Kirk Degiorgio – Divine Logic [RH037]

Kirk Degiorgio returns on  Rush Hour with a new single, entitled ‘Divine Logic’. With ‘Divine Logic’ he keeps true to his own tradition by delivering a timeless piece of techno music. A string-laden track that evolves around an arpeggiated synth line. A classy joint that shows that the heritage of Detroit techno still lives on.

MK / The 7th Plain – The MKappella / Lost [XDSR002]

Second release in the Delsin X-DSR series containing re-issues of personal favourites.. MK’s The MKappella was originally a track on the b-side of the very original version of his huge Burning EP on the Area 10 label. The MKappella is some original innocent deep sunset house. Other side contains the adventurous ‘Lost’ by The 7th Plain aka Luke Slater, taken from his debut album ‘The 4 Cornered Room” way back from 1994, the high days of the UK Techno scene, with lot of hints towards the original Detroit sound.

GB – The Provider EP [DX002]

Superb interstellar electronic grooves from LA’s Gifted and Blessed. A-side is a loosely jazzed, freeform Techno number called ‘Provider’, nodding to Drexciya with a fluid, hardware driven sound close to those recent smarts from Aybee. Flipside features the flashier Electrofunk of ‘The Receiver’, coming again with the soul-flowing 313 signatures and an irresistible feel for wired, metallic grooves, while ‘We Can See You’ neatly balances nastier EBM flavours with damn sweet chords and a heavy dose of roughed-up machine funk.

Raiders Of The Lost Arp – On And On [CURLEP005]

Classic Italian Electro-House from Mario Pierro’s Raiders Of The Lost Arp, reissued and backed with a brand new Patrice Scott remix. Reservedly sophisticated keys and deft bassline programming make for an enchanting original, while the Sistrum boss’ remix places more emphasis on hefty kicks and modulating acidic tweaks without losing the debonaire groove.

Norm Talley – Transmissions Part 2 [THEMA028]

Future Past – Game Theory EP [ART-DDS007]

Kirk Degiorgio dusts down his Future Past moniker for a no-nonsense techno release. The title track typifies the EP, with a bubbly bassline and doubled up claps supporting whooshing, churning filters. It’s the same approach on “Sparta”, where a walking bass and warbling acid lines suggest a clean, pure sound, but then an intense filter pushes it into the realms of peak-time techno. “Skrunch” dispenses with the lighter, more playful elements in favour of a tunnelling groove that flows to the sound of arcing acid and a dark riff undertow, while “An Act of Modulation” completes the transfer from bubbly techno to a leaner-edged sound with squelchy tones tweaked against the backdrop of an insistent spiky rhythm track.

Eduardo De Le Calle – Trilogy Part 1 [ASR010]

The first of three Analogue Soultions 12″s to arrive from the studio of Eduardo De Le Calle. The untitled track that sprawls across the A-Side is quietly charged with the resonating echoes of ghostly, tracky beats and a hanging synth loop that positively drips with tension. Better still, “Track 2” exudes a downtempo, smoky vibe thanks to its sub aqueous rhythms and sporadic piano stabs, while “Track 3” worms deeper still into the electronic unknown.

A Drummer From Detroit – Drums #1 [FIT004]

Naturally for a producer who prefers to remain anonymous and call themselves A Drummer From Detroit and name their debut EP Drums, both tracks here veer into dextrously percussive house territory. Amidst the dizzying, jazz influenced rattle of Shake Shakir style rhythms that characterise the A Side workout our erstwhile protagonist weaves in desperate vocal strains and overtly dramatic piano and horn stabs which only serve to increase the panic inducing pace. The flipside treatment is slightly slower in its execution, yet increases the jazz funk melodic elements which make it the less a hectic and more involving production.

Hazylujah – Too Many Ghosts EP [DSRSP003]

Hazylujah is a new talent from Italy who here presents the first in a new series of webshop exclusives. His four track ‘Too Many Ghosts EP’ is a fizzing and machine wired world of deep space atmospherics, house beats and techno futurism. It clunks and splutters with analogue details in its own unique way.

Fake Left – The Future That Never Was [IS002]

Second release on iS Records. The A-side, The Future Never Was combines sparse beats and pads held together by a growling stuttered bass, which gives the track an industrial feel but on a techno/house tip. On the flip, Fake The Feeling, draws on sounds beyond the current trend for vintage analogue in an original take on the house blueprint. The B2 track Out of Orbit is 4 minutes 48 seconds of Tech soul, for the floor or the headphones.
