VA – Black Gloves EP [GD001]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS454213-01A-MED.jpg

Giallo Disco Records presents their first release Black Gloves EP. Between Berlin and Vienna, Giallo Disco Records is a new label dedicated to the sub-sub-genre of Horror Disco. Gianni Vercetti’s macabre soundtracks are presented with lashings of VHS grain. ‘L’Incubo Senza Fine’ is dripping with tension, a relentless kick drum thud like the march of the undead themselves. Legowelt’s remix only adds to this, calling on the sound of his most recent collection ‘The Teac Life’. Antoni Maiovvi’s Rituals Of Lust is a 98bpm dark EBM/New Beat-esque stomper. Retro-space age futurism, battleships preparing for war near the moons of Jupiter. Themroc(k)’s would perhaps be the perfect music for a malfunctioning T-800, demented vocals a-go-go. Dark brooding action soundtracks for a bleak tomorrow.

Emeralds – Does It Look Like I’m Here? (Daphni Mixes) [JIAOLONG002]

Feted kosmische synthesizer wizards from Cleveland OH, Emeralds, have never had any of their music remixed before. Let alone having the title track from their acclaimed 2010 album reworked (twice) into a floor-filling behemoth by Daphni (aka Dan Snaith aka Caribou). “We toured together in 2010 and since then I’ve always wanted to play their music in my DJ sets. So I did my own version of this track”, says Snaith. “It’s one of those tracks that whenever I play it I can feel the energy in the room lift.” Luckily Emeralds were equally enthusiastic and so this unlikely hybrid see the light of day. …or rather the dark inside of a club.

Plant43 – Dreams Of The Sentient City [SEMANTICA041]

https://i0.wp.com/clone.nl/platen/artwork/large/plaatimage23442.jpg

Plant43 returns on Semantica with a four-track electro EP. Most of the new material exhibits the melodic and placid side of electro, starting with “Neon”, good for nocturnal downtown cruising in a light drizzle.  “Stellar Nursery” embarks on a space mission in more upbeat mood, expressed by blooming arpeggios and subtle disco bass, all resulting in a hefty dose of analog harmony. After futuristic dreaming and little melody played in “Metamaterial Cloaking”, the gates are smashed open in “Fluid Reasoning” for a turbocharged cavalry, whereas Plant43 is not afraid adding some trance quotient to this wake-up call.

VA – Episode 1 – Messier 42 [IT001]

Tracks by Humandroid, Dark Vektor, Antoni Maiovvi & Synthesized. ‘In the interstellar medium are regions known as nebulae, they formed by gas and heavy chemical elements in the form of cosmic dust. Have a significant cosmological importance since many of these regions are where stars are born by phenomena of condensation and aggregation of matter. One of the most beautiful is M42 or Messier 42, the Orion Nebula…’

Janitor Of Lunacy – Crimes On The Dancefloor LP [MNQ008]

Big release by one of the best electronic Cold Wave bands from Italy. Janitor Of Lunacy were an Italian New Wave electronic band, active in Brescia from 1981 to 1986, composed by Kovre, Claudio Asserini and Gabriele Farina. With this line up, JOL produced a demo tape in 1983 entitled ‘Crimes On The Dancefloor”, which was very well reviewed by the italian music press. Thanks to such great feedbacks, the band was choosed for various compilation of the era, playing many live shows in historic clubs like Xenon in Florence or Odissea 2001 in Milano, sharing the stage with Weimar Gesang and some others Supporti Fonografici related bands. In 1986 JOL entered in studio for recording their first full-lenght for this label, album publicized by various magazine but that never saw the light of the day, due to artistic divergences.

White Car – Everyday Grace [HIT015]

Hippos In Tanks’ carefully assembled roster, White Car are the label’s darkest, sexiest operators. Hailing from the Pilsen neighbourhood in Chicago, their debut album ‘Everyday Grace’ channels that Eurotic undercurrent of Techno/Wave/drug music which has fuelled the city’s subterranean scene since the earliest days. Like an hallucinatory audio version of the scramble suits in A Scanner Darkly, their chimeric, cyberdelic fantasia assimilates elements of 30 years + of debonaire, thrusting automatik funk, from DAF to NIN to CTI, to ’80s Bowie, Prince and way beyond, refracting each glint until it becomes an amorphous nebula of digital info masking an ice-cool, thermo-controlled interior. The stuttered vocal of central figure Elon Katz expounds ideas of bodiless cybernetic sex and binary sensuality, melding his urging physicality into a virtual matrix of jagged, shoulder-jerking rhythms and writhing synthlines saturated in bacchanalian dissonance.

Twilight Ritual – Fear for Loosing You [FRV006]

TWILIGHT RITUAL - Fear For Losing You

In music, phrygian mode is dissonant, dark, depressive and gloomy. Its use was even forbidden in classical Greece for centuries because it was considered pagan. The sound of phrygian mode is rather exotic… This track was composed 30 years ago and now for the first time on vinyl. Old Belgian electronic band Twilight Ritual has authorized Frigio to re-edit an amazing song from their early 80,s album Rituals. To accompany the original version, we have an awesome remix by Sneaker (Uncanny Valley) who created a club oriented version of it.

The Hacker – Magical Voyage [TSRD052]

Veteran of the fist-pumping kind of electro inhabited by Miss Kittin and I-F, it’s not so often you see a new release from The Hacker these days. Still, he’s made it back to deliver three Italo-flavoured nuggets on Tigersushi in the style of romantic 80s arpeggios and fat synths he made his name on. “Through The Ether” is unashamedly cosmic in its tone, boasting elegiac reams of melody over those steadily pulsing bass notes. A rasping snare gives “Mind Games” a marginally tougher edge, but really this is sweet songwriting for swooning swingers on the dancefloor.

Steve Moore – Panther Moderns EP [LIES010]

MOORE, Steve - Panther Moderns EP (Front Cover)

New ep from Steve Moore which hits hard straight from the get go, as the title track Panther Moderns sees Moore moving into bleaker, mid-tempo musical territories with this brutally haunting, sparse, yet, funk ridden cut. Beyond Tykens Rift is the light at the end of the tunnel with its melodic and uplifting techno/new age leanings while the b-side’s Ancient Shorelines I., which opens with heavy arpeggios and a plodding kick, creates desolate landscapes of still to be discovered planets as the song’s dramatic narrative unfolds.

This is the 3rd landing from Sonar Base. ‘We Attack Before Dawn EP’ gives a nod to the mid 90’s Electro sound of Underground Resistance with 3 killer cuts from Sonar Base and a remix from CE label head Sync 24.
