Andrew Soul – Take It As It Comes EP [45693]

Andrea Solitario aka Andrew Soul is joining the Popcorn family with a Deep Acid work. Through 3 originals, this Italian born artist begins the EP with Don’t Let Others Influence Your Thoughts, as a deep introduction. Heavy bass starred with TR707 drums and filtered voices. Free mind remain in the same mood with an additional dance floor touch. The acid synth in the second part conveys the listener to the old school acid house basics. Where is Your Identity close the Ep with electric drops sprinkled through the theme, drums, reverbed voices and a nice deep groove.

Xosar – Wildlyfe Genesis [CR1261]

Lord only knows why this Genesis to so long to generate. As heard in various Mixes and Podcasts from way back when. Highly anticipated by some we would say, this DNA Bomb from Xosar, laying out the templates for epigones and sycophants alike. Perhaps not the most soft petalled paths to travel, but in order to find redemption one must be willing to sacrifice!

Lerosa – Woman Flew Home EP [PF004]

LEROSA - Woman Flew Home EP

Photic Fields’ next release comes from another (Italy born) Irishman, Lerosa. He’s always exploring the edges of house, techno and electro to create something new. With this record he also explores the emotive side of things, in a rough edged and analogue way. The record starts off with ‘some things endure’, an introspective piece with a deep and dark synth pad. ‘Nebula Raider’ breaks open the record with its euphoric feel and acid hints. On the b-side you’ll find two joyful cuts: the uplifting ‘dream of flight’, and the closing track of the record, ‘postmodern’, with its playful keys and emotive synth tones.

Echo 106 – Infernal Regions [LXRC014]

Lux Rec presents the second appearance of Echo 106 on the label. The two brothers descended into Infernal Regions to witness torturing flames, black magic woods, seas of damned souls and ice cold bodies. So brave, although not without any fear, they went close enough to sense such pains themselves. Carving five songs that depict their gloomy journey to an extent that, as the last song says, all is heard indeed.

Kid Machine – First Contact [CYBERDANCE015]

Cyber Dance Records return with a full-length double-vinyl album from Manchester’s Kid Machine (aka Mark Wilkinson) following a string of instantly sold-out EPs for Viewlexx, Red Laser and Flight Recorder. A long-time collaborator of world-famous Italo Disco DJ Flemming Dalum, it’s no surprise that many of the tracks have that hallmark space sound reminiscent of the likes of Cyber People and Koto, but Mark stamps his own distinct identity on the genre by slowing down the BPM’s and incorporating many other influences throughout so that this is no retro affair but a distinctly fresh and modern take on the genre. No mere collection of dance tracks, this is a proper album in the truest sense of the word. From the dark and powerful strains of the opening ‘This Is My Universe’ to the rousing emotional closing track ‘Golden Triangle’ Mark takes us on an epic synthesised journey that is as comfortable on the home stereo or night-drives in the car as it is on the dancefloor. Effortlessly incorporating elements and themes ranging from the cosmic (‘Forever In The Stars’, ‘Leaving Space’, ‘Astromance’, ‘Starbreaker’, ‘Galaxia’) to the militant (‘We Are At War’) to subconscious fear (‘Nightmares’), everything flows with an ease far beyond the short time that he’s been releasing music so far and revealing why his rise has been such a lightning phenomenon.

What’s the end product? The rather hot looking Chicago Service from the Amsterdam label Lumberjacks in Hell which features a merry cast of the city’s finest in Gene Hunt, Rahaan, Jamie 3:26, Cratebug, Hugo H and Boogie Nite across two hot plates.

Mannequin are pleased to present a crown jewel from the early 80s Italian Minimal Synth scene. The Monuments came into being in January 1981 in Turin when Mauro Tavella (keyboards, programming) and Andrea Costa (keyboards, voice) pooled their artistic experiences. From the outset they produced exclusively synthesised music, following the natural evolution in electronic music from the early days with monophonic synthesisers to the latest virtual sounds generated with the aid of computers.

Dust – Onset Of Decimation [MNQ039]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS499996-01A-MED.jpg

Widely regarded for their efforts to promote the minimal synth scene in home town Rome, the Mannequin label have always proved themselves capable of looking much farther afield with equally good results. Mannequin return to the States here, but swap coasts landing in NYC to present this excellent release from Brooklyn troupe Dust. Described by the label as “a contemporary ouroboros of acid house, combat techno, and late italo”, Dust are a Bushwick-based music collective whose numbers include avant garde Korean noise goddess Green Jellyfish, psych musician/model Angela Chambers, dungeon wizard/tech genius audio engineer Michael Sherburn and DIY nightlife entrepreneur /DJ John Barclay. So far so Brooklyn you might say, but there’s evidently something special about Dust on the basis of all four tracks on the Onset of Decimation 12?, with final track “I’m Melting” particularly memorable; it feels like the work of Legowelt and Xosar shaken free of any tape dust by the sheer force of the reverberating acid lines that propel matters forward.

Reeko / Architectural – The Blue Album [POLEGROUP018]

The Blue Album is Spanish producer Juan Rico’s new album. He is the mind behind Reeko and Architectural, two projects that on this occasion melt into one offering a wide perspective of the nuances of his sounds. Here you can find all the aspects of techno sound, from ambient landscapes, to dubby and liquid textures or pulsating abstract techno exercises. “Blue” starts the trip with dubbed echoes, floating textures and fat spaced out chords: the best way to switch on the ignition and prepare for the upcoming sonic voyage.
