The Bunker New York presents a surprise EP from veteran techno producer Mark Verbos – a man whose discography stretches back over 20 years – fits that remit. Flitting between acid-laden psychedelic intensity (“Just A Little Late”), high-octane loop jams (“In The Back Room”) and sweaty, all-out assaults on the senses (the metallic madness that is “Start Up Drive”), it portrays Verbos as a masterful producer of no-holds-barred dancefloor techno. Interestingly, he diverts a little from the script on the EP’s final moment, “Walk The Distance”, combining sparse dub techno rhythms and ghostly electronics.

The Bunker New York delivers a second collaborative Romans EP from Gunnar Haslam and acid obsessive Tin Man. They go in hard from the off, blending extended analogue bass, metronomic rhythms and wiggly acid lines on “Enoma”. There’s a classic bleep feel about the ghostly chords on “Coptos”, which seemingly float above a hard-as-nails techno groove. They seem to soften a little on “Delenium”, which pairs the uplifting, end-of-night ethos of progressive house with classic Detroit techno sounds.

Treacle thick tech treats from Black Merlin on super-limited vinyl. Worked on an all-analogue set up, both “Burn It” and “Experiments In The Dark” take us back to the early ’90s when Black Strobe were smashing down European boundaries and Beltram was doing the same in the US. “Burn It” is the real crunchy groove-heavy cut while “Experiments In The Dark” takes us even deeper inside our own minds with an orgy of modem banter.

HFP010.5 is a group of tracks taken from the HFP005 recording session, rescued from the cutting room floor and transferred to a very limited 10” pressing 100 copies only.

Warm, washy chords collide with bubbling, subterranean acid and crunchy drum work on this subtly epic debut from Swiss newcomer, Tissu, with his trippy delay-drenched synths giving everything an astral-aquatic quality.

Liverpool label Scenery Records continues to shine a light on local talent by next turning to Mark Forshaw for a new four track EP. Remixing is the singular Autodidakt Records boss Daniel Andréasson and once again the release showcases a gloopy, analogue heavy house and techno sounds with influences of acid and beyond.

Invincible Scum are here to save you from our once certain fate. A bounty of golden acid and precious gems lies before you. HEAR the mystical 303 weave it’s tales of yonder and FEEL the pounding of the electronic drum deep in your soul….seize the moment and celebrate this day for it is ours! ZTAUR is the fourth of 12 releases from Z O D I A C 4 4. One for each sign of the stars and then Z O D I A C 4 4 is forever dead and gone.

Contort Yourself returns with “Events at the Fatal Party” which comes over more as a description than a title, brimming with a bubbling sense of tension and fear. Hamburg duo Fallbeil kick things off in impressive style with a crunchy acid monster which twists and turns followed by two killer proto-techno cuts from legendary French industrial band Die Form from their 1985 tape Hurt. Here we find ourselves in a unsettling scenario with metallic voices scowling over clanging machines and guitar feedback in an unhinged way. The mysterious Slugbug starts the flip with “Goback”, a creeping acidic beast moving unstoppably forward as a reverberating voice ripples throughout. Any calm is then shattered by IBM a.k.a. Jamal Moss whose remix of Die Form hammers home a tough seven minutes of mangled synths, bubbling acid and thundering drums.

Jean-Louis Huhta aka Dungeon Acid with a new release on Borft. 4 Dark acid stompers by this percussionist & electronic music veteran.

Barcelonian underground BLD hits us with a new EP straight to the Club. Two versions of the monstrously acid and beautiful dub building track Crawling on the A side and the epic break beat Twisted on the flip side.

Laid down with authority by L/F/D/M are four no nonsense cuts blasting fresh air into that perennially en vogue phenomenon known as acid house. Opener ”Spare Ribs, No Napkin” is meaty and greasy with abandon, as rude and distorted as it is irresistibly syncopated. ”Cutting Fingers” contrasts with a slow burn with a deep kick anchoring shifting rhythms and unsettlingly hypnotic riffs. Flip this treasure over and get pummeled by the rolling stomp of ”Heavy Clouds with its massive 808s and just-off-the-nose acid cycles. Closing things out is the bright paranoid jack of ippos In Slumber” with its muted chords adding freaky color to steady and heady 707/303 workout that charms and overpowers with an electric stink that lingers long after the needle has reached the lead-out groove.
