Jamal Moss is back on Morphine, although you wouldn’t think it by the sounds of these tracks. Both tracks clock in around the 13 minute mark and totally go there. Clued up sickness again on this excellent label.
Jorge C. + Hieroglyphic Being – El Effekto EP [OJO008]
Ojodeapolo presents the second Ep from Jorge C. who made his debut some years ago on Sean Deason Matrix label. The track ”El Effekto” opens the A side with freaky filtered jumping nu-disco treatments plus delicious horn sections. A2 Track Creation gets into deeper underwater sounds with a dubby feeling. B side is a peculiar rework of ”El Effekto” by the legendary producer Jamal Moss aka. Hieroglyphic Being who takes us into a long journey through pure Chicago noise.

Finale Sessions presents two of Chicago’s finest producers. Amir Alexander is making a big stir in the deep house department, known for releases on his label Vanguard Sound, and brings his vibe to Finale Sessions. ”Eyes Open Mouth Shut” has deep pads and his prototype bass lines makes for a dance-floor killer. ”Bittersweet Memories” has a streamlined bass, drifting pads and flowing synth work makes for a collectve bliss. Hakim Murphy is part of the next generation Chicago heavy hitters and he brings us two tracks that are sure to open many people’ s eyes. ”Hazey Plains In Time” with a deep techno undertone and deep house appeal most def a late night killer. ”Chill” is a chill track to level off the EP with deep chords and a perfect selection of keys.

Following up on his guest appearance remixing “Subsequent” on EPISODES01, Hakim Murphy resurfaces from the abyss exploring a sub-aquatic palette of sounds for EPISODES02. This 4-track EP strips back his sound further while stepping up the funk. Limited to 200 copies, including numbered insert.

After five years of running the highly popular and eclectic music blog “Feel My Bicep”, Bicep started they own label. With the aim of releasing fun and varied music, the only condition the boys gave themselves was to maintain full creative control to take the the label in whichever direction they desired. Their first release follows on a similar vein to previous chart-topping single stripper, deeply inspired by their love of the early US house scene but with a modern twist.

Filippo ‘ DJ Naughty’ Moscatello returns to vinyl with this huge piano & vocoder-led house killer, pressed on green vinyl. On the flip, the faster Hustle T remix is lighter, relying on the piano key change hook for a big record.
Quasimode – Hi Tech Jazz [JS12S079]
Japanese group Quasimode are rightly lauded by the world’s jazz and electronic music cognoscenti, with their productions flitting elegantly between the two genres. For their third release on Japanese label Flower, the foursome present the Hi Tech Jazz EP. “Hi Tech Jazz”, as you may have guessed, is a cover version of one of the finest tracks in the Underground Resistance back catalogue, bobbing along with jazzy piano keys, swooning saxophone solos and an undisputable sophistication. Once we flip over, “Seven Colors” featuring Kazufumi Kodama brings a hint of the electronic with a dub tinged rhythm in its pallet to showcase why Quasimodo are so highly regarded.

Xosar with the second release on Rush Hour. With ‘Nite Jam’ and ‘Elixir Of Dreams’ she continues to explore the boundaries of the self-dubbed ghost house genre. Late night occult tinged music for the after midnight freaks and sunshine shy infidels. A descendant from a Bengali aerospace engineer and Cherokee psychic, she was born in San Jose California, raised in San Francisco and is now residing in a quiet seaside village on the North Sea. Here she spends most of her time wandering through dark forests, channeling the energy of nature and primal forces contained within symbols, and using these energies to produce a sensual and exotic blend of deep Detroit-style techno and leftfield ghost house.

The enigmatic Heatsick’s CasioTones evolve over this EP with the inclusion of accompanying drum machine (something we haven’t heard in his productions before) – four focused tracks that express the overload from stimuli and expansion from time space compression.

Donnie Tempo – Systems On EP [MAMSW003]
The mysterious Donnie Tempo has been producing house music for over twenty years. His first release as Donnie Tempo was back in 2001 on Larry Heard’s Alleviated Records, demonstrating his old school acid inspired productions. Donnie Tempo unleashes the ”Systems On EP” due for release in September on MAMSW. The EP drops two previously unreleased tracks recorded between 1989-91 and one new production ”TCB”, that shows that the original Chicago house sound still runs deep. Finally, Donnie has found a new home to release the uncharted authentic house jamz that he’s created.
