The French G-Prod brothers debut on Fluid Electronics with the lavish, Detroit-flavoured “One Trice” EP. True to the Motown house scene’s idiosyncratic engineering of raw throb and velvet touch, this four-track slab pays tribute to that classic sound which still infuses far and wide in today’s musical landscape. On the menu, two original hot cakes from the Gaugain siblings complemented by a pair of remixes courtesy of Irish vibist Derek Carr and UK-based deep grooves manipulator, John Shima.

Classy Detroit leaning four track electro EP by Derek Carr on his own label Trident Recordings. Derek’s brand of Detroit-influenced electronic futurism has always oozed class, with the Irish producer prioritizing mood, melody and ear-pleasing synth sounds above all else. It’s this blend – both club-ready and perfect for home listening – that makes his releases worth checking. Electro Statik (Part One) is the first in a series of vinyl excursions that as usual blur the boundaries between styles. He begins with the immersive chords, jumpy lead lines and smooth house beats of ‘In Transit’, before diving headlong into deep electro-meets-IDM waters on the impeccable ‘Mimas’. Turn to side B for the skittish, far-sighted and picturesque electro-not-electro number ‘A Star Dies’, as well as the warming, pitched-down electronic melancholia of ‘Dione’.

Common Dreams bring a new 4 tracker from Mihail P, including a special John Shima remix. Electro breaks, synth basses and a cool pad to complete the perfect journey.

Moods & Grooves welcomes the return of one of Detroit’s best multi-talented producers, Andrés. “Back In The Open” chops up a classic hit along with a few unknowns that will keep the floors moving throughout the night.

Patrice Scott emerges from the studio, once again, with a fresh 4-tracker of authentic Sistrum sounds to soothe, move and invigorate listeners, worldwide. The vibes are high and the grooves are modern, yet firmly rooted in tradition. Put simply, this is proper deep house music for the heads, crafted as only Patrice can.

The next Selections release comes from Parisian artist Jamn Ensemble. “The Snows of Yesteryear” features 3 instrumental tracks of sublime deepness with hints of acid and techno. The EP also sees Basic Soul Unit (Stuart Li) on remix duities. Stuart has added some late night rawness to the title track “The Snows of Yesteryear”.

When a spark ignites between two musicians, the state of flow can be achieved. Usually, a fleeting sensation, but when captured, it is an unstoppable force. The coming together of Jeff Mills and Jean-Philippe Dary came from a collaborative project with the late great Tony Allen and created chemistry instantly. Both being cognizant of the skilled innate improvisation that was happening in small jam sessions, they conceived the concept for their collaborative project: The Paradox. They believed that this uncompromising freedom and the manifestation of new ideas allowed them to reach a higher level of spiritual consciousness within their work. Recorded in real-time; these compositions reflect captured spontaneous actions which concede honesty and truth.

Network’s 30th Anniversary celebration continue with a dig in the vaults finding three timeless treasures from UK Techno pioneers Nexus 21. The “Progression Logical” highlights how skilfully the Stafford duo – Mark Archer and Chris Peat – combined their love of Detroit inspired Techno with North of London Bleep culture. The third track is well and truly an historic piece of Techno history – Carl Craig’s first ever remix no less.

Erell Ranson confidently displays his renowned character of finely textured Electronics with old school aesthetics on Propersound 007. Electro, Deep Techno, and Downtempo are the styles traversed to you from the machines with emotive class, and ambient pads across 4 lovely tracks.
