Claude Young & Takasi Nakajima – Rapture EP [ART011.1 / ART011.2]

YOUNG, Claude/TAKASI NAKAJIMA - Rapture

Claude Young teams up with his Takasi Nakajima to deliver the next EP on ART. Cool no-nonsense but thoughtful future-tech, with plenty of analog modulations for the heads – and dance-floor thump for the party people. On the flip, the legendary Ian O’Brien delivers a typically deep, Detroit tinged remix with trademark warm bass and glistening top lines. On the digital release two other remixes from label owner Kirk Degiorgio and TJ Korg.

Exium – Complex [POLE009]

EXIUM - Complex (Front Cover)

The Spanish duo Exium returns to Pole headquarters with “Complex” EP. With this new release they give their style a new twist by making the synths the starring element of “Complex”, a melodic techno number, full of harmonies, portamento leads and pulsating beats. Detroit’s own legendary Dj Rolando reworks the original version in a more percussive style, but preserving the melodies and leads. A sure floor smasher. ”The Quiet Man” closes this release by returning to the classic Exium sound: hard drums, sharp hatzs and dense atmospheres, for the darkest fans of pure techno grooves.

Unbalance – Unbalance #1 [UNBALANCE001]

UNBALANCE - Unbalance #1 (Front Cover)

More uncompromising techno sounds from Russia as Unbalance starts his newly minted label of the same name with this triple header arriving on strictly limited, hand stamped clear vinyl. “Rhythm Slave” sets the tone, wasting little time settling into a heavily pressurised groove of throbbing acid oscillations and glowering bass movements, shards of percussion bouncing off in rhythmic fashion. The screw is tightened to breaking point, at which Unbalance drops some pneumatic hi-hats. Coincidentally, the track adopts a druggy, knackered sound akin to Andy Stott when played at the wrong speed. Turn over for the sci fi freakery of “Deep Journey” which eschews the locked groove dynamism of the A Side for a descent into a thick soup of growling mechanical textures. “Meteor” operates somewhere between the previous two productions, as skipping syncopation drives through the desolate industrial soundscape.

KILLEKILL’s next release comes from Snuff Crew, featuring two tracks. ‘Domo’ a proper acid monster and ‘Eat This’ a raw chicago jack track, that is working its way with nothing but a few drum tracks and a vocal sample and is pure raw sexual energy.

Basic Soul Unit – Deep Diving EP [NK029]

BASIC SOUL UNIT - Deep Diving (Front Cover)

Stuart Li aka Basic Soul Unit with 4 new cuts of submerged bass excursions for Nouveau Kanada. All tracks sound distinctly raw and heavy, but with modern nods to UK bass and spatial elektro. Stuart’s deep appreciation of dusty house grooves shines through on all tracks – but his treatment of the lead cut Deep Diving pays homage to those dope Dance Mania B-sides of yore.

Planetary Assault Systems – The Messenger [OSTGUTCD020]

Luke Slater maintains his prolific output with “The Messenger”. His new album on Ostgut Ton stays very true and honest to the Planetary Assault Systems goal: a journey of discovery, to create new sounds which are not otherwise present in club music at this time.

VA – Untitled [REPITCH000]

https://clone.nl/platen/artwork/large/plaatimage24838.jpg

The debut release for the Repitch label, with three dark techno tracks from Ascion, D. Carbone and Shapednoise. A dark and heavily industrial sound takes the listener on a journey made of metallurgical plants and hypnotic post-apocalyptic scenario. On side A, we have one track signed by Ascion. A train sound that travels through dark landscapes, narrow and foggy. Side B opens with the track signed by D. Carbone . This time the train goes directly into the darkness ..sounds of the whip show that the punishment for those who listen will be heavy. Side B ends with the track signed by Shapednoise and now the train fell into nothingness! As a clock, the heavy rhythmic “breaks” marks the final minutes of a trip ..definitely ended up in the darkest part of the planet.
