Mote-Evolver continues to push on into uncharted territories of electronic music with the ‘Parallel Series 1”, the first in a new series where 2 artists are featured side by side – contrasting and complementing. A dedicated producer with over than a decade of experience, British born ASC goes head to head with Luke Slater’s rather rare L.B.Dub Corp guise over 4 tracks of vivid new techno.
There’s a variety of ways to produce Techno and Cio creates always a unique world of deep, clear, transparent sound architectures. Even with this new Magnetfluss EP our grande madame of Techno show us a new interpretation of her own musical world. All tracks are deeply emotional designed and bare a picture of modern electronic music.
Part two of the four-part Inertia sampler again serves up four heavy-hitting techno bangers from different artists of the new-school techno generation. First up is Frenchman Marcelus who offers a heavy house and techno fusion, before London’s Sigha goes deep and ominous. Redshape and Area Forty_One close out the package with frozen, static coated sounds and textured techno respectively.
The first of 4×4 vinyl releases from the Ann Aimee compilation, Inertia. This opening volume includes cuts from Delta Funktionen, Peter Van Hoesen, Roman Lindau and Sawlin. Delta Funktionen goes deep and dramatic, Peter Van Hoesen offers up his usual dub-wise textures, whilst Lindau pairs icy hi-hats with a heavy stomping beat. Sawlin offers the trippiest techno with his delightfully disheveled ’Excipidial’ and closes out what is an essential.
Francois x returns to the Deeply Rooted House label for his third record. Code Red has a great classic Techno vibe , while Haunted is an acid intriguing deep and dark track. Bonus comes on the flip side with the Marcel Dettmann remix of Code Red. His version is stripped down dark and pumping in his unique and raw and intense Berghain style.
The Black Void Of Space EP 00/2 is the second 12″ from Resoes debut album. ‘Nachhall’ is a atmospheric track, with metallic chords and lushfull strings, while ‘Dubcuttin’ is Resoe’s expression of a Dubstep track, with a more Techno kind of edge to it. The EP is closed by a Don Williams remix.
Ali Renault dons his Cestrian outfit once again for some equally momentous movements for the Future Flash imprint. “Annihilator” surely ranks in the upper echelons of apt titles as Renault explodes into a frenzy of spazmoid analogue rhythms from the off. Spectral flourishes and bubbling textures keep it interesting and it all rides on top of a pummelling aqua techno groove. The aforementioned spectral elements are expanded on by Perseus Traxx on an eerie electro refix that displays all the producers’ talent for eking every last drop of lysergia out of analogue machinery.
The second EP by Mike Dehnert on Echocord Colour, with 2 striped killer Berlin flavoured techno-dub tracks. The EP includes also a remix by Roman Lindau.
Copenhagen’s Northern Structures duo return on Sonic Groove with their second release entitled “Service & Devotion”, following up perfectly with three more songs of well crafted industrialized dark pumping techno.
Mikkel Metal’s new Tartelet EP travels deep into the spectral voids of space. Empyrean pads and raw drums reverberate in our ear meatus on Cassini -soft kicks with shrill claps and a prodding bassline bringing back memories of Mikkel Metal’s earlier dubby excursions.
Sonntag Morgen presents the new release by The Russian Unbalance featuring four tracks of pure dub techno. Sounds that can remember the cold winters, the industrial cities in the early hours of the morning. The rhythms are techno, softened by the atmosphere of classic dub techno.
Dettmann’s unique textured sound design sets the scene for new moments of discovery. Launching us into the space-race, “Barrier“ documents those tense moments of discovery as we reach into new territories. “Translation One” is a frantic, quivering and snaking snapshot into the kind of techno the producer stands for these days. Metallic bass spins sideways, while evermodulating percussion drives forward. The sinister sci-fi tones of “Translation Two“ warble and jive in glorious syncopation as a systematic heavy kick and hat program works the bass frequencies and rhythmic zones. Open and spacious, its meandering theme hangs deliciously between paranoia and positivity. In “Planning“ Dettmann further explores his inclination for intricate, tripping synth patterns. A staggered, wonderfully immersive theme builds from delayed staccato notes in a classic analog sequence, underpinned by rumbling dub bass pressure.
„Workshops“ is a new experimental series of releases by Phil Kieran and Jochem Paap (aka Speedy J), to explore the recording techniques dating right back to the mid 1950‘s. Famous inspirational places like ‘BBCRadiophonic Workshops’ in England and ‘Philips Lab’ in Holland have seen some of the most innovative production techniques, experimenting with the first use of stereo, modular synths, found sounds and reel to reel tapes. The end result was always something space age and promisingly futuristic and still to this day fresh sounding, crisp and exciting. The first Issue of ‘Workshops Vol.1 EP’ consist of three flowing tracks with an inimitable organic and atmospheric appeal.
Lucy’s Monad X plays with Pythagoras’ vision of ‘X’ as the numeral that perfectly envelops the entire nature of numbers. But Monad X is anything but a benign portrait of creation. On ‘Triad’ primal dub erupts into gnarled noise, the undercarriage of ‘Tetrad’ writhes unset – tlingly against the strictures of 4/4 and ‘Pentad’ is underpinned by a decidedly ghostly aesthetic. To close, ‘Decad’ hovers over a vortex and it’s here that from the Monad the Dyad starts to emerge.
