Casionova – Subspace Transmission 2 [MW011]

Continuing where ‘Subspace Transmission 1’ left off Casionova brings another triple-tracker 12″ of synth jams and dancefloor grooves ranging from the merciless bass-driven Mecha-disco assault of ‘Droids Night Out’ to the epic, booming and deep bass box-jam ‘Magic Touch’ and with the galloping, mystical and hypnotic ‘Necromancer’s Spell’ sandwiched in between – for those who like their electro-disco raw and relentless.

VA – Space Consortium Volume 1 [FLR005]

The year is 2475 AD. As the galaxy is torn apart by incessant sonic warfare three veterans of the synth-zone prepare to drop down onto the surface of Nu-Earth for a final battle to reclaim the lost holy sound of Italo Disco and liberate the enslaved populations of the wastelands to reclaim their former musical glories from the tyrannical “audioverlords”, the oppressors of all sentient musical forms. Genetic Musicians carrying the personality matrices of their fallen comrades encoded into their synths, they know no fear or compassion, their instincts artificially modified for ultimate musical combat… code-named Kid Machine, Casionova and Flemming Dalum they operate without boundaries deep behind enemy lines. Watching, waiting, ready to strike at a moment’s notice in any environment on or off-world…

Bandido’s Gang – Dance With Bandido’s Gang [CD012]

Ostensibly one of Italo Disco’s great lost producers, we suspect that Bandido’s Gang may well be a nom de plume for one of the label’s many associates. Whatever their provenance, the tracks certainly sound like vintage Italo, with ”Marinche” leading with a pulsating bass arpeggio and synth horn melody worthy of Moroder, whilst the Flemming Dalum & Steen Gjerulff remix adds layers of vocoder and a variety of cosmic accents to its sturdy frame. ”Last Train to Tucamari” meanwhile takes a more languid approach, pulling in an opposite direction to the speeding train samples, whilst Flemming Dalum & Mike Salta’s remix adds some guitar licks, hazy synth atmospherics and even a flute solo which just adds to the classic Italo feel.
