [DEVELOPER004]

Modularz label head Developer continues with his fourth release on his solo project Developer Archive. This release features 5 strong and very functional tracks that stay within the ranges of his more stripped downdarker approach to techno. This is a limited vinyl release that continues to shed even more light on a consistentand effective producer that has been part of the re-surfacing and growing rise of American techno.
GW – EP1 [VIDD002]

Vidd is back after a long silence with their 2nd release, by GW from Stockholm. Surrounded by mystery and simplicity, ‘Hurry Up’ demonstrates both power and heft with few elements. The driving force builds a tension which really doesn’t reach a peak, something that the locked groove vocal manages to balance perfectly. The energy is constant and keeps things interesting. The B-side starts off with ‘Runaway’, a Chicago-resembling funk track that reflects the 90’s tradition and the new digital age. ‘Tonight’ closes the doors of this release and the closing lights come on, it’s time to go home.
VA – No Way Back [STHLMLTD028]

Cosmin TRG – Gordian [50WEAPONLP013]

The new album marks something of a new direction for Cosmin, however – it’s a much more intricate affair that deals in plenty of fuzzy texture, percussive energy and his trademark skimming bottom ends, but looks outside the techno world for its influences. “Gordian is as much a document of my past year as it is the beginning of a conversation. The title references an ancient myth, but describes the very contemporary, impossible task of discerning between real and replicated, authentic and contrived. Coping with facts, objects and bodies, the necessity of ‘making it’, fear of failure, fear of ‘not being happy’ are today’s topics, and Gordian is my attempt at an exploration of those issues.” (Cosmin TRG)
Petre Inspirescu – Fabric 68 [FABRIC135]

The Romanian Petre Inspirescu has exclusively used his own unreleased productions for fabric 68 makes. Petre’s recent and newfound love and appreciation of classical music permeates the deep structures and rhythms of fabric 68. Everything about the music that makes up the mix is long and liquid, silky and sinewy, with myriad different bass, instrumental and percussive threads wobbling and scurrying their way along.
“I recorded the mix at home and arranged only from my own productions, as I wanted to try to offer a more classical touch to the music I make for the dancefloor and to present it to people. Some of the songs were recorded more than one year ago, maybe two, and some recently. The songs include recordings with a trio (violin, cello, piano) in my studio, other instruments, voice (soprano) and modular sounds.”
Mihai Popoviciu – Decimals [HIGHGRADE128]

The German label Highgrade Records presents its new release Decimals, that comes from the hands of one of it’s most loyal fighters, the Romanian DJ and producer Mihai Popoviciu. The EP includes four tech house tracks, with elegance and dancing reunited in this new release of one of the most powerful labels from the tech house scene.

On this release we have tracks from 48v Spargel Brothers, Club Paranoia, Slazenger’s People and Freeman.
VA – Spargel Trax Vol. 3 [SPARG003]

The Exaltics – Das Heise Experiment [AACIDLP002]

The Exaltics have been rippin’-up the acid vibes for some time now, gathering momentum from the efforts and hard work of imprints such as Solar One Music, Transient Force, Last Known Trajectory, Bunker and Panzerkreuz and of course more recently Crème Organization, Trust and our friends at Abstract Acid. As such, the time has come for a full-length acid project, entitled ‘Das Heise Experiment’ which originates from The Exaltics’ desire to take things a notch deeper, while pushing the acid a step into more menacing and quite devilish territory. For those that appreciate such dastardly dark styles, well, you will not be disappointed with this album. Coarse acid coupled with sublime soundscapes and ubiquitously haunting melodies make for the perfect combination.
Ceephax – Cro Magnox [WEME025]

Ceephax, the pope of acid music of the 2000s, has grown up between Giorgio Moroder’s sound and the library music of the BBC. These multiple influences are transcribed again in this triple album which could be an imaginary OST. He proves with this work of art that he has reached his whole maturity thanks to a great sense of narration and his mastery of analogue machines. Welcome in Cro Magnox Planet!
Julian Edwardes – The Grinder [SHPFR001]

Split release of the two Dutch labels Shipwrec and Fremdtunes, casting off for uncharted waters, setting sail to proudly introduce a fresh new name to their ever expanding roster. Julian Edwardes is a Dutch artist that bends the limitations of Hip Hop and Bass Music, his first outing on vinyl takes elements of these sounds and twists them into a new form. The title track judders and shakes into life with a controlled tempo adding gravity to the mix. Sombre notes drop to create a melancholic muscular beast. The flip sees E.R.P. aka Gerard Hanson aka Convextion flying in from Texas on remix duty. Hanson weaves his magic, a lush melody of IDM depth descends to elevate this remix into something sublime.
DMX Krew – Broken SD1 140 Part 2 [WEME023]

“Broken SD1 140”: not only a reference to an old drum machine, but also a blatant lie… There is nothing busted about this fresh EP from Breaking Records boss DMX. Here we find him straddling the eons with a timeless blend of rich analogue electronica, classically trained electro and forward-thinking vibage. Highlights include the super-squelch warmth on the bassline of “Apple Grid”, the hard-nosed ghetto techmongering of “Superficial Appearance” and the timely vintage house riffery of “Dramatic Exit”.
