By introducing its latest ep to the world Swedish based Kvalia Records continues to cement its position as one of Scandinavia’s most influential techno labels of today. Time Passages celebrates their ten years of existence with a stellar line up of artists; this is the full LP to complement a shorter EP. The mood on this one is decidedly hellish yet, of course, for that very reason, tempting to cop; this being the characteristic of the flagrant provenance of DJ and producer Binh, whose brand of sinister minimal techno and electro always turns up scorched, hardened into granite, by the embered airs of hardcore. The Berlin outfit welcome The Model and DJ Hell on the A1 side, with the first opening up his own private bacchanal into the hungry streets with ‘Eat More House’ – a motto we can really chew on – while Hell’s ‘Alienation’ plays on similar themes, with a central acid riff and sniper clap pattern. Barnt and Bezier steer and slow the B-side to a canter, the latter especially on the low-slung, ominously new beat-inspired ‘Roter Faden’, while the likes of Z@p and DC Salas go on to encrust the ensuing sides with a haunted clog of synthpop and new wave judder-offs.
Next up on Funnuvojere Records is label boss Massimiliano Pagliara’s highly anticipated ‘Hooking Up’ EP. Featuring four distinct club belters, each one is crafted to suit different moments of the party. The new EP once again truly showcases Massi’s deep understanding of the dancefloor.
X-Masters deals only in authentic underground sounds and Böhm keeps the reputation up to scratch with this new hand-stamped 12″. It opens with the title track ‘It Is Hard To Feel Good’ which taps into 90s deep hose magic with dusty pads and drums, ‘Healing’ picks up the pace with some hi-tek synth stabs that light up the analogue drums and ‘Material 1’ then has a deep feel once again with a haunting synth phrase and crispy hits. ‘Planet Purple’ shuts down with some pulsing, sonar-like blips and lo-fi drum grooves.
Rawax welcomes back Mr. Rick Wade on the 25th Rawax Motor City Edition. It’s the 4th release form Rick Wade on this series, which is dedicated to the Love for Detroit Music.
DJ Dez Andres drops new heat on his label GT Flips. The man is a beat-making machine, extraordinary DJ and avid record collector who distils all that house and hip-hop knowledge into his always stylish cuts. ‘No 1’ opens up this latest jam on GT Flips and has a boogie-fried lead synth line, deep drums and chopped vocals that amp up the party but also have plenty of heart to them. ‘Doobie’ is the flipside offering and it finds Andres sampling another 80s soul classic and reworking it over some of his textbook and textured drums that perfectly straddle the house and hip-hop divide.

Norwell’s new single on Dalmata Daniel’s DDE series, featuring two contrasting tracks. ‘Greta’, the A-side, is a bright and ethereal composition, reminiscent of his track Outer Delta Dynamics from the ODD EP, with uplifting synth melodies and a futuristic vibe. The B-side, ‘Hope’, takes a darker turn, offering a deeper, more melancholic tone, driven by bass-heavy synths that echo his previous electro oriented release that was meant for the dancefloors.

Dark Entries summons Philadelphia synthesizer scribes The Ghostwriters to rouse their ambient masterwork ‘Remote Dreaming’. The late Buchla maestro Charles Cohen and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Cain joined up in 1971 to craft electroacoustic chaos as Anomali, later renaming themselves The Ghostwriters. Their collaborations with choreographers and visual media artists led to their singular style, straddling improvisation and composition, the oneiric and the immediate. Following their debut album, Objects in Mirrors, they were approached by ambient outlet Mu-Pysch. Remote Dreaming would take shape in various studios over nine months. Jeff Cain’s instruments on this project included electric and acoustic pianos, the Juno 106 synthesizer, and a Mirage sampler, while Charles Cohen used his signature Buchla 200 Series Electronic Musical Instrument. A stark departure from the tightly wound first LP, Remote Dreaming shows the duo unfurling with soothing pianos and psychoacoustic textures, its somnambulant drones just skirting the edges of the uncanny. Although ignored in its time, Remote Dreaming is now heralded as a landmark in 80s experimental ambient music. Proceeds will be donated to SOSA (Safe from Online Sex Abuse), a nonprofit that combats online child sex abuse and trafficking.
Mariano Melo, also known as Marian Sarine, is a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist based in Sao Paulo, specialising in percussion and drums. His latest album, Asas Terenas, is his first under this name and started with organ recordings made with Felipe Pato in late 2019 and was completed with additional instruments added in the years that followed. ‘Asas Terenas’ features a mix of rhythmic improvisations built on modal scales, combining dynamic interplay between notes and percussion. Drawing inspiration from artists like Charanjit Singh, who merged traditional North-Indian ragas with electronic music, and African organists like Hailu Mergia, it combines old and new sounds, merging spiritual elements with energetic rhythms. As Sarine himself says, Asas Terenas is a sonic mixture that moves the feet and lifts the soul, creating an experience that is both pristine in sound and transcendental on the dancefloor.
