Fred P / Kai Alce – Finale Sessions Select Vol.1 [FSS001]
Finale Sessions presents a new series of releases from the vault on 10″ format. This first release pairs two bonafide legends in the shape of Fred P and Kai Alce, both known for their incredibly accomplished takes on house. Fred P’s “Ram” is a deep excursion into pulsing chords and delicate atmosphere, while Kai Alce’s “Scene 1” is a raw, acidic affair for peak time sets – both are essential cuts.
VA – Combo EP [OJO009]
Rick Wade, K.Alexi, Fantasna and Jorge C signing in for this 9th release for the South American Ojodeapolo label. A fine Various Artists compilation titled Combo EP. A-side begins with Jorge C. “Baile” a set of playful chords , seductive machine drums plus percussions,voices & whispers and surrounding baselines. Followed by “Sun On My Face” by the legendary Chicago star K Alexi Shelby consisting on a mysterious, hypnotic and sensual refreshing summer hit. B-side continues with the one and only Rick Wade, who delivers a tremendous track called “Darling Your Love” transporting us to his own sound-signature developed before by his own imprint Harmony Park label. Last track is “Faraon”, a real deep-acid-anthem that comes by the hand of the young promise Sebastian Mella aka. Fantasna, one of the best kept secrets from Santiago de Chile.

The four spacious, industrial riddims all come with hints of new beat and acid, ghost synth sounds and male & female vocals entering and leaving the mix as if recorded in a parallel world. A steady run from the underworld of General Elektro.

Delft is delivering more sick acid tunes. This time its Delft’s chief LA-4A on duty and providing some advanced modern acid jackers. Good old traditional tracks with a contemporary twist.
Woody McBride – When Good Times Turn Sour [FN018]
Classic 90s acid unleashed again in the 21th Century, Forced Nostalgia revisit choice tracks from US DJ and producer Woody McBride. These four tracks, remastered for this release, appeared on several of the veteran’s releases two decades ago but are every bit as urgent today. ‘The Head Is Not Longer Than The Body’, unrelenting in its forward motion, takes a simple acid riff and keeps on pushing until the pressure is unbearable. ‘Pasture’s Star Route’, with its scattered snares and pounding techno kicks, throws down a haunting acid riff that pans through the body, let alone the speakers. There’s just as much terror in ‘Out Of Reach’ and ‘Pure Ideas’ even if the latter is slower and more delicate in its approach.

Entropy Trax, is the new sister label to Kompakt’s Walls helmed Ecstatic imprint. Expect limited edition hand artworked white-label 12”s from a variety of artists, focussed on experimental dance floor sounds. The debut release comes from DFA’s Gavin Russom (The Crystal Ark/Black Meteoric Star) with a titanic double-header that announces the first of a series of releases for the label. Recording under his own name for the first time since 2011’s ‘Night Sky’, this material finds Russom creating visceral and hypnotic dance floor tracks.
Black Merlin – Amazing Exotics [COTF003]
For Crimes of The Future number 3 presents the ubiquitous Black Merlin, Trevor Horn heads to Berghain at 3am Friday and stays til Monday. Completing the release Timothy J. Fairplay and Scott Fraser remix together for the first time in the Adrian Tripod mode, taking amazing exotics back deep into early 1990’s New York and kicking it out bonesbreaks style.
Gene Hunt – Living In a Room EP [HM002]
Hardmoon London continues its new found adventure by releasing another piece of the impure sound it thrives on. This time bringing in Chicago Legend: Gene Hunt. Hunt takes a look back into the history books of Chicago with some no-nonsense gritty acid tracks that have been designed to shatter teeth and jaws alike.
VA – Masse Box [MASSEBOX001]
May 2013 saw the premiere of the choreography ‘Masse’, a co-production between Berghain and the Staatsballett Berlin. A whole evening of contemporary dance which has been set up by three different choreographers is in need of three different sound producers. The painter Norbert Bisky has been chosen to create the stage design. At the core of the dance night lies a tryptichon made out of pure sound: the music of Henrik Schwarz, Marcel Dettmann & Frank Wiedemann and DIN aka Efdemin & Marcel Fengler was taken as the starting point for developing the choreographies.

Yør – Lack Of Beeing EP [CR1274]
Hamburg based producer Yør is next up on Dutch powerhouse Creme Organization with a four track EP that continues in his muddy and muddled techno tradition. Taking up the whole of the a-side, opener ‘Lack Of Being’ is a swampy brew of slowly churning, buried deep drums, droning synths and crackling static that conveys a real sense of loneliness and pain. B1 cut ‘Unbennant’ is a more propulsive cut with driven kick drums racing along beneath spangled and sinewy synth lines. Train track like percussive embellishes the sense of groove and then ‘Torn’ continues to canter along, with juddering drums sounding like they might collapse at any minute. Again it feels like you are on some broken old train racing to somewhere ominous. Last track ‘Apophis’ is a little cleaner and more crisp, with icy hi hats, late night howling synth patterns and nimble, elastic basslines. This is darkly atmospheric music that is as uneasy to listen to as it is wholly captivating.

Synthek & Audiolouis – Unwise [NTCLP001]
The debut album by Synthek & Audiolouis can be seen like a precious gathering of different approaches to Techno, made in order to create a meaningful and elaborate piece of work. The opening tracks Miasma and Intro:spection are just a glimpse into the atmospheres which costantly surround the whole album. Strong rhythmics and overwhelming soundscapes never abandon the ears, modulating intensity and brightness along the journey through a sea full of dark acid waves. Unwise is a bold sequence of powerful tracks devotedly written for the dancefloor, but still keeps a certain emotional aspect made of few melodic Detroit-rooted cuts, standing as a tribute to the author’s primary inspirations.
