Savage Hymn – Indecision [RONG037]

SAVAGE HYMN - Indecision

NYC’s ever-reliable party institution Rong Music train their sights on the mainroom with this white label promo from Savage Hymn, the new collaboration between Chicago veteran Mystic Bill and NY stalwart Jake Reif. Pumelling out the speakers on an undulate 303 bassline and a stampede of hard hitting percussion, “Indecision” soon establishes itself as the finest acid house record since Paranoid London’s “Paris Dubs 1”. The combination of detached spoken vocals, eerie synth lines and touches of almost post punk attitude supply an extra layer of snarl which pushes this above the other acid tracks floating around today. On the flip, Blakkat and DJ Spun revive their Black Spun moniker to drive “Indecision” even deeper and darker into the post peak thunderstorm of blazing strobes.

Light Sounds Dark – DSL002 [DSL002]

Light Sounds Dark travels through space enclosed within a case of its own building, surrounded by a mass of the forms created by our habitual thoughts. Through this medium we look out upon the world and naturally see everything tinged with its predominant colors, and all rates of vibration which reach us from without are more or less modified by its rate.” This is what is meant when they say that another person’s vibes are “on my wavelength…”

Etcher – Corrosive Days [PAMLTD012]

Pastamusik present Corrosive Days a Acid-Bass 4-Tracker by Etcher. The title track Corrosive Days deals with the consistent depletion of time at every single day. No matter what happens, at the end the time is irrecoverable gone und the process start all over again. In Wormway we dive underneath the earth, into the myriads of tunnels created by our little flat mates during their ever- lasting travels through the ground. On the B-Side we first get electronically sedated Sedition and then converted into steam Vapor People to finally float away like little clouds. With Corrosive Days, Etcher submitted a terrific homogeneous and timeless interpretation of classic Roland-Productions and successfully avoids to sound frumpy or worn-out.

Perseus Traxx – The Magic Garden [TC003]

Next up on Titanic City is Nigel Rogers AKA Perseus Traxx. He has been a staple part on most record bags, a man dedicated to performance outside the box. There’s a rough and raw DIY feel to this music that makes it jump out of the speakers and arrest your attention, as is always the case with Titanic City.

Gunnar Haslam – Margareten EP [MSN014]

Gunnar Haslam returns to dancefloor pastures with this follow-up for the esteemed NYC Mister Saturday Night imprint. Opener “Poshlost” is trippy and melancholic, with dusty, dub techno-influenced chords ricocheting around a delay-laden sound-space, underpinned by a simple-but-effective rhythm. “Margareten” ups the intensity, with ragged acid lines and a relentless techno groove providing contrast to the deepness of his chords. Finally, “Replacement” sits somewhere between the two tracks, with rolling techno chords, fuzzy textures, gently building melodies and fizzing percussion creating a rush-inducing mood.

Jack Ingoff – The Turn Off EP! [AAACID002]

Amir Alexander Acid (AAACID) returns with his Jack Ingoff alias, a sub-alias of his Smiley Virus pseudonym to bring you an abstract acid dj tool EP. As per usual, the tracks on this label always feature odd time synth patterns against 4×4 beats creating poly-rhythmic effect that first stupefies and then invigorates the crowd as they realize that these are not the average acid tracks. Stripped raw bangers. Just 909 and a 303 pure and simple.
