Token brings the 2nd single, from the debut album ‘Frames Of Reference’ by Ø [Phase]. ‘Dirtro II’ is definitely one of the standout cuts of the album and shows Ø [Phase] in his darkest and deepest mood. On the b-side he is joined by one of his biggest inspirations & one of techno’s most legendary innovators: Robert Hood. The result is a carefully executed yet explosive peak time cut.

Alien Rain – Acid Reign [DSC002]

Alien Rain is a tainted Techno project of Milton Bradley. Under this alias the Berlin based artist has served up disgruntled Electronics and downright deranged Acid. Panel beaten 90s tracks that pervert and pummel. Floor a-bombs that leave behind nothing but a 303 wasteland. Mr Bradley has caught the attention of Deep Sound Channel and been called upon to deliver his style of hypnotic fallout Techno. Two sealed vials of audio venom are the result. ”Acid Reign 1” is a looming beast, a corrosive creature dripping famine and pestilence from every pore. The flip is a steady builder. Slowly Alien Rain constructs an analogue scape. Bulging bass and tempered Acid annihilation threatens throughout but is kept in check. Beelzebub brutality from the warehouse warped mind of Milton Bradley.

Yoruba serve up the second single taken from Osunlade’s album “A Man With No Past Originating The Future”. Classic co-founder Luke Solomon gets things started with a sizzling tech house make over of Osunlade’s deep gem. On the A2, the master of all things deep, jazzy and experimental Isolee delivers a stunning rework. On the flip, the third remix offering comes from long time Yoruba associate and musical brother Atjazz.  With his signature sound he brings undeniable soul to the bunch while keeping the song’s integrity in tact. Our journey is completed by Yoruba’s own Rafael Moraes, one third of Nomumbah. Deep is the word for this one.

Route 8 / Dorylus – Living In A Village [BK006]

Two 707-led live jams recorded straight to cassette from Route 8. A fitting B side from Dorylus, also using a 707, this time coupled with a broken Korg Delta with only a few keys working.

Traumprinz – Mothercave [GLGLP003]

… In a soft night of confusion the ape was born into his lion mother’s lair. As he grew older, he danced in countless circles around his father’s fallen empire. Spent by fires of ecstasy, the departed reptile king appeared in his sleep and told one love will show you how to fly, and he sang forget the world, ’cause no man will ever wake up from that insubstantial world of cycles…

Innershades – Gravure EP [WB013]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS514046-01A-MED.jpg

Rising Belgian producer Innershades returns to Ukrainian label Wicked Bass for a second 12″ of the year. Given the fact That Girl, his debut EP for Wicked Bass was so popular it’s no surprise to see Innershades back and he’s laid down some serious productions. Lead track “Granuere” is banging through acid heavy techno in suitably grotty fashion, which contrasts nicely with the more electro-indebted ruffstep of “A Night To Forget”. Here Innershade’s quickly established rep for mnulti-layered synths shines, as it does on the chunky, whistle laden “Never-ending Summer” This latter track is giving a bustling house makeover from that man Dexter which sounds equally contemporary and redolent of a 90s R&S B Side.

Marcos Cabral – Capri Social [LIES039]

Brand new material by Marcos Cabral following his False Memories 2xlp archive release earlier this year. On the Capri Social EP we see Cabral offering three varying tracks all touching upon the outskirts of house, techno and beyond as he captures the energy of the machines to create effective and engaging psychedelic excursions.

Ghost Train – Ghost Train [EES008WL]

New mysterious release on Emotional Especial. First track ‘Ghost Train’ is a shouty dischordant dance floor number that hits all the right spots. It cleverly builds tension through it’s shifting synth line, avoiding all the usual dance floor clichés whilst still managing to retain the right energy. It comes with a dub version on B side. B1’s ‘Meteor Shower’ continues in the same vein though is the more subdued of the pair, with trance leaning synths underpinning more spooky synth work. It doesn’t kick as much as the A side but will find favour with DJs unafraid to mix things up stylistically. listen1 / listen2

Torn Hawk – We Burnt Time [VV010]

https://i0.wp.com/images.junostatic.com/300/CS508292-01A-MED.jpg

Valcrond Video, the label of Brooklyn-based visual artist and producer Luke Wyatt presents it’s very first vinyl issue in the shape of two new tracks from Torn Hawk, one of Wyatt’s aliases. First coming to the fore in a musical sense with a set of distressed guitar and asphalt beat attacks on the LIES White Label series, Torn Hawk has been closely associated with Ron Morelli’s label ever since with Wyatt subsequently working with Karen Gwyer, Secret Circuit and Willie Burns. Distancing himself a bit from the grime and grit some associate with his productions, the two new tracks have more in common with the more expansively voiced compositions on Emotional Response release Teen Hawk, or the cinematic melancholy of the untitled EP he released under the alias Lossmaker. Clearly Wyatt is building towards housing all his musical instincts under one roof.
